Just a word of caution. Make sure you get a straight answer as to what movement that case accepts. I was unable to get a clear answer and was always told. "it takes both movements". I tried to explain that the 3035 and 3135 are totally different movements and the stem position is different. Even after explaining that, I was still told the case takes both movements. He's calling it a 16610 case, so it should take a 3135. If it accepts 3035, then it should be a 16800 case.
-
16613 takes a 3135 movement. But you should be able to fit a 3035 in a Eurotimez V.3 case. I was able to test fit a 2824-2 in the V.3 case with the use of one of my movement holders that was made to fit a 3035 case. The stem aligned no problem. I don't think they are available anymore so you would have to find one from another member. The V.3 accepts a gen crystal and bezel assembly.
-
Definitely NOT vintage. The case is only 3 years old. Factor in the cost of a bezel assembly, crystal, dial, crown, movement, and bracelet. One VERY expensive project. Please tell me the point?

wow. it ended at $1626! 280318269401 i can't even comment.

yup, it will just drop in like in our DJ frankies! I'm already out of the running on this, as another member is willing to bid more than me, so I'm stepping back. Good luck to whoever wins!

Yeah, I thought of Sean's case, but he couldn't give me a clear answer as to what movement it is made for. He told me it fits both 3035 and 3135. Well, we all know that they are completely different movements with different stem positions. He could not give me a straight answer, other than "both movement fit that case." Not the answer I'm looking for and I'm not willing to gamble on it and it is too expensive for a rep case. I have a fully modded Eurotimez case now that I am hoping to find time to get to. drilled lugs, new tube. All gen parts with the exception of the mid case, case back, and tube. Will drop in a 2824-2 as the case is machined for a 2836-2. This way I can fit a gen date disc in there. Hopefully in the next few months I'll get to it. I've found myself very busy lately, and hardly have time to visit here, or even complete my date disc project. But I still make time to look for parts.

The 2892-A2 with my holder will fit no problem. Case is cut for a 3135, so everything will line up. Another member has contacted me with what he intends to bid, so I will leave this one alone unless he changes his mind. He is willing to pay more than me, so I'm not going to drive up the price on him by bidding. And yes, the bidding is already getting high for only being listed one day. I'm sure it will go for $700-$800, or higher. Definitely more than I want to pay. Factor in a complete bezel assembly and crystal, for another $400-$450 for SS, and at least $800 if you want 18K. Add in the cost of a 2892-A2, gen dial, gen date disc, gen crown, gen bracelet, and were pushing $2500+ for a franken. Better to just buy a complete gen. But I'm sure someone will snap it up.

There is a gen sub case I'm seriously interested in buying on Ebay. Just wondering if anyone is watching as well and has an intent to buy. Case is in the Phillipines. Not going to post the item number, because if you are watching it, you will already know what I am talking about. I have an idea of what i want to pay, and I know what the seller is expecting. If you are watching it and intend to bid, please contact me. I don't want to bid if your max bid is higher than what I am willing to throw down. And if my max bid is higher than yours, I would appreciate it if you don't drive up the price by bidding either. Although, i'm sure it will sell for way more than what it is worth.

Nice collection. the TT's are growing on me and I'm sure I will have to build one for myself. Never say never!

good to see it come to life! Nice work on fitting a gen dial without having to remove the feet!

I've been asked by a few people on where to find a tropic 22 crystal for 1016 projects. Not the easiest to find. But good news, it looks like Clarks now has some and at a good price. I haven't ordered one, but I have some of his other crystals and the quality is very good. Item: 250361294589

To lower the date disc onto the movement. You must fit the tooth of the date disc into the cutout notch. Just above the "V" shaped spring.
-
Definitely. Maybe to be safe, you should check the COSC and serial number with Rolex before you buy. They should be a match from the factory. Unless, the movement was replaced, but even then, if done by Rolex, the new COSC # would be registered to the case serial by RSC.

I'd say it is expensive! I had engraving done a few years ago via the mall special. cost me $30 for both lugs. Font was not identical, but very close. If his fonts are identical, as well as the engravings, maybe I'll fire him a best offer of $50! That is about all it is worth.

All right. I know what the english phones say as I have one... but what about in other languages? Italian? French? Spanish? Dutch? Please post if your phone is in that language.
-
Wow. good source, a little expensive, but if you need a part at least you can find it. Checking 3135 parts:

Kind of a silly question, but what does your default iPhone signature say in your home language? My default was "Sent from my iPhone" I received an email from a German member, and his said "Von meinem iPhone gesendet" So naturally, just to screw with my friends, I changed my sig from English to German!

How to enlarge the inside diameter of a tube?
stilty replied to freddy333's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
My guy at the counter of my local supply house, just sold me a regular reamer. He told me there is a reamer made for this job, but they would have to order it in. If you have an inexpensive aftermarket tube, practice with that first, but I'm sure you will be able to get it the first time around. -

old school tube eh? Those old tubes, needed to be installed, then enlarged with a reamer. I've done a couple and it is not that big of a deal, but I wasn't too worried about it, as I was using aftermarket tubes. but do it by hand. safest and easiest way. just take a little material off at a time until your crown fits. PM automatico... he'll give you the 411. -
Where are you located? Canada? Call Page & Wilson in Vancouver. Very reasonable, and they can just send it to you via good ol' Canada Post. I don't have any spares right now, other wise I could just mail you one. I only have 2892 spares.

The blank discs are getting painted. Hopefully I will be able to pick them up by the end of the week. I am having them painted white and champagne, and the painter is working at matching a silver finish, (not brushed radial) that I found on another 1570 disc. Still trying to perfect the brushed blanks. I hired a professional painter and left him with a gen white, gen champagne, and the gen silver painted disc to match color and texture. I now have cliche plates for three layouts. I still have to create a 3035 file with round 3's and open 6 and 9's. But for now, once I get the blanks, production can start on the following. -- 1:1 1575 Flat top 3 layed out for ETA date progression -- 1:1 3135 layout -- Noob 3135 layout - From the 3 noob dials that I have examples, they measure 0.14mm further right then the gen 3135. The noob date window is also 2% smaller then a gen I measured. So I reduced the font size by 2%. Also, these will all be thin overlays. Material is 0.075mm in thickness.

Wow! Here is audio of Christian Bale's blowup! He is yelling and swearing at the Director of Photography! Warning: Extreme use of the F-Bomb in the audio. http://odeo.com/episodes/24029114-http-www...ristianbale-mp3

The silver plating went fast. I was dipping, not brushing (or pen). Only a few seconds for a thin layer. I repeated a few times. With silver it goes black, then needs to be polished. For some reason I could not get a nice nickel finish with their kit. I was plating brass with both kits. Also, you may want to try electroless plating. Most decorative plating is too thick for watch applications. You may end up with too thick a layer and parts won't fit. With electroless, they can control how thick of plate they can apply.

first off... beautiful work on the mainplate! For rhodium plating it might be best to find a jeweller to do it. They plate rings all the time. I have tried some home plating kits with mixed results. I bought a couple kits from a company called caswell plating. http://www.caswellplating.com/ I tried their nickel kit with mixed to very poor results. I also tried their silver kit and had pretty good results. They have rhodium kit, but it is $180! http://www.caswellplating.com/kits/rhodium.html That is why I figure it might be cheaper just to go to a jeweller and have them do it for you.

Would a Freemason wear a rep or gen? What is considered moral? Strange questions, yes. But curious none the less.
