  1. Agreed, it's not very accurate but overall quality is excellent. I'm considering to buy a A21j for an homage project.
  2. Good question. I tried but no luck so i bought that SMP chrono from silix for 140 USD (yes, no mistake, it's a special offer). I sold other parts and the insert was almost for free at the end of the day. I bought that watch also for the bracelet but i found out it's not compatible, different sizes. Nope. It's really difficult to get a decent SMP bracelet nowadays.
  3. Case is from Mary - Watch-international: the watch was originally a SMP Bond which means you need a new insert, dial, hands and bracelet. Sorry for the late replay buddy, i'd say it''d be too close to the gen price if you are not patient enough to find good deals on ebay. For example i bought a brand new dial for 60 bucks, a used bezel/insert for 50 bucks and labor was from Domi at a reasonable price. If you had to buy all these parts at Ofrei's price i'd say it's not worth it. Insert: i reckon it's an important upgrade but you don't need necessarly a gen bezel or insert: there's a very accurate insert ina SMP chrono black rep. It's really spot on. http://www.1-pc8838.com/omse10012-divers-chrono-25945200-black-a7750-28800bph-p-2926.html No need to say you have to be patient, very patient.
  4. Agreed, not my cup of tea, too busy
  5. here a pic to explain better what i'm talking about gen on the left, as you can see texture is more grainy
  6. Nope but if you ask him i'm sure he knows what you're talking bout. The Zigmeister did it to several posters here, Stephan might be one of them if memory supports me.
  7. I'm shipping to Domi mine as well. Maybe you can ask him to spray some matte lacquer on the dial.
  8. Thanks, i have a small can here, i'll have a try
  9. How about using WD40? is it a bad idea?
  10. Rosnik grazie mille, ho visto solo ora il tuo intervento.
  11. How is it possible they rep the Ploprof and they don't rep this?
  12. If it's a keeper i'll invest some money in a E7750/servicing otherwise sell it as broken watch or take it apart and sell spares.
  13. out of curiosity, how much for the gen caseback? Congratulations, a real keeper!
  14. Andy i'll have a look if i can find it. Tamiya was considered one of the best choices. In the model shop where i was there was also another "made in japan" matte spray and i was told it was better. However i think it's my fault not tamiya's.
  15. I read Tamiya spray works well, better than low budget airbrush. I didn't want to spend big money for a airbrush i'm gonna use few times per year. Moreover i wasn't aware too much paint could have covered white parts. Live and learn. Thanks mate
  16. I just made my first try and the result is not good. I used a Tamiya TS-80. I Bad result for one main reason: some writings are almost covered and hardly readable. Do you think i used too much spray? I have to admit it was very wet. Second, there are some texture but i reckon it's not my fault in this case, just the wrong spray product (assuming there's a product without this side effect). Of course i used a dial i don't need but now i'm afraid to try with one dial i want to keep. Any tip much appreciated. R.
  17. Good tip, thanks Mike
  18. Chief sorry for bumping this thread once more but a i have a question for all you guys. As said and showed here the big difference is the different texture presence on the dial. Do you think it would be possible to improve the rep dial with a matte lacquer spray? If yes, would you suggest a specific one? Gen on the left, rep on the right (thanks to the poster who shared this pic, can't remember the name, sorry for that mate)
  19. If i'm not mistaken there's a difference between gen and rep: rep has glossy dial whereas gen has a beautiful matte dial. Beautiful watch though.
  20. True, it's indeed cheaper. But not necessarily the best solution unless you're very lucky to find a properly serviced and well lubricated A7750 and skilled enough to do the job yourself without ruining anything. Personally i don't think it's a good idea to replace a A7750 with another one to find out after few months there's some issue again. I reckon there are no valid shortcuts, just 2 options: replace it with a E7750 or get it serviced.
  21. I wish i could, but i would never be able to service a movement like that.
  22. That's the point. You can easily find a A7750 replacement but what's the point if it gets broken in few weeks. Moreover unless you can do it by yourself you still have to pay someone to do the job (on 7750s subdial hands are difficult to replace sometimes)with absolutely no guarantee the watch will be running well for at least a couple of years. Not to mention all other issues related to using the chrono function (slipping hands in primis).
  23. Domenico goditi le vacanze, rilassati e riposati mi raccomando che devi dare il meglio di te quando torni e ricevi i miei due pargoli. Davvero, buone vacanze.
  24. I have had 5 7750s and the only one that still runs like a champ is the only low-beat i own (by the way, great power reserve and also accurate... touching wood). All the others have/had some issue: poor power reserve, inaccuracy, chrono issues. Unlike By-Tor i have the impression the movement is not very reliable and when i buy a 7750 watch i'm always ready to invest extra money in a service, that's why i'm reluctant to add to my collection new 7750 watches. Unless i really love some model... i'll stay away.
