  1. It is possible, however most datejust use the 2836-2 to correctly position the stem in the case tube. The calender wheel on the 2824 is set in a lower position than the 2836-2. That directly affects the claender wheel overlay clearance to the back of the dial. With the 2824 assembled and ready to install you will find the stem not centered in the case tube, that is critical for smooth trouble free operation, I would recommend the 2836-2.
  2. Very easy to change the calender wheel from the asian to the gen. Look at your new movement. On the left of the cannon pinon at the calender wheel, you will see a small spring holding the calender wheel in place. Turn the calender wheel slightly clockwise with your fingers until the the calender wheel tooth lines up with the small slot in the retainer, take a needle and pull the spring in and the calender wheel will come off. To remove the one with the overlay, do the same procedure except take a single edge razor blade under the calender wheel and carefully push the spring inward, and the clender wheel will come off. To reinstall, set the calender wheel in position with the slot lined up, take the razor blade and gently push the spring inward and rotate the calender until you feel it pop downward, your done. Sounds like a lot but takes less than a minute
  3. Ive built 2 of these with the same dial, engraved rehaut, domed smooth bezel, polished center bracelet, new slide lock buckle, and the people who bought them love them. If you really want to pick it apart I suppose you could. However I think a nice dj, waterproof, with the correct cyclops and calender wheel for $450 is an excellent buy.
  4. I have som some gen crowns for mens dials. How many do you need? I am sure they are gen because the came from damaged gen dials. PM me whenever you want
  5. Most likely the feet position are the , but not positive. The gen crown will definitly fit the 2836 stem, I have installed many gens on the 2836 stem
  6. I have several dj I have built. I also have a gen dj. On the gen dj I bought a gen crystal straight from rolex, $200.00 and it has the lec. The after market crystals $30.00, also have the lec, Im telling you they look very similar. One noticeable differance, the feel of the gen vs rep, big difference. I don't know what the diff is, but there is defintly a different feel to the crystal. Not something anyone would notice when mounted on the watch.
  7. I like the green. 1 question, is the pearl correct? very very nice watch
  8. I built the rep on the right. Fashioned after a 99 version no holes. No engraved rehaut, no lec on the crystal. Movement genuine swiss 2836-2, bezel gold filled, crown gold filled, bracelet 2 piece end piece, gold plated. Case has random numbers, is water proof with a nice finish. If you like 2 tone, not to bad
  9. Yes the datejust has an etched crown at 6:00 as long as the rehaut is engraved. They still make the dj without engraved rehaut, the crystal on it has no lec
  10. This was fun for me. Thanks for your input guys. Some points made, show how sharp you guys really are. You are correct, left is a 16220 X serial number 100% rolex, right down to the new sapphire crystal. Right is a rep all the way, no gen parts at all. I like the reply about the spider going up his arm, I say spider because I can't spell trantu#!^!*^# LOL
  11. Here are 2 datejust. 1 is 100% gen and the other is 100% rep. Don't be fooled by the cyclops, when taking pictures the angle of the camera changes things. Just having some fun. If you want mor pics pm me
  12. If you are still in the market, here is a head I built. Let me know what you think Pic is at an angle, the cyclops is centered
  13. Finding a good rep at the $ 150 price range is difficult. Chances are good you will need a movement in 6mos to a year. Why? Because watches in that price range use the chinese automatics, which are notorious for breaking, especially the date wheel. However, when that happens you can buy a replacement movement for around $20. The reps that use the genuine swiss eta are very reliable, and more expensive. The datejusts that I build come with a genuine swiss eta and cost around $350.00 and come with a 1 year warranty. If you look around you may find a good used rep with an eta in your price range, I would recommend that over a chinese movement. Good luck
  14. I upgraded, so I can sell and service. I will be posting some pics of the datejust I build. I will also be including a detail description addressing every aspect of my build, doing a comparison of all the parts I use with the gen. If you like any of my pictures just ciontact me thru pm. Anxious to get feedback on my reps.
  15. They are correct that you have to drill the case out. That is the easy part. When taping the hole, you have to be sure you are straight in 2 directions. Hard to to do by hand, but can be done. Use lock tight when installing the case tube, it not only seals it, it locks it in. Good luck
  16. I can build you one, but I dont know how to set myself up to sell or post pictures. If you can help me, I would be glad to do a watch. Just want to do things right on this forum
  17. when this happens it is because the crystal diameter is a touch wide. Make sure the insert will fit over the crystal. You can change the crystal and maybe find one, a thousandth or 2 smaller than the one on the watch. If not you will have to trim the inside diameter of the insert. Good luck
  18. I think I disagree about the chinese eta compared to genuine swiss. Quality in the swiss movement is much better than the chinese. However, 2836-2 is out of production. When the supply is gone, its gone. Chinese version will be the only one available, then it will have to do.
  19. Im new here, only a couple of months. Is it possible for me to get setup to sell watches, parts and service. Would appreciate any help.
  20. There is a place in Dallas that sells really nice aftermarket cases. Completly waterproof, and very very hard to pick. They are made for the 2671 movement, and the mounting ring can carry a gen dial with no mods. The assembly will mount into a gen of aftermarket case exactly like the gen. No tabs, just 2 screws that you back out to tighten the movement into the case. Gen or good aftermarket bracelets fit perfect. Very slick setup
  21. You can always remove the feet from the gen dial. You can buy a pack of dial feet from cas-ker co. 800 487 0408 part number 10040 made by bergeon. You get 100 for about $15.00 Simply set the feet in the movement then grind a small trought where the new feet attach. If you don't the dial will not fit flush on the movement, it will rock a little. Add a small amount of jewelers epoxy on top of the dial feet and set your dial on top, align canon pinon and calender window and let harden. I think you will be very pleased. Good luck
  22. I have a gen in my shop for repair, and I compared it with the rep I have, seems like the rep is heavier
  23. Ive seen many bracelets for sale and the buckles rarely match the bracelet. No question the buckle must match the bracelet to qualify for 100% gen. Some ebayers sell 78360 bracelets to fit subs, with a 93150 buckle, and vice versa. A 93150 bracelet carrys a matching buckle stamped 93150. Even though the stainless oyster bracelet for the datejust and sub are the same construction, the numbers must match, 78360 bracelet 78360 buckle 93150 bracelet 93150 buckle. There is no mix and match from rolex. Good luck
