  1. Forgot to say, new noobmariners have (bad) engraved rehaut. They are cheap, very cheap but out of the box they can be very disappointing.
  2. By-Tor is right (should i say as usual?). I also wanted to buy a noobmariner from Timeshops but i realized they have low quality finishings. The submariner has very often crooked crystal and cheap bracelet, the seadweller, another watch i had a look to, horrible SEL gaps. Unless you're not picky at all, despite the good price, it's not worth it. I gave up, at least to buy from Timeshop. I prefer to spend some more bucks and have it quality checked. It's different if you're looking for a Sub-C in that case overall quality is better (but be careful again to not centered pearl and crooked crystal). By the way, the pic posted by Jkay is mine and yes, he's correct, crystal is crooked (thankfully an easy mod).
  3. Mate, no offense taken from your previous message, not at all. I know very well almost all inserts are disappointing somehow. As dluddy said a SMP chrono insert would be a great solution....too bad is not that easy to find a dealer disposed to source spares. If you find one please let me know i'm also looking for some spare parts.
  4. I wouldn't say ugly. Sure it's not accurate but after all you knew. If you want a accurate pearl there 2 options so far: - use a gen insert - mod a rep pearl (or the new one you have). Unfortunately you need to have some skills to do this (personally i can't , i have not enough tools and experience).
  5. I have always thought 43mm was too much for that kind of case and dial. I'm not surprised at all to hear the gen is only 39mm. It's a shame cause it's really a classy watch.
  6. Good choice buddy
  7. By-Tor you arised a good point but i cannot even consider a Skyland for myself, way too thick (pity cause i love that dial ). I own a 12mm Sub and i think sometimes it's too flat compared to the new Sub-c. Moreover i like the idea of having a datewheel but no mag. I'm afraid i'll end up ordering a SSD light to see what i personally prefer.
  8. Hi all, i'm just wondering if the SSD would fit my 6.8" wrist. I've never tried one and i'm wondering if it's more similar to the new SUb ceramic or to the old submariner. I read it's 2 mm thicker, due also to the thicker crystal, than the Submariner but i'd like to know if this is very evident or not so much. Besides, i read the dial is smaller, so ipresume it looks even smaller than the submariner on the wrist. Am i correct? I know it's been discussed many times and it's a very common dilemma, please just be patient. Thanks guys
  9. Excellent collection By-Tor. How about adding a IWC to the group? Slevin Aquatimer with bracelet or 3717 are both great choices imho.
  10. Thanks mate, very interesting write-up and beautiful watch
  11. I don't know why i don't feel the need to upgrade my 3717 dial after The Zigmeister relumed and thinned the 4 markers, also from pics the difference doesn't look so huge. Am i mistaken? Maybe in the flesh the difference is evident.
  12. It's still in parts, i just received gen hands and crystal with Ar coating. It's gonna be ready next week..hopefully.
  13. As far as i know the answer is no: rep SMP doesn't accept genuine bezel unless you mod the case and honestly i'm not sure it's worth it if you pay the bezel so much (especially if you consider the value of a good used gen): the rep bezel is pretty the same, what makes a huge difference is the insert and the pearl. If you're skilled enough you can try to mod your pearl, there should be a tutorial on RWG. However, Domenico made this modification to my SMP and the result is excellent, the gen bezel works like a charm. No problem for hands, crystal and dial, straight swap if you have a ETA movement. Good luck.
  14. No surprise, he shipped for free a spare part to me as well. Really a great guy.
  15. Try to have a look on alpha watches, they should have a dark blue insert for cheap.
  16. Thanks, Doofus, good choice for a big saving
  17. Is there a visible difference between the stainless steel of the bracelet and the ss steel of the genuine case?
  18. Agreed, shame for the aged lume and dial size, otherwise pretty good
  19. I originally paid my 4th gen 160$ shipped, Paul was selling at amazing prices in that period and i sold it for 140$ It was more than 3 years ago if i'm not mistaken.
  20. Andy thanks but i was told Omega doesn't sell spare hands for this model. I'm gonna use rep hands, too bad lume will be not that good compared to the dial.
  21. That's a non issue since omega doesn't sell spares for this watch. Too bad.
  22. Andy i'm surprised as well, once i found on internet a gen adv with this exact dial and chinese made the same rep version (i own one, gift for my father) but i have never seen a Aqua Terra in the flesh or for sale with this dial. The lume is not as good as in my gen SMP but very close.
