  1. Casio G Shocks have Lume, cost around 100, and would be quite cool for a small kid. They are fairly indestructible, some have solar panel faces and sync to an atomic clock, and have cool features like lighting up when you twist your wrist in a darkened room. Kids would love them. I'm an adult and love them.
  2. You must remember when worrying about things like rehaut engraving how hard they are to see without studying the watch. You have to look at the right angle. Most gen owners have no clue, they walk into a store and buy one that looks nice, they do not obsess over font differences the way we do. The biggest giveaway of a fake watch is simply if you know it is unlikely that the wearer coils actually afford one. If you have a good job, no one will for a second doubt that you are wearing a genuine Rolex. When my secretary turns up at work with a Hermes bag, I do not need to do any elaborate checks to tell if it is real or not.
  3. Maybe the TD will reimburse you for the repair work.
  4. The etched crown on a gen Rolex is almost impossible to see without holding it at the right angle in the right light.
  5. How much did it cost? Have you contacted the dealer?
  6. Under Aftermarket parts, Clark and Ofrei should probably be mentioned, as people seem to use them a lot.
  7. Do you really think that anyone who has been around a gen could spot a noob rep as a copy? If I had not found this site, I would never be able to tell them apart, and even still it is not easy. I understand that the TC sub is a step up, but I do not think a decent rep from this site is so easy to spot. I recently bought a BK DSSD, and while waiting for it tried on a few gens. The watch that arrived seems indistinguishable to me. Maybe the gen weighs more... I have since compared the rep and gen looking in shop windows, and the difference is not at all obvious.
  8. Side question. - luthier did you build the guitar in your profile pic. It looks amazing.
  9. The rehaut is way off on that, also the price seems quite high for that quality.
  10. I guess so, but he still wont be able to sell here.
  11. The caseback looks like the gen to me. Lange's have possibly the most beautifully decorated movements of any watch I have ever seen. the first rep I ever bought was a Lange tourbillion, which I picked up on the streets of thailand for about $7. It kept (keeps) good time, and is a great looking watch. It is a fantasy design however, as Lange never made a watch that looked like that. When I bought it I had never heard of A Lange & Sohne, and just bought it because I liked the look. I did not want a rolex rep, as I figured people would guess that it was not a gen. When I returned to london some of the guys at work who are into watches noticed it and made a really big deal. I tried to be low key and said, oh, it is just an old watch I have had for years. Later I googled it and saw what Lange's cost, and what Tourbillions cost, and actually stopped wearing it. Now I only buy reps that I could genuinely afford the gen of, as I found that quite awkward... Still love Langes, and hope to some day buy a Lange 1 Moonphase.
  12. You mean you want to do a dial swap?
  13. If you have time maybe get a new watch or two for the trip.
  14. I could never buy a Bamford rep, just because I could never buy a gen. While I like the DLC coating, I could not have people think that I blew that much money on a paintjob for a watch.
  15. Thank god you explained it. I guessed it was your boxers, and no wonder the Admin was a bit flustered.
  16. Looks OK to me, hard to tell in your photo as your camera is not level. Nice watch.
  17. I would use the Cape Cod cloth too. When you use one on silver(a metal that tarnishes easily) it seems to keep it from corroding for a long time.
  18. Ah, I did not realize things were that bad. No point spending $300-600 on a watch that will look shabby that quickly.
  19. Yep, I have been by their store, and they charge quite a markup for some trivial mods. Much like pro hunter it is all marketing.
  20. Even on gen watches with gold plating, it tends to wear off quite quickly. I saw a bvlgari rep advertised recently as being brass rather than rose gold plated, and that seems like a better idea. Also some of the hublots seem to be gold ceramic rather than gold, which should wear well also. I quite like the idea of a two tone rep, but will not be buying one soon due to these problems. Maybe my next gen will be a two tone Daytona, as they can't rep the case or the movement right now.
  21. Thanks, It is great to see this review. I have been thinking of getting a ladies watch as a gift for my wife, and have not found much info on here about them.
  22. I'd say rep, not based on any flaws that I can spot, just because it is on this forum.
  23. Just go crazy and get a Graham chrono fighter. Then you'll know what it is to have a crown dent in your wrist.
  24. Do you mind me asking how much the bag cost?
