  1. If your HW measures 1.79mm, then you have standard height. The next length for the hour wheel is 2.04mm. If you swap out the HW and 24H wheel, you will need to swap the CP as well, otherwise, you will have trouble fitting the hand on the CP. you should be okay with the 4th wheel. hand fitting height pdf
  2. have you guys measured the length of either the hour wheel of 24h wheel? Take a measurement and compare to the ETA chart. There are two fitting heights for the 2893-2 and a good chance your movements are all stock hand fitting length. If they are, you can order taller CP, HW, 24H wheel. You will only gain an extra 0.25mm, but it will help you cheat those hands on there. Sounds like a big can of worms to me though. good luck guys! 2893-2 fitting
  3. There is a reason you only find pics on Omegas. They do not fit Rolex very well. Even with the adjustable insert the do not fit. I've tried and really wanted to make it fit, but no go. Also, the insert only fits 1.5mm springbars. But to be fair, I've only tried to fit it to a Sub with 2mm springbars. You may have better luck with a DJ, but I somehow doubt it.
  4. for that price, it is probably a clone movement. Probably a sea-gull The Tudor logo on the rotor and other markings look to be a sticker and not actual engravings.

not only the FAKE case, but how did he fit that movement in there? That movement is a salvage from a 1601/3 case. note the calendar seat is beveled for the pie pan dial. These do not fit into 1680 cases, the diameter is too big. Time will tell.

Dial looks fine to me, as do the hands. I think it is the posters English skills. he must have meant RSC replacement dial, not RSC relume dial, or whatever he typed That is a rare dial actually. The early service dials were old blanks with SWISS - T<25, but lumed in luminova. Later service dials were SWISS. And yes, TJ, not likely that Rolex would relume anything. Why would they when they can sell you some new parts!

Not as well educated as the Franken builders around here. It is all in the details for the Franken crew around here!
  8. There is the problem which is leading to confusion. Your 2824-2 must not have a 2.70mm CP as originally posted. Probably the stock 2.20mm. And yes, R is 100% correct with the difference in stem position between the two. But since the OP stated you had a 2.70mm CP, I was just stating that swapping a 2836-2 would not make any difference. For a visual, picture a 2824-2 w/ 2.70mm CP sitting on your bench uncased. Now put a 2836-2 beside it. If you were to measure from the bench to center stem, it would be identical between the two. And if you were to measure from the bench to the top of the CP on both, it would be identical. Yes, it is now a moot point. But my post was going on the assumption that the 2824-2 had a 2.70mm CP, the stem was aligned, and a spacer was used. But now it looks like the 2824-2 is stock and hence the hand fitting problems. peace brothers!
  9. In relation to the stem position, 2.7mm will be the same length for either movement, providing the stem is aligned and centered -on the 2824-2, a 2.7mm CP will be 1.85mm over dial seat. -on the 2836-2, a 2.7mm CP will be 1.40mm over dial seat, but remember, the 2836-2 dial seat is 0.45mm taller in order to fit the Day/Date discs. If measuring from stem position, 2.7mm will be 2.7mm in either movement. So all I'm saying is if the 2824-2 stem is centered, and he does have a 2.7mm CP, then switching to a 2836-2 will not solve anything. A centered 2836-2 and a centered 2824-2 w/ 2.7mm CP will have exactly the same fitting height in relation to the stem.
  10. Pictures would definitely help. First off, is the stem aligned and centered in the case tube? If yes, then swapping to a 2836-2 is not going to solve the problem. The CP in the 2836 is 2.7mm. What case are you using? If the stem is centered, then it could be a case issue.
  11. very good deal! Damn, wish that I had seen it sooner.
  12. You are correct. You can use a 2824-2, 2836-2, or 2846 with the taller, or shorter holder. I find it easier to have something to glue the dial to. So the taller holder is ideal for any of the vintage 1570 date projects. I have fitted both 2824-2 and 2846 with the same holder. The taller holder has the same diameter as the gen 1570 calendar seat. 26.60mm for the dial to rest on. It will drop into a 1680, 1665, 1655, 1675, 1500, 1501, etc. I have not tried it on a 1601, but it is possible as the smaller diameter may fit just inside the bevel of the pie pan dial.
  13. "What in the wide wide world of sports is a goin on here? I hired you people to get a little track laid, not to jump around like a bunch of Kansas City faggots!" check "political correctness" at the door.
  14. Thanks for the kind words. Aside from the ETA and hand set, it is a correct TT transitional sub. I doubt you will see many of these around. Oh yes, to my surprise, the hands and pearl still glow... although quite faint, but still legible at 3:30am!
  15. Well, the 2824-2 and 2836-2, and 2846 will fit in the 1680, 1665, 1655, 1675 case, but you will only be able to fit the 2824-2 in the 5513, and other non date case. I have a batch of holders to fit in the 1570 date cases, as well as a batch to fit in the 1530 non-date case. The one on the left is thinner to fit in the non date case, and the one on the right is to fit date cases. As you can see, one is taller. For example, I have the taller 1570/w date holder fixed to an ETA 2846: Then the dial sits on top of the holder: Then it is cased and secured with case clamps: Here is the stem alignment. Ever so slightly sitting deeper in the case. But done on purpose to allow for the layer of glue between dial and holder. Here is the batch that I received a few days ago. They just need to be cleaned of machine oil and inspected before I offer them for sale. I am also looking at getting them plated, but still waiting on a price. I bought one of those rhodium plating pens, and test plated the sample. It is a lot of prep work and time for me to do it, so I may outsource it, or just sell them unplated. Also, the 2824-2 is not 100% with stem alignment in the 5513 or other non date case. Here I test fitted a 2824-2 mainplate in a genuine 1002 case. The 1002 case is made for the non date 1530/1570 movement. The stem is slightly off center. It is still workable, but if you want perfect stem alignment, you will have to sand the back of your dial in order for the movement to sit deeper. Anyway, if anyone is interested, fire me a PM. These will be available soon and you can save a few bucks by buying them here. Keep in mind that these will also work in 1500 Date cases, as well as 5500, 1002, etc. For those that have salvaged their movements for sport projects! Why not buy one of these holders and drop an ETA in the old case.
  16. Wow! Looks like Yuki is a copy cat! I should be increasing the price of my holders! I have the same ones for $40! I'm just looking into getting them rhodium plated. But for now I have a batch of 2824-2 to fit in both 1570 w/ date and 1570 with no date. I'll be offering them for sale soon.
  17. Well, this is from some parts I had laying around. Gen dial and insert I've had for ages. They came in a lot of parts I bought. Never thought I would ever use them, but figured I would give it a shot. Old school silver numbers on blue with gold pearl. From transition submariner. As is the color change dial. Case is mystery case from eBay. Was listed as 16800 case, but when I received it, the engravings were 16803. That is basically what motivated me to build a TT... seeing as I already had the dial and insert. It is a very good case and made for the 3035. I installed a gen tube, and genuine gold crown. Clarks crystal fit perfectly as did the gen 18K hallmarked bezel. Drawback to the case, is the cutout for the dial is 27.3mm, so I'm limited with what dial I can use. Luckily, I had the 16803/8 dial. It fits perfectly. Powered by an ETA 2824-2. I used one of my 3035 to 2824 holders and it fit perfectly, of course. I used a genuine rolex date disc as an overlay. It is a 3055 champagne with correct period fonts. Only problem is, the numbers sit to the left a bit. I like it, but I don't love it, so this may only be a short term keeper. I may use the case to build a nice 16800 transition sub. I really like the case. perfect crown position, very nice engravings, accepts gen parts, nice crown guards, nice rehaut, and with my movement holder, the 2824-2 fits perfectly. no need for an unreliable 3035. I did rush job on the pics as I only had a short window while the kids were out. I need to set up the tripod and get better light to capture the dial. The print is still crisp and clean, it is just the laquer that is all buggered. At certain angles you can't notice, but in the sunlight, the dial looks like crap. Oh, and it is flat top S. I wish it was in better condition. but they came as a Lot, so they were basically free when I broke it down. I do have to say... nothing glitters like gold! And if I do end up ditching this project, I'll have a genuine 18K bezel available as well as a like-new 24-703-8 gold crown available. Since I installed the crown in this project, it is not new anymore. It was still sealed when I received it. As for the insert, I'll sell that too, but I doubt anyone here would be looking for a vintage insert... so off to the vintage forum. but the gold crown and bezel would be great for a TT franken.
  18. What do you think? Not much of a gold guy, but thought I would give it a go. Hard to get a dial shot, but the dial is pretty much shot anyway. An old color change, but the laquer is quite damaged. a bit of purple hue showing through 16803 between the lugs and a wristie for good measure
  19. Well, from the feedback I've received, I ordered one from Phong last weekend. He said he could have it for me next week. He did discount from his first quote, so I ordered it.
  20. If I'm not mistaken, there is a risk of spider webs with GS if you are not careful. I don't use the stuff. spiderwebs = fine strands or whisps of glue that can get into the movement or on parts. This happens when lifting or applying glue, fine strands can follow and get into stuff. not fun or easy to clean up. Best bet is to use a 2 part slow set epoxy... or even clear silicon works quite well! Just be sure to use equally sized dots with equal spacing. just to prevent shrinkage of the glue that may pull the overly to one side or the other.
  21. in the gen world, tube would be 24-5300 crown would be 24-630-0
  22. Way to recycle and go green! Very, very, nice. the hands look awesome! did you convert the 2824-2 down to non-date function? 2 pos. stem?
  23. I've assemble all the parts I need to build a super franken 1655 EXP II. I do need some help/suggestions for a case. I was thinking Phong, but received a very high quote, (in my opinion), for a case only. mid case, caseback, and bezel, no crystal, no tube, no crown. Now I'm thinking NDT, but an not so sure on the engravings they offer. Yuki is not an option as he told me that a gen crystal will not fit. Anyone have thoughts or experience.... or even have a case they want to sell? Thanks!
  24. what a beauty! Welcome to the club. What do you think of that Rolex lumi glow?
