  1. This is my first time to mod 1600 cases to 1016 specs. I must admit I did not believe it would look the part due to the significant difference of design of the lugs between the two models, but finally, it prooved to be possible. The lugs were shortened by 1/2 mm as the DJ has very sleek and pointed lugs when the 1016 has a different, more sporty shaped form of lugs. The lug holes were relocated higher and now appear equidistant from all edges. The lugs upper part was significantly lowered to have the surface appear larger. The crown side was shaved to create the distinct tonneau shape of the 1016, when 1600 have a triangular shape. Final touch was to erase the original reference number only, leaving all other engravings intact and refinishing the brushed finish overall! Now, with a nice "1016" properly engraved under the original REGISTERED DESIGN, these cases will rock!!! As for the casebacks, one was good to have its eges restaured, but the other was beyond salvage. I did a "US dealer" brushed finish that allowed to refinish all side edges nicely. Enjoy the pics !!!!
  2. Thank you for your kind appreciation ! I never go to RWI, I like to RWG and stick around here only...
  3. That looks really great! I am glad I could be part of it. Enjoy!!!!!!!
  4. Here is my Vietnam case: http://www.rwg.cc/topic/174123-rolex-1959-submariner-5512-square-crown-guard-here/?hl=%2B5512+%2Bsquare+%2Bcrown+%2Bguard I'm afraid it's the only good option. It is dismantled now again as I found a correct dial and I'll fit a better bracelet and crown....
  5. Beautiful work. Really! The dial is outstanding! I am really impressed.
  6. Is it stuck in mainland or HK zone? In mainland the war against fakes is bigger and bigger. All serious rep dealers are gone underground for sometime. Only the harmless cheap reps are visible. HK on the other hand is "clean" for a decade now and HK post service is not on the edge anymore...
  7. Thank you so much all for the warm comments! I am really proud ! I started this watch about 6 years ago and remodded it countless times! Never really happy untill today.
  8. I am outside on a cloudy day. Watch is layed on a A0 paper and shooting is done with an old Lumix. Then I simply push the brightness and contrast on Photoshop!
  9. Destop. Careful, it will bleach out everything in no time, so just a few secs
  10. Here it is again for your eyes: my PCG. Now fitted with a repolished Yuki bracelet... This looks so much better than the folded one! For those who don't know this watch, here are the specs: Polex mid case re milled (1mm less on the upper part and bottom reshaped) to reach the gen thickness and have the crown appear higher. CG side welded and recarved with gen spec height and shape PCG, Vietnam bezel assy, Yuki dial and bracelet, Athaya crown...
  11. I have a no Daytona ROC dial from DW's first batch if you're interested....
  12. See my square cg 5512 build to view the result
  13. The dial sure has character! Show us the build when complete! Wash out your bezel insert 30 seconds with some Destop or other extreme toilet cleaner. It will give it a nice patina. Just put some on rubber gloved and massage a bit before rinsing aboudandly.
  14. I don't know if it is a good idea to install a gen T19. The rep crystal is very good and fits tight. I believe the case to be waterproof now and I would not jeopardize that...
  15. Allright! You've got sense of observation. I also reworked the top of the lugs as they were too straight.
  16. A member gave me that case to modify, and it was the first time I saw these markings. Does anyone knows where it comes from? 5513 or 1680 overall shape, 1665 markings between lugs but 5513 markings on the caseback, "stailess steel".... Just curious!
  17. Hello all! Here is most probably one of my last 1016 case as I am getting a bit fed up doing always the same..... I hope you enjoyed my mods on this case and someone else will take over me to perpetuate this particular perpetual !!!
  18. I'm glad you enjoy it !!!! It isn't perfect but it is certainly unique !
  19. This looks really Nice indeed and I'd love to know if I could order one.
  20. I focused on the case as this is where I operated.... The watch is already packed, so next photos will be from Boxsash!
  21. Have you checked other posts about Daytos? If your case is gen and you are willing to settle for a 7753 layout, just sell it and buy a top notch all rep parts DW 7753 dayto. That will make your life easier;.... I'd say there is one every 2 month for sale around
  22. Well: for you to tell what is what guys but my guess is it won't be hard as on a reasonable budget these are the best parts available...
  23. Here is a new 1016, probably the only one combining this shape with a gasket groove..... And also the trickiest assignment I ever had as the case was hand modified before me getting involved and totally assymetrical !!!! Very hard to tune the machine. But well: end result isn't that bad at all.
  24. Lots of work ahead to bring it to life ! Enjoy the ride ! It is such a treat to totally mod a watch.
