  1. Great work really !!!!! I am really impressed !!!!!
  2. Engraved? Should be stamped.... 18K is better, rare indeed as most ofter medium sizes were in 14. Nice inheritence !!!!! Let us know what happens next
  3. Indeed, see the 2 posts I did showing transformed 1600s cases for explorer builds. Looks sharp, but in my opinion the back differs toom much from a gen 1016.... https://rwg.cc/topic/179721-1600-to-1016-the-full-mod#comment-1430843 https://rwg.cc/topic/181760-rolex-1016-explorer-the-rolo-modified-16000-case#comment-1448285
  4. Are you sure the head is 18K? the dates are usually 14. The bracelet could be 18 fitted on a 14k case. Hallmark is a skirrel. Anyways : I really advise you go to your nearest RSC. For a gold model, fee in France was 500 euros last time I went. Then, you have papers in the form of the warranty card that will help you selling it the correct price.
  5. if only there was such a thing as a good out of the box dayto..... sigh!!!!
  6. I had the same, it is a 14k solid gold Date. very nice watch. I sold it 6K with its bracelet years ago. I actually regret selling it.... Bring it to a rolex service center, it is worth it.
  7. Next up is that engraved case I got from you !!!!
  8. Why not, right? There are so many oddities with vintage rollies.... Every 2 years we find out an other variant of some model that if we've seen it before we'd tag it as fake !!!!
  9. See the three major shapes of explorer cases side by side : 6610, 5500 and 1016
  10. caseback is the only part I did not touch. Shape is good enough I believe...
  11. Here is a modified 16000 case to do a 1016 build. This case was in great original condition, so I did not touch the bezel or the caseback as recreating these perfectly flat surfaces is impossible with my gear.... So the work was on the midcase here: relocation of the lugholes, modification of the lugs shape, reshaping of the case into a tonneau shape on the crown side and careful erasing of the ref number only to leave place for a nice 1016 engraving under the original Registered Design. I am looking forward to see this watch completed !
  12. Hello all, here is an other modified Cartel case based 5513 build. The mods and parts list to achieve this are as follows: - Cartel 1680 supplied by Trevor as efficient as always - Gilt Underline dial supplied by Yuki - 700 crown by Athaya - Sternkreuz T19 - Aussie springbars What has been done: Mid case crown guards shaved and reshaped, rehaut re-milled, crown seat lowered so the crown is nearer to the bezel, lugs reshaped and finished with the correct angled brushing, lug holes enlarged to fit gen spec spring bars, bezel ring re-milled to tight fit the gen spec T19, bezel insert slimmed to seat lower in the revolving ring and treated with sodium hydroxide for aging, dial treated with a mix of ink and PVP to simulate the gloss finish age -hard to capture on the pics but in the flesh it gives a lot of depth and character to the finish-, hands treated with ink and PVP together with the dial, and..... lots of love !!! Now to the pics:
  13. Trying to think...... I believe the bezel fitted on the cartel 6239 has a closer profile compared to the gen bezel. It is for a T21, so dome crysal. To be verified
  14. I ordered one too... It looks like that 1 of 10 is slanted on all. I guess the hole on the dial plate is not properly located. If it is so and if the markers are simply fixed with glued feet, it is an easy fix. I will do it on mine when I have time and report for the record !
  15. you can cross off your list DW and Ingod.... Then, it all depends on how much you are willing to spend.
  16. I lived a long while in the Philippines, and when I discovered Pawnshops I spent my week ends wanderings in the streets of old Manila Quiapo to hunt for good deals. I basically got most of my gens in thoses... Prices were amazing! That was 15 years ago, but I sometimes paid 2000 usd for a solid gold rollie !!!
  17. Problem is for that kind of highly demanded models makers don't need to do much effort to sell.... And one who wants a super rep needs to wait for version no 20 or so... See for the sub C ! They only made top versions once everyone bought the crap. Then, they HAD to make an effort for buyers to purchase their 3rd or fourth version, after spending countless efforts modding the previous versions.... My opinion. But that's always what happens. For popular watches, it takes years after the release of the first reps before accurate reps are made. The first rep of a 5001 Portuguese I have seen was in 2008. I am glad today I did not fall for it ! The only models worth buying to modify are the vintage rollies, as there is not enough demand for them to go the extra mile. For the new ones : waiting is the best option.
  18. there is only one shape of precision... Then, I am not sure if the commamdo has flat sides. If it does (like a Milgauss) it is an easy fix. Get a two tone head with date with a damaged dial. With luck at 6-700 it is yours
  19. I'd just dig on the bay and buy any cheapie... Date or no date. Dial can be welded to close date and marker holes to have a plain plate. I could do that... Erase the ref number, restaure the case and all. Not a hard project. For the redial, whoopy said earlier he could take care of it. You could end up with a all gen parts watch below 2k.
  20. Isn't this a manual wind? To do it I'd get a gen precision and redo the dial. These go for about 700 euros only...
  21. this is hilarious !!!! Interesting to hear an uneducated buyer... Then, all the crappiest fakes -I use the term rep for accurate ones....- make a lot of sense all of a sudden! That is what the mass wants. Markings on the back.... God!
  22. They look AMAZING !!!! I am so glad to see my work was part of building such elegant pieces !!!!!!! You made my day here !
  23. I will have the new Certificates tomorrow.....
