  1. An amazing watch, and what a history it has Welcome to the Tudor Club
  2. That's one heck of an order Looking forward to the reviews
  3. I love the vintaging of the hands and indices, am I right in thinking that you did it with a wax crayon? I wish I could be of help with the hand/crystal, but my method tends to rely on cannibalization... I've found the crystal on that model to get loose over time, so I epoxied mine into place Best of luck sourcing your parts
  4. Franken... Gen... Not important... It looks The Business, and that's all that counts
  5. Definitely the Oyster Quartz model
  6. I have go admit, I thought the DSSD had a flat crystal, but I stand corrected
  7. The DJ has a super-smooth sweep
  8. I'm liking the custom Soxa The only thing I would suggest for one of the vacancies, might be a leather-strapped dress watch
  9. I do, and I don't... I agree, the Omega clock does look really nice, but it doesn't have a second hand nor date wheel, so I find the EXP II clock the best balance of function and appearance (it also stands out better against my desktop, where the SMP blended in a bit ) It's nice to see the perfectly smooth sweep of the DJ though
  10. I would not have thought that the flat crystal of a DSSD would create the same distortion as a curved crystal, the only thing I can think, is that perhaps any differing chemical compositions of the crystals might result in different optical effects
  11. I've never heard it described as the loupe... Curved crystals, such as on the Seamaster, or Panerai 127 will distort the dial at certain angles, but it is not really a magnification effect as such... The GMT II C does have AR coating, but the coating is only on the back of the crystal in the area immediately underneath the cyclops. The DSSD doesn't have a cyclops at all...
  12. You could say that My interest in watches has always focussed primarily on diver's watches Not that I'm going to wind up with that collection of 20 near identical Subs That guy was a bit The far right is by Arbutus, and has a 24 hour subdial at 12, and a power reserve at 6. It was a wedding present from my bro Nikki6 Here's a better photo of it It originally came on an SS bracelet, but I fitted the strap to give it the dress look I was after It was a really short notice thing, and 6 really pulled my balls out of the fire with it
  13. +1 on the avoid wholesaleoutlet. I wouldn't call the guy a scammer, exactly, as he does ship goods (where scammers just take your money and ship nothing) but as mentioned (and previously) the goods he does ship are crap of the highest order, and if you try and point this out, Faisal gets a strop on.
  14. After seeing theomega seamaster blue desk top clock gadget, I decided to see what else there might be, and came across this one, which is based on the Explorer II, this one, which is a pretty good DJ, and this one, which is based on a DayDate, so had to share
  15. That's a fantastic review, thanks for taking the time to put it all together
  16. Awesome Not a watch I'll buy again, so it's nice to have a virtual version of it
  17. It must be a PAM phenomenon. My 029a was the only watch which ever attracted unsolicited comments from the ladies, but the attention was most welcome
  18. Fantastic thread It's not much of a collection at the moment, several are just works in progress, but, it's what I've got Not shown, is a digital watch which is a clone of a Suunto Vector
  19. I wouldn't like to say for sure, I suspect that the no-date Subs available are mostly using movements with the date wheel, and simply using the no-date dial...
  20. NCIS is an American police procedural drama television series revolving around a fictional team of special agents from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service which conducts criminal investigations involving the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. Thanks for the confirmations, I'm glad I wasn't imagining things
  21. I know what you mean there, I would put the classic all gold DayDate Presidential as another such watch
  22. Just a quick bump to say I've added considerably to the list
