  1. Agree with the statement above. Many of my friends are buying gen because they make a "profit" out of it. But actually the profit is lesser than what you would have gotten from bank deposit interest. Everybody is hoping their gen will be valuable like newman's daytona. Which is too far fetched IMHO. I would buy one or two gen though. Just because I love the model a lot and I can't find a decent rep for it.
  2. LOL. I am thinking of a teju lizard or a matt black alligator. It's subtle but looks luxurious. Well they are pricey but hey that watch deserve the best strap money can buy. Another option if you want rugged look then a swiss ammo or german ammo from dangerous9 will look mighty nice.
  3. Time to get an ABP bund strap to finish off the look
  4. Good idea. Please post the pic of the 389 after the same treatment.
  5. That's not a toy car sir. The price of car in singapore is crazzzyy. that's A's ride to the office everyday
  6. He's just lonely because he is retired already.
  7. @Panerai153 what a great post. It is all true what you said. Great read.
  8. My honpo 28a fitted on a pam438 ceramic bracelet. Nice fitment and matching black/pencil lead color.
  9. Just realized I posted on a wrong thread
  10. One thing that has to be mentioned is that the hand on the subdial @12 for JF is white, while the Noob one is silver as per gen.
  11. Finally, the watch is done. It took JJ only 10 days to assemble to whole thing. Now, the watch has: Yuki Case Rolex 1570 movement Gen Spider Dial Gen 703 Crown (JJ opted to use the Yuki Tube instead due to better condition) Gen T-19 (Service) Gen 580 endlink Gen Hands Gen Spring bars Cartel 93150 Bracelet Case was modified a little bit around CG area. The inside of the case was machined a little bit to fit the gen movement. Pics: What's next? I might get a gen insert if I have extra fund laying around. But, I am content with the watch as is. I am a sucker for spider dial.
  12. I got it from another member. i think it's an MBW case. It is in good hand now, and he's prone to do a C&R lol, so i might get the chance to get it back in an even better shape.
  13. I am still undecided about the hands. Most gen hands that I have seen looks too "used" compared to the case and the rest of the parts. JJ will supply a gen spec hands for this build, if it turns out not fulfilling enough, I will go with gen hands.
  14. This will be the last 5513 I have and this one will be a keeper for sure when it's done. I have bought and sold many 5513's. First one was Donerix 5513 that I sold to a member here. Keep begging him to sell it back to me but he wouldn't. Which I can completely understand. It is a beautiful watch. I wish I didn;t sell it in the first place so I won't spend this much on 5513's. Spec was: MBW case reshaped Yuki dial relumed by Donerix Gen service plexi Gen crown Yuki stretch rivet bracelet Gen pearl Second 5513 was JJ/Rolexaddict build Spec was: MBW/MBK case Ofrei T19 Superdome Gen crown Whoopy Gilt Dial Third 5513 was from Jordan, a member here. The watch took ages to come. It was a thing of beauty but while waiting for it I bought a gen 5513 spider dial. So I sold it not long after it arrived Spec was: Gen Dial Gen Service Plexi Gen Crown Gen Tudor Hand Gen Service Insert Now, I embark on the fourth 5513 build. As I said earlier, I found a 553 spider dial for sale in VRM. Having a gen spider 16750, I am thinking of having another spider dial build in the form of a sub. So I bought the dial thinking that I will use it for the one I got from Jordan. But then I read how that the unwritten rule of the trade is not to cut the feet of a gen dial, so I bought a 1570 no date movement to save the dial's feet. I was gonna save on the case, and bought a cartel 5513, but sold it soon after thinking that the dial and movement deserve a better case, so I buy a yuki case with custom SN to match the dial's year. I also sourced a gen service plexi and gen crown+tube. I sourced a gen service insert but sold it to get a mid font insert instead. Without further ado, here are the parts ready to be sent to JJ: Any input for the build would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  15. Here are some pics of the newly released Noob DSSD compared to Gen DSSD. The gen one has the Mark 1 dial which is the same dial used in all DSSD reps so far. I am not really good with words so I will let the pictures do the talking. Just for a rough guideline. On the gen, the date is set on 14, and on the rep, the date is set on 2. The crown on the rep is pointing at 5 0'clock. and the gen is pointing at 3 o'clock. DIAL Rep (Left) vs Gen (Right): rep: gen: rep: gen: rep: gen: rep: gen: Based on my observation (having to be very anal),, here is the difference between the rep and gen: -Pearl is smaller on the rep. The gen fills the whole triangle while the rep (mine) has some gaps to the triangle (and not centered) -OGEV text is very slightly thinner on the rep. The text is flat on both. -Font on the dial is slightly different, but only noticeable on macro shots. HE VALVE Rep (Left) vs Gen (Right): Rep (Top) vs Gen (Bottom): Base on my observation: The gen He Valve is sunken while the rep is almost flat. The inner ring is also more defined on the gen. Position of the He Valve is almost the same SEL FITMENT gen: rep: Base on my observation: The End Link on the gen is more sticking out compred to rep BRACELET & CLASP gen: rep: gen: rep: Rep (Left) vs Gen (Right): -edited- rep: gen: Based on my observation: -The bracelet in general is almost similiar. The gen has more satin look to it and better brushing. -The clasp is where the huge differences show. The black paint on the gen is evident. -The crown on the gen is slimmer and taller compared to rep. CROWN & CG SHAPE Rep (Top) vs Gen (Bottom) Added: (CG Shape) Top (Rep) vs Gen (bottom): Rep (Left) vs Gen (right) Rep (Left) vs Gen (right) Based on my obervation, the rep is almost spot on with the gen. Can't really notice any difference except the arch on the gen is slightly more pronounced CASEBACK Rep: Gen: Based on my observation, the rep looks spot on. LUME Rep (Left) vs Gen (Right) The gen has brighter lume and more "blue" to it. But the one on the rep is superlumed already. Overall, I think the rep is very close to gen. The only thing that can be used to identify the rep comparing side by side (if you already know the gen vs rep comparison) will be the end link/sel fitment on the gen is more protruding. And the paint on the clasp is kind of bad on the rep. The insert is still different from the gen but it is much better than the older version. This one has a slight platinum color to it but still too white compared to gen. The bezel turn is more pronounced on the gen but the rep isn't too far off. A huge improvement to the older version. I owned a BK DSSD and a pbdad/BK DSSD beofre, but the quality can't match the gen. So I bought the gen one. This latest version is pretty close to the gen, which makes me seriously consider selling the gen. Having said that, if there are some areas you want me to cover, please do ask before I sell the gen. Hope this review helps. Thanks
  16. I am an IUB graduate. It was quite a long time ago. Go Hoosiers. I have three watchboxes now. All of them are full as of now. I am on a strict sell before you buy policy. So far, I think I am doing quite well. Welcome to the forum.
  17. Puretime does work that way. QC takes a few days. Shipping confirmation usually 1-2 days after QC approval. But they are ok. I use them all the time. Maybe they are busy with the pam382 preorder, the other orders got neglected. Be patient. They will finish the pam382 preorder y tuesday.
  18. Oh another story unrelated to this AP ROO 44mm. I was on a queue for taxi in sg. The guy standing in fornt of me was wearing AP ROO Tour (the blue one offered by ryan). I have one exactly like that. And I know what to look for in term of flaws. Long story short even at that distance I can be 100% sure if that's rep or gen. Because the guy keep moving. If he were to hand me over the watch or stop moving for a while, I am sure I can tell. So, moral of the story, on the wirst, it is very very hard to distihguish.
