  1. Would it convince you? It's a pretty obvious difference between the two styles of crown.
  2. Comparing those photos to this one: I would say that the above crown is aftermarket, and seeing how easy it is to see the larger opening on the base of the coronets of the aftermarket, nothing will convince me that the above crown is gen.
  3. If you want the best, I would suggest seeing if WM9 has any AirKings. If not, you're essentially choosing between the dealers and the prices they offer, as they all carry (or can acquire) the same stock. Best of luck
  4. Depending on your wardrobe, I'd suggest the AirKing or the Exp I accordingly... AK for suits/smarter wear, Exp I for more casual...
  5. Good to see you posting again Will a new bezel really lead to less vigorous wear? Beaters are beaters for a reason, and a few nicks and dings just add to the character, and more reason to love and wear them
  6. This is the only pure white dialled watch I've had: I did have the Vacheron Constantine, but gave it to a friend as I just couldn't stand to wear it, but that was more of a cream-colored dial than pure white. I found the 113 very versatile, and great for formal or casual wardrobes. I'd definitely like to add another white dialled watch to my collection at some point, but it might not be for a while...
  7. Electric blue Seamaster, to follow the color-scheme, so it's more of an 'upgrade'
  8. Daaaaammn that is looking nice, bro

It could just be that it needs regulating. I've read about movements running very fast due to the hairspring sticking (has the effect of shortening the spring, thus speeding the movement) but that is normally things like 2 minutes fast in an hour, so 2 minutes in 24 hours, I'd suggest regulation first Best of luck
  10. I look at it in the same was as with gambling: Never gamble more than you can afford to lose. I wouldn't, and don't, buy watches if I can't afford to, as bills (sadly) have to come first. As you say, it's common sense, and a case of prioritizing funds. Not always fun, but such is life...
  11. That's a fantastic write up and checklist of mods to perform, thanks for taking the time to put it all together
  12. For someone with a low income, even 'a cheap watch' can be an expensive purchase... It just depends where one is on the financial ladder. To Tony Stark, a gen sub would be considered 'a cheap watch', it's all just a matter of perspective I've not yet sold a watch to purchase a new one, but I did sell off my collection to pay for my wedding and reception, and, if I was absolutely desperate for cash, then I would do so again.
  13. No change from me, of course, but a little low-light fun
  14. That's very true, although to be honest, I'd have to say that that might well be a flaw even I might not accept, and I'm pretty tolerant of such things. The text is correctly oriented on the main part of the clasp, so I don't know, I might accept the safety clasp being like that, I'm not sure... Admittedly, it's not the worst flaw I've seen on a watch, such as the 'steblehox' stamping on some budget Rolex clasps, but it's definitely a stupid one which need not have occurred. At least it's getting resolved
  15. Excellent As you say though, frustrating that the situation arose in the first place...
  16. Not something I'd wear myself, but that's nice
  17. Can you source a new clasp?
  18. White gold and platinum look (to the untrained eye) like stainless steel... The casual observer might not know that a particular model is supposed to be white gold or platinum, but wouldn't question a stainless steel watch. Yellow gold, on the other hand, is clearly yellow gold
  19. I was going to say it looks like an awesome blank canvas, until I scrolled down and saw the dial and hands, so now I'll just say it looks like the project is nicely underway
  20. Welcome to the party Has the movement been serviced since you got the watch? It could be that the movement needs servicing...
  21. I can't see the point of having such repetition in a collection... One of each variant of Mil-Sub, sure, but not multiples, that's a bit too OCD for me... At least there's a Snowflake in there Whoops, there're three
  22. Looking good There's nothing as satisfying as looking down, and thinking "I made that..." Have you any other projects in the pipeline?
  23. That's the watch which inspired me to 'get creative' with reps This is my favorite for a few reasons. Experiences while wearing it (at least, while wearing the case...) the fact the model is not a common sight in the rep world, and of course, that the dial was a gift, are all contributory reasons as to why it's my favorite, but the main reason, is that I assembled the watch myself, with only the case, crown and bezel being original to when the watch was first purchased, and looked thus...
