As Ubi mentioned, I have a movement ring/holder that was manufactured for franken projects to fit ETAs in genuine cases. I have a bunch for various cases and movements. cheers.

Today at 4pm. I'm now unemployed... sort of. We have a few ventures in the works that I have been trying to launch... so I guess I have that. I've been employed or in school since I was 15 so the thought of not going to work tomorrow is a bit weird.
-
Well, to say I didn't know it was coming would be a lie. It was inevitable. I was in a dying industry. And quitting would just be leaving money on the table. The only real kick in the balls was the new 18K sub the VP was wearing. He was going on about the economy and [censored], so I asked him about his new Rollie. He pretended not to hear it and pulled his sleeve over his new watch. At least the Veuve is going down nicely! I think I may go golfing tomorrow. I'm long overdue for a round!

Well, today I got the call. And not the good call. Well, it wasn't that bad, but still feels like a kick in the balls. It is never good when the VP arrives in town and you "get the call" to meet him at the hotel. Especially when you don't know he is in town! Are you following me? Yeah, I'm now another statistic, I guess. But really it isn't that bad. I was given a fantastic severence and now I can focus on some other ventures. At least it is summer and I can enjoy some time with my family before I have to think about work. I'm about to uncork a bottle of Veuve Clicquot to celebrate a new stage in my life. Cheers!

Hey Ubi! We have similar taste! I see a couple pairs that I own in your collection as well! And I also wear Frye's! If we were ever to find ourselves at a GTG, we would have to call each other first to see what each other was wearing! I also have a few pairs of seven for mankind, energie, older paper&denim, older ernest sewn, and levis. I mainly wear diesel though. I avoid True Religion like the plague. Don't know why, but I can't stand them... same with anything Ed Hardy. Back to boots. I love my Frye's. They've seen a lot of wear over the years, and just get better with age. For a different style boot, I just picked up a pair of Sebago Lighthouse boots. Basically a cross between a deck shoes and boot. Very comfortable and well made. I also tend to wear Chuck taylors... got a few pairs of them as well. A couple pair of Prada, most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. And some Fluvogs.

I don't know about Lani, but it is getting me motivated! And that is the last thing I need right now! Another project to become obsessed with! -

Lovin' the gilt! what a beauty. -
Nice Job! That looks great! The 2834-2 enlargment ring from borel is nice too! Good to see it did not need to be modified for the rep case, just a straight drop in. I used to use them for my projects, but they need too much work to fit in a gen case. I really like the look of that dial!

Oh God! I would not want to see the guy's arm after the accident.

The new Milgauss 116400 V Anniversary Model with Green Sapphire Glass

hmmmm... still some time to go on this auction and lots of room for snipers. Anyway, would you buy from some unknown ebay seller with ZERO feedback when it comes to watches, or from a reputable AD and have full paperwork and a warranty? Keep in mind that there still is value in where you buy something. [censored], believe it or not, there is value in the country code on your papers? And it does look a lot cooler when your papers have a "5th Avenue NYC" dealer stamp as opposed to say.... Bellis Fair Mall! Or papers filled out with someone else's name from Irvine, CA. -
Hmmm. I guess the best way would be to wear it. I've worn it for the last 5 days, even in the shower. Seems to have broken in a bit. Maybe throw it in with the laundry... especially when washing your jeans. What are you wearing your corvus on?
-
So early this week a Corvus Nato strap arrived in the mail. I don't have any "bond" subs, but I figured I would order one anyway. Off to the safe to see what I can fit her to. I dig out my Franken 16610. Boy, what a nice combo.... so nice... that I have worn it all week. A couple wrist shots from this evening. I'm glad I had not takers on this when I had it for sale. I have a whole new interest again! Anyway, the Corvus is a great strap! If you haven't added one to your collection, I recommend it. They are a bit pricey for Nato, but worth the addition. Nice weave, great hardware. The Franken: my early 90's hommage. modified Eurotimez case (proper lug holes and CG's) gen tritium dial gen tritium insert gen 3135 date disc gen 703 crown gen 2mm springbars gen eta 2824-2 clark 295C clark hand set and the beautiful Corvus nato!

yeah, I know. I'm crazy. But the guy that bought it really wanted it, so I let it go. I did get another case with the serial I wanted, but it has a problem with the tube hole, so I am sending it back. But back to the serial. I want to use the serial from the DJ case I salvaged the movement from. This way I know the origin of the serial and it is a match with the COSC on the movement. In hindsight, I should have sold the case, AFTER, I found a new one. I do have a smooth bezel for the case. Very hard to find bezel for the case as most were fluted. I also have a SS crown. But I'm not planning on wearing it anywhere. Just needed a home for the movement and dial.
-
I'm still working on my 1680 project. I had an excellent case, but wanted one with a custom serial so I sold it to another member. Now I'm stuck playing the waiting game to get myself another case. Now I have the movement dial and hand set but no home for them, so I decided to a safe place would be to keep them in an old datejust case! The movement is a Rolex 1570. I just got it back from a complete service and had a radial silver date disc installed and a new mainspring for good measure. The dial is a genuine RSC replacement dial with luminova markers as are the hands. These babies glow like a torch! I think it looks pretty cool! Just don't mind the YG crown with the WG bezel, or the specs of dust on the crystal. This is just for fun!

LOL!!! Classic!
-
@ JJ - LOL Nah, wouldn't want that to mess up the beautiful AR coating! But... that did give me an idea. maybe have the finger print laser etched into the crystal and only visible from certain angles. Maybe for a different project down the road. Oh yes, we took the "wear" into consideration. The designer recommended we go with 10K for durability. Already set up the savings account for the eternity ring!

if I could get this property. Bueller house Kitchen looks like it could use an update, but no big deal. I would just need to get a 1961 Ferrari GT to park in the living room!

Thanks for the info guys. Very much appreciated. so is there a way to tap the case in order to fit the larger tube? I guess I would have to get a custom tap made?
-
Thanks guys. Please PM or email me if you do find anything out. best regards.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall a topic a long time ago about a batch of genuine Rolex 703 tubes that had an odd-ball thread size. They were larger then the standard tubes. Apparently, they were made by Rolex to install in cases that had worn threads in the case. So the case was retapped, but then a larger tube was required. I recall that a few people bought these tubes, but were unable to fit them because they were too big. Does anyone have one of these tubes?

The new Milgauss 116400 V Anniversary Model with Green Sapphire Glass
stilty replied to JoJo35's topic in The Rolex Area
What a beauty! Thanks for sharing. One question. Do the orange markers glow? I looked at a gen, but wasn't able to see if they did glow... and the salesman kinda freaked out when I tried to get get some darkness by putting the watch under my jacket to check! LOL! We tried to cover the dial with out hands, but that did not work. How about a gen group shot? -
Early Eta GMT/EXII 24 Hour Hand Modification

nice post. i have yet to encounter one of these beasts, but if I ever do, I know who to turn to for some advise! -
thanks guys! yeah, they are a pretty cool design. I really like the handcrafted feel. they almost look like hammered copper. the only tough part was sticking our fingers in molten gold for the imprint! We also had the designer stamp our initials, as well as our kids initials on the inside. Should be a nice keepsake for them after we are long gone!

Anyone buy one fo these 127 crystals from the bay?
stilty replied to stilty's topic in The Rolex Area
Thanks guys! It is just when you see them sell for so cheap.... anywhere form $19 to $50, it just makes you wonder. Especially when everyone else has them listed for $150 and up!
