  1. These threats are idiotic. if he wants to widely publicize the names of the TD's and modders, this is inconvenient, and a disservice to members who may have to wait until new paypal accounts and websites are set up, but its not like the big watch companies were turning a blind eye to these guys anyhow. It is extremely childish to make a threat like this and breaks all of the rules of this forum. I think this entire thread should be deleted as it is totally uninteresting. I would also be willing to bet that Tomas415 is Zeleni under a different login. If Z wants to turn in all of his ex friends to the authorities because he feels people on the internet were not nice to him, he should go for it. It is a good way of losing all respect people might have for you. And who really cares!
  2. you can buy a leather hole puncher on Amazon for under $5. Easier than looking for a new strap. It is a good thing to own anyhow, as then all of your belts will fit perfectly.
  3. I have bought rep Aviators on iOffer. They cost about $15 a pair. I usually buy about 4 pairs at a time as I constantly scratch break and lose sunglasses. I have had them checked for UV protection and they are perfect. I cant actually tell the difference between rep and gen ones that I have owned. It does not actually cost more than $15 to make a decent pair of sunglasses. The rep Ray Bans are way better than the $15 drug store sunglasses most people wear.
  4. A good idea with new DSSD's is to pop out the pearl and re glue it, as they tend not to be very well glued. Do a quick search and you will see some advice on this. In particular not to use superglue. It is really easy to do, only taking a few secs. Get a good two part epoxy glue, and it will be in there for ever.
  5. How much work is doing a movement swap? Do the rep hands fit right onto a new ETA movement. I have been mulling over buying a Vacheron Constantin Offshore rep for a while. (non chrono) Would it be a simple job for me to buy an ETA or Sellita movement from Otto Frei, and swap the movements out myself, or is that something best left to a watch smith? I have never worked on a watch before, but if it is a simple job of disconnecting the stem and the hands, I would hope I could take a shot at it. Would the datewheel line up, or would I have to swap the rep one across? Maybe I need to look into finding a rep friendly watchsmith in London...
  6. Thanks MD2020. Am I right to think that the Sellita movement is likely to be new, and factory oiled? i know you are a big fan of the Asian ETA movement, but only once it has been serviced.
  7. We have all read about the difficulty people are having buying swiss ETA movements. What are people actually getting in their rep watches? I know my BK Sub has a Sellita movement in it. Is that what people are generally getting now, or are they re used ETA movements. I kinda prefer the idea of a Sellita movement, as it seems more likely to me to be a new movement, and has probably been oiled at the factory in Switzerland, even if installed in a messy rep factory in China. Most of the AD's on the forum seem to only be advertising either ETA or Asian ETA movements.
  8. Women never seem to have enough handbags.
  9. Even after reading this forum for a couple of years, and owning a few gens and two reps, I would have a really hard time spotting a good rep on someones wrist. And if I thought a watch was a rep, I would not really feel confident in my judgement unless it had a really obvious tell. In truth, I still just spot a rep based on the wearer.
  10. My favourite bit is that he suggests cracking it open to see the movement, and then shows the factory seal, which will tell you if it has ever been opened.
  11. Just watched this video on Youtube. Wow, this guy knows nothing about watches. Other than knowing that the pearl can be off with a rep, his advice is useless. i like that he thinks Asian movements dont have hacking movements.
  12. Hi Ken, Love the site, but may I suggest having separate categories for mens and womens goods?
  13. It never hurts to have a new rep serviced, especially if you really like it. Maybe get this serviced, and have the watchmaker remove the piece of lint, and maybe even re paint the rotor.
  14. Who carries the third model so that I can take a look at it?
  15. I do not think Rolex ever had a history of uber luxury. They were initially famous for their reliability. For a long times all watches were expensive, and most good ones were swiss. Rolex made a few innovations like waterproofing which cemented their rep as the most reliable watch. Their watches are more sports style than elegant. They would maybe be the BMW of watches rather than Rolls Royce. Patek Philippe might be the RR of the watch industry.
  16. Thanks JKay. Are these the only models available, or is there a better one?
  17. Sorry to drag up such an old posting, but i am planning on buying one of these with the white dial and wonder which version is the best right now. I believe there have been a few improvements to this rep such as improved datewheel and superlume dial. But I am not sure which version is sold by which dealer. Toro has this one for $298 with an ETA movement. http://www.torobravos.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=93_110&product_id=778 Puretime has this version for $338 with an ETA movement. http://www.puretime.co/product/overseas-automatic-ss-white-dial-on-bracelet/ Are they the same watch, or is the puretime one better?
  18. is the project to glue that jewel to the front of a timex watch to bling it up a bit?
  19. A female friend of mine told me that the best way to tell if a handbag is fake is to look at the womans shoes. No one with a $2k handbag will be wearing shoes made of cheap leather. I think the same goes for watches. An A Lange & Sohne looks suspicious on a kid who works at KFC who drives a 15 year old hyundai, less suspicious on a 45 yr old hedge fund manager. Either may be fake, but the HF managers watch will cause fewer raised eyebrows.
  20. Thanks guys. I'll order a new glue. Luckily I asked here first.
  21. The pearl fell out of my BK DSSD over the weekend. Luckily I found the pearl in my bed. My plan is to superglue it back into place. Are there any tricks for doing a good job of this? The pearl is still in its surrounds, the whole piece seems to have fallen off. (the metal casing around it) my plan is to use as little glue as possible, taking it from the tube with a toothpick, and rubbing the toothpick on the bottom of the pearl casing, then setting it in place with a tweezers. Any advice would be appreciated, as I dont want to ruin this watch.
  22. cool, i have been thinking of getting a curvex crazy hours for ages. Would be nice with an upgraded dial...
  23. Do gen dials fit in perfectly, or is it a big job installing them?
  24. You might be better off getting a low end noob mariner which will cost a bit over 100. The first rep I bought was on canal street for 40 bucks. It lasted about 2 weeks, and was a total waste of money. I worry that you will end up with something similar. I get the feeling you are not buying from a trusted dealer, and thus there is a higher chance you will get ripped off.
