  1. It's things like that which irk me a little with dealers (in general, not just in this instance) I mean, why advertise Product X for Y amount on Site A, but then advertise it for Z amount on Site B? Not scamming exactly, but there's something about it which irks me
  2. To be honest, I've never asked
  3. I had many excellent transactions with WatchEden when they traded on CQout as TonyXKF. I have not been in the financial position to order since the 're-branding' as WatchEden, but the emails I have traded with Sarah have been every bit as professional and friendly as the emails I traded with Tony, and I would still highly recommend them
  4. Very interesting reading, thanks for taking the time to make it possible
  5. I have to admit, I am still sorely tempted to put in a request for one (although I think it might be over budget, as I've already had a few things) this is definitely one of those 'reverse psychology moments'. What I might do, is just order one in secret, never tell anyone, never post it as a wrist shot, just keep it as a personal indulgence
  6. The one thing I would really like in my collection, is a blatantly 'fake' Rolex. My wife's treating me to a watch for christmas, so I'm weighing my options as to what I want. I don't want something new to wear on a day to day basis, as I'm happy with my Tudor Sub, but something for occasional wear is what I have in mind, and while I was considering a new GMT as a holiday watch, there's something about the display dial which I like Thanks for the link I think the price might be a bit more than she had in mind, but now I know they're available, I might treat myself to one at some point
  7. Out of curiosity, might you be able to source on of these, and if so, how much might it cost?
  8. As far as I know, you're quite right, but it was funny to see the way the guy was acting wearing it Of course, to give him the benefit of the doubt, he might have been given it and told it was the real thing
  9. Some of those are actually pretty nice This is a nice break from the norm (most modern Daytonas bore me to tears) White dials are classy And this one, I've actually seen in the wild The dude wearing it was acting like he was a Saudi Prince, but hey... Where're you finding all these watches?
  10. I can't really point you in the direction of any particular watch smiths, but I would suggest trying independent watchsmiths/jewelers
  11. Bro, you're 100% spot on there. From what I've seen, GM has been entirely unreasonable about things. If you're of a mind to give the Yuki bracelet away, I know someone who would more than appreciate it. I was going to be sending them a vintage riveted bracelet (when I can order one) for their vintage Newman, but if you want to pass on the Yuki bracelet rather than selling it, I can't think of a more deserving recipient at the moment If you want, I can PM you their details
  12. I have a pair of Juliets which I had since the first X-Men film was released, and are still in pretty good condition, although they could do with tightening, and a new set of lenses as there's a few scratches on these... Most of the time, I wear anything which will wrap around, which I can get cheaply as I don't have the cash to get the Juliets tidied up. They've definitely been my best value for money out of sunglasses. A pair of RayBan Predators I had fell apart in less than six months
  13. I quite like the LEDtimer I wouldn't have any trouble telling what the time was in the dark
  14. The usual for me Unusually, the watch was actually subjected to working conditions Several hours filing smooth filler on walls covered it in a fine white sheen. Rolex was originally marketed as being dust-proof, weren't they? Well, this one lived up to the namesake, and after a rinse under cold water, was nice and clean, and no dust or water ( ) entry into the case On another note, I'm pissed off that I'm two days (and tomorrow will be three) behind schedule, as I'm having to re-do the (very simple) work my father in law did a really half-assed job of I don't mind working, but I don't like having to re-do other's work, especially when they make a big deal about being right and knowing best all the time... Oh well, time for I think
  15. Something to bear in mind, is that not all gens have AR, and, on older watches, the lume fades with time, so even a gen can have a weak glow
  16. I can never seem to find an order form on the site, is it best to send an enquiry through the request form?
  17. Yeah, if I recall, it was said that "Everyone always wants to be Mr. Black..."
  18. Thanks, I always rather liked Mr. Pink's rationale regards tips
  19. It looks like you've defined the criteria for the 'tip-worthy' as being the tangible services As above, not being a driver, I didn't know if it was common for people to tip an independant mechanic. I would agree that one would not tip a doctor, just as one would likely not tip an attourney. I guess the defining criteria is not the level of skill or professionalism involved, but the nature or type of service being carried out
  20. I absolutely love it :tu: Don't worry about the imperfections in the dial print, they just add to the vintage look Did you do the dial layout yourself? I downloaded a 30 day autoCAD demo and have been working on a dial design all afternoon and evening It was awesome to see how you modified the movement, and the finished article is fantastic
  21. An interesting question... To quote Mr.Pink: (my own situation) "I used to work minimum-wage: and when I did, I didn't have a job society deemed tip-worthy..." People often tip their barbers, it's not uncommon for people to tip their tattoo artists. Not driving, I can't really answer this point, but I'll throw it into the mix as well: If someone was to take their car to a privately owned mechanic, would they tip them for their work? I would argue that barbers and tattoo artists are skilled professionals providing a service, often at a considerable price, but it is not unusual for them to be tipped...
  22. Interesting article, thanks for sharing It'd be interesting to know precisely what groups were being used for the data, or if it was just wives' 'handbag parties'.
  23. I spy with my little eye, my favorite UK banknote
