  1. There is a place in Dallas that sells really nice aftermarket cases. Completly waterproof, and very very hard to pick. They are made for the 2671 movement, and the mounting ring can carry a gen dial with no mods. The assembly will mount into a gen of aftermarket case exactly like the gen. No tabs, just 2 screws that you back out to tighten the movement into the case. Gen or good aftermarket bracelets fit perfect. Very slick setup
  2. You can always remove the feet from the gen dial. You can buy a pack of dial feet from cas-ker co. 800 487 0408 part number 10040 made by bergeon. You get 100 for about $15.00 Simply set the feet in the movement then grind a small trought where the new feet attach. If you don't the dial will not fit flush on the movement, it will rock a little. Add a small amount of jewelers epoxy on top of the dial feet and set your dial on top, align canon pinon and calender window and let harden. I think you will be very pleased. Good luck
  3. I have a gen in my shop for repair, and I compared it with the rep I have, seems like the rep is heavier
  4. Ive seen many bracelets for sale and the buckles rarely match the bracelet. No question the buckle must match the bracelet to qualify for 100% gen. Some ebayers sell 78360 bracelets to fit subs, with a 93150 buckle, and vice versa. A 93150 bracelet carrys a matching buckle stamped 93150. Even though the stainless oyster bracelet for the datejust and sub are the same construction, the numbers must match, 78360 bracelet 78360 buckle 93150 bracelet 93150 buckle. There is no mix and match from rolex. Good luck
  5. Your reference to a 36 and a 38 mm case is actualy the same case. The 36 refers to the case width without the crown, 38 is the measurement with the crown. Yes your dial will fit gen and proper aftermarket case. He is correct that the 3035 and 3135 hands will not fit the 2836. The hands offered on ebay, clark, especially, are exact copies of the gen hands, almost impossible to pick. Save your gen hands for a gen watch and buy clarks. Good luck on your build
  6. Whatever you do, the crystal must fit at least snug to your case. Other wise expext trouble
  7. I use lintless paper. It is very soft and will not leave any residue. I fold it to a point around the size of pencil end, spit on it and begin to clean the dial. I know it sounds crazy but it really does work. Ive tried everything I could think of and every thing leaves a residue. I even tried it with plain water just on the tip, would not clean it. I tried many different cloths, no luck. The spit on the end of the lintless paper cleaned a black dial perfectly, no marks, no lint, no residue Hope this helps
  8. I hate to admit that I did this, but here is what I did. I took the eta sweep second and put it on a junk movement and cut both ends off at the tub. Then I filed what was left just a little to smooth it out. Then I removed the post off the bottom of the sweep second on the gen, and then epoxyed it to the eta post. Let it harden and removed it from the old movement. Believe it or not it worked great, and from the top you could not tell. If you have a lathe you should be able to cut the hour and minute tower to fit. Good luck, and please don't tell anyone what I did. LOL
  9. Sorry for the abuse, however you made the rule of next day shipping. No matter what the problem with one purchaser( paying late) it shouldn't affect the transaction with the other. You should honor the shipping agreement with the person who has already paid, and let guy whos draging his feet, be the one that doesn't get it shipped right away.
  10. Pehaps I misunderstood. Are saying the dial opening is to large, and you have diffuculty centering the dial. If so, the only thing I have been able to do is to get an oversized movement support ring and cut it down, or with a little luck find exactly the right size. Sorry to be confused, at first I thought the dial was to big for the case.
  11. I attach 2 thin grinding disc to my dremel and enlarge the dial portion of the case ever so slightly. Needless to say you have to be very focused, and don't rush it. Hope this helps
  12. If the sa 3135 breaks, who will fix it? Certfied rolex repair shops won't touch it. Watch makers can not get parts. That said, it's still very cool movement, I think worth the risk at $400 plus.
  13. One problem I found using the gen calender disc, It will drag under the dial, because it is thicker than the aftermarket overlay. Hope this helps
  14. I agree, its fake. They are correct on the space between swiss made. There is a very small space between " swiss made" . Yours looks like swissmade.
  15. Very hard to find. You might try Dallas Gold & Silver. They have a large selection of gen parts. If you call, use the fairchilds selection on the prompt. Good luck
  16. Before you do anything, check to make sure the feet are far enough apart for your overlay to clear. Good luck
  17. I agree. The crystal and gasket should have some resitistance when you try to align the cyclops. Loose is not a correct fit. Good luck
