  1. Doc Savage, my HBB has the standard case, and that was proven by a bezel I bought from an other member which adapted without problem, as well as a strap. However, the one I bought was last year, it was the first lite version. I can't confirm today's size on Watchmark's store, however I'm sure they are standard too. But then again, can't be proven until someone bought it or Mark measured it personally.
  2. 258 USD, removable lugs and finally coloured dials glow (not mentiooned how ) This rep seems one step beyond. But 46x46...
  3. That's indeed what I did, upon advice of PiratedZeus. And I agree, that's a wise solution. BTW, the best price around is from Trevor. However, still thinking that if you go for Nylon, only the gen strap will make you (me ) happy.
  4. Excellent analysis, very objective ! For the gen, you should also consider the maintenance costs... Servicing being the main. For the rep, except some cases, that does not exist : for the price of servicing, you buy an other rep.
  5. http://www.jrartesania.com/Serie%20IWC%20for%20INGY.htm Thx for the update !
  6. If you like to change often, go for the reps : with the cash spent in 1 gen, you can have different watches for many years...
  7. Good to know, as I only could judge the Porsche and HBB by myself. I was wondering about quality after I read D4M's review of the newest Graham, which attracts dust. Lani, I think you just discovered my disease... Look at your Montblanc watch or pen, you'll most likely see my name on it, indeed...
  8. Sure, but... aren't the gens overpriced too... More seriously, I agree with you regarding the HBB pricing, but as you may know, there are more reasonnably priced versions, although that is not the point in this topic. I would reformulate my answer as follows : for the price of a gen, I prefer several good reps. Again, this is only my opinion, and I respect of course those who would choose the opposite way.
  9. If you don't have a particular love for gens, sell it and buy both reps for the price : both are very well replicated...
  10. True, it seems rubber is the trend these days... That's much easier to rep than the complicated bracelets. At least, while doing this, is it too much to ask to have quality rubber ? Please ? When do we get a decent Montblanc Star Chrono ? It's so easy : all parts are available from existing reps, they just have to put them together...
  11. Not yet available. But if they're like the other series, they should be between 200 and 250.
  12. The Zigmeister, thanks so much for sumarizing this and answering all my questions and doubts in one time I have to pin this thread somewhere !
  13. Dear The Zigmeister, thx for this information which makes me somehow feel a bit better with the 2 I own. Which I still don't exactly know, and would like to learn is : what is the weak point in the low beat and the weak point in the high beat (appart from the lack of servicing). Is it a myth or a fact that the old 7750 can be swapped more easily with a gen ETA 7750 ? Is it also true that the regulator on the low beat is not functionnal (I think I read that from you, not sure) ? An other thing I have difficulties to understand : many of us (at least I) thought that the low beat disappeared, replaced by an improved version (the high beat) : why do we suddendly have a mix again ? New old stock can't explain that, as it can't last.
  14. Happy anniversary. That shows how rich and interesting both this hobby and the forum are.
  15. 400 USD 1058 USD I think one can make a small effort regarding "flaws" to save 600 bucks. I still have one doubt : is the first one real ceramic or not... I would not be surpised to see these cheaper models appear on other collectors website or... to see the model1 drastically decreased.
  16. I bought from him twice, for price reasons indeed. And it went very well. I just have better feelings with my current dealer. But Jay is a good dealer for sure.
  17. LR, I'm not sure that was discussed before. I was just linking to my old testimony regarding a scam : Replica-watch-town... It seems I stuck with Montblanc watches, as my second purchase, from Andrew this time, was that one : Somewhat better than the first, cheaper...but still a bit crappy... And that's where I am today Thanks to the Community.
  18. Hi, there are some, but without the right movement i.e. dummy minute repeaters... And here's the real thing :
  19. It seems that different cases is mainly the difference in the caseback engraving (deeper on the 2nd type). And I have the same feeling as you : the 42mm are probably a difference in where the case is measured. Let's wait a confirmation from Watchmark.
  20. That was my first time : http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=18107 The bad experience I had with these *#!*!! had 2 positive side-effects : - it led me to RWG1 and RWG - I was refunded thanks to the credit card insurance and got a free watch, which I however sold in the meantime, as it was far from my expectations. I never imagined how good a replica could be. And now, with a bit more than one year of history, I wonder how I came to buy this crappy Montblanc
  21. If you talk about the cheapest for the same watch, Silix is always a bit under the others. Otherwise you can't compare. I must say I'm not so comfortable with him, don't know why. That's an other story, as Silix is usually appreciated here. But you'll see that depending on your relationship with some dealers you can negociate prices...
  22. That is simple and efficient. I fully agree with you DVN.
