  1. Sorry to hear about your boat, but I am glad you're happy with the lume results. That dark mailer sucks up the photon's, but a charge from a flashlight sure gets it glowing like a beacon. RG
  2. Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated. RG
  3. Beautiful work. How do we know for sure that Panerai use a mixture...I have heard arguments and comments from both sides, some saying "I have seen the GEN and they are all C3 as compared to a relume I have with Superlume C3...they are identical..." And then another member posts "I have seen the Genuine PAM's in person, and it's not C3, it's whiter...more of a C1 and C3 mix..." So who do I belive? are they both right??? I am still confused and not convinced that it's not C3 or a combination... I wish we had some definite answer on this question, there is no Panerai dealers where I live, so I can't comment. RG
  4. This movement is a copy of a 2836-2...I was initially told it was a advertized as a 2824-2, so went along that line when I did up the post initially, forgetting that it was a 2836-2 one... I have since corrected the title and all the text to 2836-2. Sorry for any confusion. RG
  5. "What a difference a DIAL makes..." ah, watch humour, it doesn't get much better than this... Nice work, and I agree, more than 1% improvement, I say 75% improvement since you see the dial at all times. Nice work, keep it coming. RG
  6. You're correct of course, I did note it but did not bother to change the title...will do so now... Good eye. RG
  7. Understood...I only have so many hours in the day which is why I did not do a more detailed part by part comparison.... The big question is answered, this Asian copy is a good movement... RG
  8. I know what a gen Swiss ETA looks like, I have dozens of them in stock... I dont' know if all the parts are the same...it would take hours to swap and compare each and every part...from what I can tell, they are the same... Your most welcome to get one of these Asian ones and do the comparison for us... I only have so many hours in a day to do this stuff, I have a day job, am a single dad with two kids, travel for my work, etc...this is the best I can offer at this time. Someone else can step up and do a part by part comparison if they want to. RG
  9. I am not sure who it came from, it's a LV sub model, I will let the owner identify who it came from if he chooses to do so. For any future comparison, I think we will have to look carefully at the pictures on the sellers sites...since there is no real ID on this model, we dont' want everyone to jump on the bandwagon calling everything "Asian ETA copy", that would just cause chaos again... This looks identical to the ETA, not sure on the other so called variants out there, and what they look like... RG
  10. If you can wind it and set the time with the crown, the problem is the small gear that changes the date, it's not working - a common problem on 7750's. If you have problems setting the time or winding it, then the crown is at fault. RG
  11. Don't you people know, this is the beta run of the case he's making by hand in lower slobovia... Troll, hopefully he'll find another bridge to nest under. RG
  12. If you return the fine adjuster to center, you can move the regulator arm to get the rate to where you want it. Don't move the stud arm, as you will alter the beat, it's trial and error without a timing machine when you move the regulator arm...just be careful, and use your loupe while making the adjustments. RG
  13. There is a fine line between being helpful to others, and being used. Look at my example last week with member beowolf, helped him on the board, on PM, and because Jennifer did not get back to him with shipping information within a few hours, he found someone else to do the work for him. BUT that was not the problem, the problem was that as soon as he got what he wanted from someone else, he did not have the decency to send Jennifer a message and cancel his appointement. Add member beowolf to your blocked list... RG
  14. You should see some of the emails Jennifer receives from some members here, there are some terrible rude people here, who portray themselves on the board to be just wonderful people... I also get the numerous "Watchmaker Consulting" emails and PM's, I like the ones that say "I have a Watchmaker who is going to service my XXX model, I hear your an expert, can you tell me what I need to tell my watchmaker so he can fix my watch for me..." Hopefully others can avoid the same problems. RG
  15. I feel your pain V, it happens to me each and every week... My Blocked PM and Ignored list is about 100 names here and on TRC. I also get 2-3 each month that book appointements, and never live up to their end of the deal, they join the rest on the blocked list, and I also let all the other watchmakers know about them, so they can be aware of potential time wasters. I also share my bad customers and those I block with all the other watchsmiths here, and they do the same for me. I would really appreciate it if you sent me the board name, and anything else you have, so I can add this person to the list. I am getting to the same point you are, enough is enough, some memebers are just no good and don't deserve our support or help. RG
  16. Ken is not the only game in town, some of us here can do lume work... Here's some of mine... RG
  17. I am not sure of the prices on Ofrei, but it's easy enough to find them on the web site. RG
  18. I think they were 18K models, it's been a while... From what I remember, they were quite accurate after service, as accurate as can be expect for a 100 year old watch, that probably did not get serviced as often as it should have been... The Illinois was seized solid when I got it, mainspring and arbour a chunk of rust...managed to restore it and get it going again. You know where to find me. RG
