That is correct. But untill 4 months ago we ordered swiss. Then they started showing up with asian 2836 instead of swiss, even though we ordered swiss.
-
Around 3 or 4 months ago, we started getting watches with asian 2836-2 movements. At first they seemed like a good cheaper alternative to the swiss 2836-2. All of a sudden, around four months later, we are starting to get returns for service or replacement. THIS IS NOT GOOD. I have several swiss eta 2836-2 in watches I built in 1995, IM NOT KIDDING, they have never been touched to this day. I realize the asian eta looks nearly the same as a swiss, at half the price, but early results indicate, 'YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR' SWISS 2836-2 IS CHEAP AT TWICE THE PRICE. Just a note on the asian 2836 rotor, it says TWENY FIVE JEWELS not TWENTY. LOL

jubilee or oyster?

Does anyone know where I can get the rehaut engraved on a rep case? Thanks, Matt
-
Thank you guys, but no one has commented about the bezel. Can you tell from my crapy pic, if this looks gen. Today, with the quality of aftermarket parts available, who can really tell. I don't think one single person can really say if a part is gen or rep. Too many pros and cons
-
The end pieces fitting way inside the lugs is a great tell. Ck them on ebay. I remove the 18K AND OTHER MARKINGS OFF ALL THE REPS!
-
Yes it is, and I don't know who carrys that case. I will have to ask the guy I got them from.
-
all of them in my cabinet. Marked 16610T
-
I looked at 4 supposed gen watches on ebay and a 100% gen insert. The 16610's had a pointy 4 and a different 2 than this one. Then I looked at 2 transitional subs, 1 had the same 2 and a flat 4, the other had the same 2 and a pointy 4.This stuff can drive you crazy. Thank you freddy for pointing that 2 out to me. Now Im even more confused! ^&%$$*^# I don't know anymore what's right or what's wrong. But I agree the 2 is suspect

I brush after I polish the case, carefuly. That's why I go from the inside out. Use around a 30 degree angle. The blue file board leaves a very desirable look. change the angle as you go down the lug to around 90 degrees at the very bottom

I'm not trying to fool anyone. But I would like to know if the majority think this is gen or aftermarket. I purchased these as genuine. The insert does snap into the bezel, and the bezel fits both gen and rep submariners. Opinions appreciated. Pics from my phone, best I can do. I don't know how you guys get some of the pics you get, but some of them are fantastic. After looking at several watches from 1981-2002, I conclude that over the years, many watches are serviced by independent jewelers, who are highly qualified to work on watches, including rolex. I am sure during that time many aftermarket parts were used, including aftermarket inserts ( easily damaged ) crystals, case tubes, gaskets etc. So my conclusion is, even though the watch is gen, after a period of time, it may have had aftermarket parts installed. The average consumer, not rwg members, doesn't care as long as the watch looks nice and performs well. However, with all that said www.ebay.com 271067851177 has the same 2 I think LOL

Im sure your wife buys those finger nail boards. They come in pink, blue, white, and yellow. The blue works very well

Rebrushing Rolex lugs - Which Grid to use?
mymanmatt replied to dropbear2008's topic in The Rolex Area
Im sure your wife buys those finger nail file boards. They come in pink, blue, white and yellow. They are perfect for rebrushing lugs on any watch. When you brush the lug, go from the inside out at an angle. Looks really nice when you finish. You will find the blue leaves the best finish. -
Everything said is true, unless you have the parts needed to finish it sitting around. Even then, it's not a great deal.
-
correct, unless it's a 16200 series, then sapphire crystal. Clark has them both, and they both fit nicely.

Beautiful !!

100% rep!!! Be careful The sel"s on a gen fit way inside the lugs, the reps don't. This is fake

MBK Modern Submariners..Calling all Rolex Experts.. Pleaase Help!
mymanmatt replied to justlounging's topic in The Rolex Area
You have a picture of the crystal close up showing the ridge necassary for the gasket to seal it. That looks correct. Then you have a picture of a crystal that appears to be flat on the side, no grove, that is in correct. The crystal should have a groove in it, that is for the gasket to seal it when the steel retaining bezel is pressed on. Yes, the crystal should sit on top of the rehaut, then press the steel retainer, with the o-ring on the bottom, over it, all the way down, then put the rotating bezel on, then the insert. Be sure your steel bezel is all the way down and flush with the case. -
TC Sub with Clarks Crystal, 2.7mm Gasket, home made crystal press

be sure your crystal gasket is the correct O.D. They are tight, but not to tight. -
Temperature gauge in rolex? Do you think that could ever happen. I think that would be a very cool add on. If anyone could make it work, I think rolex could. How about on the yachtmaster, date at 3 temp at 6
-
I like it!! I could wear that in the hood!! It would get me respected, and or killed
-
That camera takes some nice pics. Still looks better in person though
-
No the bezel is free an clear of the end links
