Well the mail normally takes much longer than "3 days" to get accross town, let alone out of the country... You mailed a money order (unless there is some other way to get money orders delivered) and expect a response in 3 days??? Your kidding right? RG

Good for you and great story. RG

Omega Seamaster Chrono Asian 7750 >>> Swiss
RWG Technical replied to NaviChief's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Well I am not sure if I am smarter than you are, but I will give it a go... There is no special technique, the movemnets are identical as far as dial mounting is concerned. Remember the #1 rule of watchmaking "Never EVER force anything..." so that is a no, at least until you eliminate other issues. No Given that you have removed and reinstalled the datewheel, the first thing I would do is to remove the dial, and check and double check that everything is in place and working correctly. Look at the movement from the side, eyeballing it across the dial seating area, note anyting at all sticking up that could be a problem? If it all looks good, then reinstall the dial, make sure the feet clamps are released, and when the dial hangs up for that last mm, look again around the edge from the side. Do you see anyting blocking the dial? If there is nothing there, and you check and verify that the main post for the hands and the subdial ones are centered in their respective holes, then press harder with the movement well secured in your movement holder, using watchpaper to protect the dial, and it should snap into place. Sometimes the feet are not perfectly aligned, or the posts themselves are a bit larger or can have a nick from the clamps and this can prevent it seating... Good luck and glad to see you doing this on your own...great stuff... RG -
Great work by all involved. RG

If it fits, you can wind the watch and change the time and date, it's the right stem. You have a problem either with the keyless works set lever pin, the keyless works itself, the movement mainplate hole for the stem (perhaps work out), or you may have a worn out or slightly too small stem. You have to find and correct which ever problem is causing this. RG

Wow a year already... Thanks to everyone behind the scenes that keeps this place going, your dedication does not go unappreciated. Here's to another successful year. RG

Lets hope you loose your bet... RG

It has nothing to do with friends, it has everything to do with using too much of my time and misleading me. Maybe? the language is part of the problem

It has nothing to do with "newbieness", I never look at post count or join date, everyone is the same to me... If you had said in your PM what you did here, I would have understoood, your PM answer told me that you did not read my information that I passed on to you... The hourly rate is indeed for work beyond the capabilities list, but mostly referring to repairs of broken watches. You asked if I could supply certain parts, and I don't list or carry any upgrade parts, or sell watches...I only fix them. I of course have movement parts - since I fix movements. You can PM me and we can work something out. RG

Any 2836-2 model that is functioning as a GMT model, is basterdized. ETA did not (to my knowledge) ever offer this model as a GMT model. If your going to choose one of these, do NOT get the one with the GMT hand ABOVE the hour hand. That model is terrible, poorly made, and problematic. If you get the one with the GMT hand NEXT to the Dial, it's well made, has none of the problems or defects as the other one, and should be fine. Basically this model is using the same design as the genuine ETA 2893-2 models... I think this answers your question?? RG

I only have so much time for this... Here goes... This is my hobby, I do this for fun in my spare time. When people use up my time, or screw me around, I block their PM and emails and Ignore them on the forum. I have ZERO tolerance for BS and people who screw me around. My blocked member list is about 100 members right now... If you treat me right, I'll give 110% to help you, many members here can vouch for that fact...screw me around, and I have zero time for you. You have mislead me many times, for example sending movements in for service that were "working" or for simple jobs that were damaged and not working, I in turn sent them back to you untouched. I hate being mislead. You have done this a few times, and that to me is mirepresenting. You have also registerd as a new member to try and fool me into answering you, many, many times you have done this. You have bombarded me with email and pm's when you broke through my defences, or if I did not answer in a few minutes... After I marked your email address as spam, you changed it, over and over, trying to get me to answer you, just like you did tonight, and you lied again, saying your in the UK... Lying about who you are, where you are, etc, does not sit well with my ethics. You did the same sort of thing with Mark (finepics), and I think he has banned you as well. In other words, you are driving me crazy. I choose who and IF I do watch work for members, those that use up too much of my time (like right now) I can't be bothered with, those that screw me around, or book appointements and don't keep them or respond to our follow up messages, get black listed as well... I think that covers it all, now eat your popcorn. RG

Calibrating Asian 7750? - up to 1 hour off
RWG Technical replied to morgan123's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Ok, let me know. The cannon pin can be replaced alone, or you can choose to service it... RG -
@pug... Here is the link to ETA. https://secure.eta.ch/CSP/DesktopDefault.as...=3&tabid=28 @mglgal You asked me if I provided certain services and parts, I sent you to my capabilities list link. My capabilities states clearly "What you see here is ALL I do, if it's not here I DON'T do or offer it..." Your response back to me was with the exact same questions you asked in the first place, and since what your looking for is NOT listed on my capabilities list, that would say to me that you never bothered to read what I sent to you. If you can't take 5 minutes to read my capabilities list and see what I do and don't offer, I can't be bothered to spend anymore time answering your questions... RG

Calibrating Asian 7750? - up to 1 hour off
RWG Technical replied to morgan123's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
1 hour is a huge amount of time to try and adjust... You should have a watchmaker check and verify the watch on a timing machine, the beat may be out. But it's unlikely that the beat is out enough to cause 1 hour of loss... the fact that it's loosing time, leads me to think it's a defect. Most likely, your problem is a slipping cannon pin, they tend to be defective on the 7750's, if when setting the time, you feel little to no resistance, you have a bad cannon pin. The fix is to replace the cannon pin. RG -
Understood...if the seconds hand keeps turning, but the other hands are stopped, then it's always the cannon pin. Common problem on the Asian 7750 models... RG
-
It's not too difficult to repair, certainly easier and less prone to damage than trying to change any other gears. You have to remove the dial and hands, then the datewheel, datechange cover, keyless works cover, then all the associated drive gears, and finally the cannon pin gear. Best reference is to use the ETA tech sheets they show the disassembly steps (not much use in this case for an Asian model). If your seconds hand works, but the minute/hour hands stop, it's always the cannon pin that is causing it, it can't be anything else. If any of the other gears were bad or casuing too much resistance, the seconds hand would stop running. The fact that the seconds hand works, indicates that the problem is dial side, if it was the calendar gear jamming up, the movement would stop, and the seconds hand would not run at all... @kruzer00 Why were you not in Toronto last week when I was??? You did that on purpose didn't you...you could have joined me and KenMc for dinner... It's probably kids that came originally from NY that are excempt from school due to the cold, the canucks will be out on the ponds playing hockey all day... RG

In my signature block, you will find the latest rendition of my capabilities list. Major changes include simplifying it to 2 pages from 4. Hopefully it's short enough that it can be read throughly to avoid some problems that were a result of people not reading past the prices. I also clairified some items. Thanks for reading. RG A BIG Thanks YOU to member "Phoband" for all his help with this.

Your cannon pin is slipping or defective... RG
-
It signifies "Luminova" as in "Super Luminova" RG
-
Movement oilers are used, normally Black ones for the dial, and Yellow ones for the hands, of course depending on the size of what your luming will depend on what size you use to apply the lume... RG
-
Remove the old lume from the back of the hand with a knife, then push out the remaining lume from the hollow center. Once all the lume is gone, apply the new lume from the back of the hand... It takes practice and patience. RG
-
Common problem. Solution is to replace the crown and tube with a genuine one... See this post. SMP upgrade RG
-
Stems are all the same, should be able to use the old one. RG

I kind of thought the same thing, but then I read it again...maybe my engrish to french transelator is not working today?? Is he happy, or not... RG
