  1. Any other projects... Bracelet, hands, bezel insert, etc, all could probably be salvaged for something
  2. Wearing any watch with 'Rolex' on the dial is a guarantee of getting called out I would agree, out of the box, they're certainly nothing special, but, as J says, certainly good as parts donors
  3. I was actually looking through his site the other day, and rather liked the look of the Rolex Celini
  4. Glad to be of help, my friend No change for me, I'm still wearing my Tudor 79190 sub
  5. Having lumed this exact dial about a week ago, I know precisely what a challenge it is to do successfully. Kudos indeed
  6. Not names I even recognize, so that's a good indication if their level of 'contribution' to the community...
  7. Looking good I like the clasp, I don't think I've seen that design before
  8. Thanks for the info on the HE valve construction/operation
  9. If you want to get some beefy gouges in the case, the method I've used, is to get a pair of very sharp scissors, open them, and holding the top blade like a knife, slash into the case as if you were cutting a loaf of bread The challenge is doing it in such a way that it looks like random impact damage, rather than an artificially placed scratch
  10. I'm no expert when it comes to CGs, but they look good to me I'll tell you what I really like the look of though, that that's the caseback, with that beefy scar That is looking sweeeet
  11. That's going to look tasty when it's all put together
  12. As far as I know, the valve should not be depressable from the outside, as that would allow water pressure to open the valve and flood the case, which wouldn't be the best idea I was thinking of the Sea-Dweller which is the same age as the 16610 Submariner
  13. Nothing like a little vintage Once it's been smacked up a bit, it'll be perfect
  14. Very nicely done, my man [Edit to add] Out of curiosity, does anyone know if this is the way the HE valve operates on the modern SDs?
  15. They're called ADs Go to the authorized dealer and try on the real thing. If you like it, hop online and buy the rep. As long as you keep reasonable expectations about the product, I doubt you'll be disappointed If, of course, you don't like the watch, no need to buy the rep I've found that with watches, what looks good on the screen, might not always look so great, or 'feel right' on your wrist.
  16. What can I say that hasn't already been said? This community is the best, with a true sense and spirit of camaraderie, endless generosity and willingness to help others. What I've learned here about watches, pales into insignificance compared to what I've learned here about the really important things in life
  17. Any 'pressure seal' will be re-set when the caseback is replaced (unless the process were to somehow shred the gasget...)
  18. Welcome to the party Indeed, you'll be able to find out plenty when it comes to the maintenance and mechanics of the watches I'm sure you'll get round to project builds soon enough
  19. Sub par my ass That's a fine timepiece, and fantastic photos as always
  20. Very much a work in progress, but I'm very pleased with the dial, and it's still the most comfortable watch in my collection to wear
  21. It might not be the ultimate fix, but maybe fitting a NATO or rubber strap might, if not fix the problem, maybe provide an alternative solution?
  22. Sorry to hear your purchasing experiences haven't gone well, that's bound to be disappointing and frustrating, but don't give up on the forum, I'm sure there'll be advice and help which will enable you to continue to enjoy the hobby
  23. Definitely. Rep or gen aside, I wear the Tudor Sub I built myself, way more than the rep 1655 I bought myself as a birthday present I guess that's what happens when you build something
  24. I just leave mine on a shelf... :bangin:
