  1. Another one for the Monday hangover.....
  2. I have one of these. Went and fitted the display back and painted the sub hands and chrono arrow white. Also relumed the Markers. Overall a decent watch but the crown tube strips easily.
  3. I got this rep from Reg today, to save my gen from everyday dings. For the price, I have to say that I'm very pleased at how good it is! Sure, there are some flaws that are common to most rolex reps, but the more expensive reps have flaws that do not make financial sense. I think this one is very good value for money. I'll let the pics roll, and you can see for yourself If anyone is on the fence about this one, I say go for it. I highly recommend it. Just don't swamp Reg with emails just yet though, as I bought the last one! Thanks a lot Reg, pleasure doing business with you!
  4. Well said, 153. You hit the nail on the head. If fixing watches is not your full time job, who can be bothered to do it after a full days work? I've fixed watches for friends, but I implicitly tell them that I'll have it for a few weeks. Purely because I don't have the time or inclination to sit there for hours doing someones watch when I have other interests as well as my own watches to work on.
  5. I'm the opposite of some of you guys; I never take a rep on holiday! I only choose one gen and it meets all my needs. Never had waterproofing issues but I have scratched the gens while swimming, climbing and fooling around, as you do. I once went away with a rep that I thought was super reliable, only for it to stop working on the 2nd day!
  6. No I didn't get the gen part. It was just what you see in the pics
  7. The rep click spring doesn't fit into the holes on the gen bezel
  8. I heated up the bezel again, got an old wooden chair leg that was tapered, passed the bezel over it and then gently pressed down. The ceramic insert is held in only by the bezel lip. Fitting to the rep bezel wasn't a straight swap. I used a ceramic tile file to slightly reduce the outside diameter of the insert. Then it just about fitted with a click. No glue was used.
  9. Thank you so much for the advice! Brilliant! I managed to remove the inner ring by simply levering it with a screwdriver, revealing a white gasket that holds that in place. Now I will think of a way to get the insert out using a press. Will keep you posted,Cheers guys
  10. Thanks for the replies but I think the hidden ring inside the bezel is different between the Sub and the GMT. If you look closely at the underside of the gmt bezel, the scalloped part is larger diameter than the bezel internal diameter. So it can't be pushed from underneath? I have a crystal press and dies. I was thinking about heating it up again and then arranging drawing pins poking into every hole. Then apply pressure to the top of the steel bezel? I'm really paranoid about breaking it though.
  11. Guys maybe someone can help me here. I've looked at the past threads on the gen bezel subject but none detail how to separate the insert from bezel. I've got the gen bezel, and the latest Noob GMT IIc. I know the bezel isn't a straight swap so how about just the insert? I've tried gently levering it with a screwdriver, tried heating it in boiling water, but still can't get it off. Suggestions? Thanks
  12. I reckon the the stem end is broken too. Also I've had a few watches direct from TDs have physical problems straight out of the box, not apparently in qc photos. Pisses me off enough not to buy from them again.
  13. Being a communist and secretive state, China has been reverse engineering other countries products for decades. From heavy machinery to Kalasnikovs. It's like second nature and part of the manufacturing Industry. The counterfeiting is just the latest consumer offshoot of the old regime
  14. I've tried nearly all versions of gen rubber straps on my SO44 rep, and imo the only one that suited the rubber bezel and general design of the watch was the plain Pro Diver 2. The Ocean Racer was too busy, and the new Pro 3 is also a little busy . I think the casual look of the rubber bezel is hard to balance with a rubber strap, if that makes sense? I felt that the steel bracelet was the most suitable all round.
  15. I've also had reps that should have had longer hand posts. The rep makers made them too short and after one or two removals they had lost all purchase. If there was a bit more tube, I could've nipped it tighter with tweezers. And the hands would have sat more parallel to the dial. Nevertheless, it was a PITA to fix
