  1. I've been wearing this everyday since I picked it up Monday. I'm liking it more and more everytime I look at it.
  2. Get yourself a 7750 Carrera chrono, the subdial spacing looks Quartz, possible 21j. My first ever rep was a 21j Carrera Day Date, they sent me a quartz by mistake, then sent me the automatic that i ordered. it was nice and I really liked it. Then I decided to try the $400 A7750 version of the watch, could it possibly be worth 4X the money? It is, the watch is amazing, I now have two and the price is down to $300 from some dealers. I consider my first rep purchase a mistake and definitely recommend going with an A7750 version. The 41mm Carreras can be had $230 from Tony. My 2cents buddy. Great choice on watch though, I still love the Carrera Day Date.
  3. 8 years seems like a long time to be hanging around, maybe you should regail us newcomers with some tales of how it once was! Congratulations Pan!
  4. Actually, my work involves wearing coveralls in a nuclear plant. I always have a work watch, something rugged, a little on the cheap side, and not suitable for me to wear when not being a Control Technician. For my "nice business lunches" shower and change out of the coveralls (optional) and enjoy home cooked meals as the food available in the cafeteria is unacceptable to my tastes. For this break in the day I like to be wearing a nice timepiece. My job is by no means glamorous but boy does it pay well Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Repaired the bracelet but still not sure how long it will hold out. I just love this watch so much!
  6. I contacted Tony from Asian7750 and he agreed right away to send me a new clasp, if it shows up I'm good, if not this one might end up back on a croc strap.
  7. I wear a watch to work and then once I get here I usualy change it out for a beater (Invicta Pro Diver, Luminox). At lunch I shower and put the nicer watch back on, then back to the beater for the rest of the work day, one more change at the end of the shift. This is the minimum and happens every workday. The rotation is just based on mood, whatever I feel like. A watch might be my go to for a week or two or it might last for 1day and then go right back to the sidelines. The fact is, I am very aware that I have a large selection of watches and I try to make sure they all get a little wrist time and that leads to a lot of switching. On weekends I might wear 3 or 4 different watches in just one day.
  8. Well, I'm not wearing this: I did get 20min out of it though In protest, I'll be wearing this today. EFF REPS!
  9. Sure, Gens fail too and until the last year I had almost no serious issues with any Reps but in the last year I have only purchased two reps without major issues. in my original post I didn't even mention the DSSD that I purchased because the movement and stripped crown problems that it arrived with are minor and the watch is still wearable. Anyway, like I said, this was mostly a rant, I'm not particularly new to reps and understand that these things happen but it would be nice if, just for a change, they didn't
  10. I want to stop buying reps, I don't know that I can, but I sure do want to. Honestly, a couple grand seems like a small price to pay to avoid the stress and frustration of having to quit wearing a brand new watch because it is BROKEN! About a year ago, I bought a new Ceramic bezel PO, a beautiful watch. Seen it in the wrist check lately? No? Oh, that must be because it arrived with movement problems but was still wearable for about a month. Next the bracelet clasp failed and the movement problem only got worse. The watch now sits in need of repair that would come close to equalling the cost of replacement. Yesterday, my new Carrera Day Date arrived, on a bracelet, and the watch looks great. I sized the bracelet, washed the watch and bracelet and put it on. I think I wore it for about 20min when the clasp suddenly opened and parts scattered onto the floor. I was able to recover the parts that fell to the floor but it's not an assembly problem I have to do some metal repair or replace the bracelet. I sure am glad I got my 20min of use out of this beautiful new watch! So does this post have a point, or am I just ranting. Okay, I'm totally ranting but I do have a question for you guys. Can you recommend a glue or apoxy that I could use to perform this repair. Would super glue hold? I would like to repair it as it appears that this is how the clasp is actually manufactured so there must be something I can get a hold of that will do the trick Thanks for listening and I sure hope some of you guys have some experience in this type of repair.
  11. Old Luminox, fitted a UPO sapphire crystal and old Carrera strap. New work beater.
  12. There's no great replica of this watch, sorry to break it to you. The replica that is available is however very good and would not be spotted as a fake by most watch enthusiasts. The problem is, the replica uses an A7750 movement which looks a certain way, mostly it looks exactly like a Valjoux 7750 movement or the TAG Heuer Calibre 16 chronograph movement. The Cal. 17 movement is actually an ETA 2894 modified by TAG Heuer. The biggest giveaway is the the rotor mounting, as this is completely different on the two movements. The case back of the watch you are looking for actually obscures this but to the trained eye the movements look nothing alike. Another problem with the replica is the sunken date wheel. This is caused by the transfer of the minute register from the 12 o-clock position to the 9 o-clock position and moving the running seconds from 9 to 3 to replicate the sundial positions of the Calibre 17 movement. The replica is not perfect, it's not even the best Carrera replica available (that honour probably goes to the Cal.16 racing), but it is a good replica and a good watch. puretime carries the watch on Rubber and Leather but the price is a little steep ($420) Hope this helps in your search for a "perfect" Grand Carrera
  13. Hey Sunny, any chance you have another beautiful crystal for a 43mm carrera lying around? I want one... Soooo bad.
  14. I installed a new AR'd crystal in my old Planet Ocean, looks great, now I just need a new dial for the record, the old crystal went straight into an old Luminox, perfect fit and big time upgrade!
  15. Update required. I finally got around to installing the Sunnydale Crystal that's been sitting in the drawer for over a year.
  16. Carrera Day Date today, a replacement is on it's way.
