  1. Mike kudos to you, really a very interesting tutorial Thanks buddy
  2. Very difficult, it's difficult to see if there are flaws from that pictures. Everything looks ok but it'd be difficult to see a crooked marker @ 6-o-clock/12-o-clock
  3. Correct, that's true, no counterfeit logo on the 4th gen caseback. But I guess there was no counterfeit logo on first gen Po either. I might be mistaken though.
  4. Rymeister, clone Eta is fully compatible with gen ETA. 150GBP is crazy unless It's a branded movement and this is not the case. I'd consider a Sellita 2824, they say very good things about these movements. Unfortunately I have no idea where to buy Sellita's for reasonable prices. I started a thread days ago but nobody seems to have any tip or suggestion.
  5. It should fit. Not sure if the caseback of the new 5th gen is any better of the old 4th gen Po though. I have never had the chance to compare the two in the flesh Curious to know, please keep us posted.
  6. If you're UPO comes with a 2824 inside...go ahead and buy a new 2824, dial and hands will fit the new movement
  7. I have a similar problem with my seagull , Eta2824 clone. I had fixed the kw and after few weeks the stem couldn't stand in place anymore: my guess is the setting lever wasn't working properly to "lock" the stem in position. I bought a setting lever gen ETA and replaced the old one. I'll see if it's a long term fix or if it's time to ship the movement to someone more skilled than me
  8. So you confirmed they are not the best supplier to deal with. I cannot even get offended ...it seems to be a standard behave from their side.
  9. Is it me or these guys really suck at CS? In my previous order they shipped to me 2 wrong items, I asked explanations and I was told "we think we shipped the right ones 'cause our codes match". Ok It was just a couple of freaking datewheels.... In my current order I received a confirmation for the full PO and after some days an invoice with a cancelled item. No warning, no communication. What if i wanted all the items together? Now I'm forced to place another Po from a different supplier. What really [censored] me off if the lack of communication. Are we sure they are located in UK and not in China??!! Any suggest for alternative Eu suppliers very welcome. Thanks
  10. I don't remember where but I saw a pic of a gen 3717 with these all-black hands.
  11. Uhmm I'd prefer a source outside the rep world in this case. I have the feeling they drop bad movements in our reps.
  12. I need a new 2824 movement and I was considering purchasing a clone from sellita or seagull. Do you guys know where I can buy it at a decent price? Thanks
  13. A decent printer is not enough unfortunately. You need to know how to create a good datewheel and you need a gen datewheel to start.
  14. Ryan, that's a common issue in reps and fixable resizing the stem. As far as I know It's not a big deal.
  15. I'd say risk's close to zero for USA ---> Canada and Canada ---> USA If I were located in USA/Uk I'd ask The Zigmeister support regularly, He worked on my 3717 few years ago and the job was amazing to say the least. Pleasant and fast communication. If you want a methodical, well organized, meticulous and very skilled watchsmith, he's the one. Only downside, he's very busy ... need to book a slot in advance.. He's also selective with customers, that's not a problem if you're not a jerk time-waster.
  16. Rob, that's the tough part Joking aside, as usual you're completely right, for a good job you need tools and skills, but sometimes it's fun to try out as long as we are disposed to trash a watch.
  17. It's called Devcon, bought on CousinsUk, not sure if it's the best choice for this kind of jobs though
  18. Yeah, exactly, just a little bit of epoxy on the threads and a bit on the outside (very tiny quantity). I know very well it's not easy at all to apply glue .... and to be honest I was very surprised such a small quantity was enough to keep the tube in place (touching wood...) Next week end I should have the chance to try to put together all the other parts except the crystal. Enough to say if I'm all set or if I'm not.
  19. Crap, that means I'll be in the same boat as you once the watch is all together.
  20. Ryan, tube seems to be well glued to the case and the crown screws in well. As for the stem lenght I cannot say a word since I haven't tried yet to mount the movement and other parts (still waiting for my coated crystal and a reliable movement). I'll be ordering e new stem soon so that I can size it properly. One last thing, I have the feeling the tube sticks out 1/2 mm too much so that the crown looks longer. Despite that I'm happy I didn't screw up everything. Not yet.
  21. Ryan, I did the same to my 42mm PO yesterday and I must admit the tube was a [censored] to remove. It didn't screw out at all. I had to shatter it in pieces with a file. At one point I thought I had completely ruined the case. At the end I just use some epoxy to glue the gen tube in place. I was scared I had put some epoxy also on the internal thread of the tube but thankfully when I tried to screw in the crown, it was working well. I made the same for the HV (by the way, thanks again FxrAndy for the gift) and was not quick at all. I must have been not very lucky but there was no way to unscrew the 2 freaking tubes.
  22. Out of curiosity, was the tube removal an easy fix? I heard some tubes just unscrew other don't Thanks for sharing
  23. Bad news for me. That was the main (only?) reason to go gen for me.
  24. I ordered dw ETA280225571BW3 and they sent me this They sent me this:
  25. I just received some parts I had ordered from Cousins last weeks and I had a bad surprise: the datewheel I received is not what I expected This is the part number ETA280225571BW3 It's the white wheel with black date numbers. I'm sure the black wheel with white numbers used in UPo and 42mm PO is the part ETA280225571WB3 description on Cousins web site is the same so I assumed it was the correct datewheel. This is what I need, Can someone please provide a correct part number? Ebauches # 2557/1 Date Dial @3 for ETA 2804 unfortunately I'm Eu located and Ofrei is not an option Thank you
