  1. Very Tasty I think the dial print 'Date', is nicer than 'DateJust'. I know that there is the DayDate, but I feel that 'DateJust' sounds like it is apologizing for only having the date function, and not the additional day function, so 'Date' just covers exactly what it is and what it has That's a fine pair of watches, wear them in good health
  2. Very nice, bro I'd've been quite happy with the white dial, but the black dial looks sharp
  3. I'll just throw my .2c in, and point out that I have never had any problem with an A21J movement which I did not cause myself I would never buy the Swiss option if I could buy the Asian option, and the only reasons I will be making a few 'Swiss purchases', is because I need the movements to fit specific hands which are not available for the Asian option... Happy New Year
  4. I'll have to have a look and see what I can see I'm not 100% sure of all the facts, but from what I can gather, there were only two of these as 'genuine watches', with all the others being reps, but I love the styling of the case, as it's such a departure from the traditional Submariner, but still clearly recognizable as Rolex/Tudor lineage
  5. This bottle was full two hours ago Happy New Year, amigos :drinks:
  6. That's what I was figuring, it would save any custom entanglements from international shipping, so hopefully keep the PAWs in rotation
  7. I'd say Gen. The case has a load of hairfine scuffs all over it, which to me, appear to be natural rather than 'man-made'... What kind of sicko would want to make a watch look old Joking aside, I would say gen, maybe with a new (aftermarket or otherwise) insert. I'd say it's a watch which has been used during its lifetime, but never abused
  8. Awesome find I have to admit, I was thinking more of a bi-colored insert and larger GMT hand, but either way, nice to know that there's one out there I'd love to have one of those in my collection
  9. :whistling: How cool would this watch look with a GMT hand and 24 hr bezel insert? :whistling:
  10. Interesting indeed The DSSD never really interested me as a watch to own, but it's been fascinating to follow the variances in the updated versions
  11. I'd vote for the Graham, it's on a strap, and unknown enough to fly under the radar. Something I wondered about when discussing a PAW a while back, was to have several regional PAWs which would each stay on its primary continent to avoid customs issues, and only 'swap continents' if a member was to travel abroad and then make a swap for the local PAW...
  12. Absolutely, good times indeed The project is still going ahead, although I've made a few mental tweaks to the plan to compensate for parts mis-matching, and also unified the design from a jumble of vintage and modern parts, to 100% modern. I might well build a 100% vintage version as well, in time, but I really want to get the modern one out of the way first, it's been in planning for over a year now
  13. Thanks for the link I'm sure I'll be able to make something out of one, or just keep it as a real beat up and forget about watch My tip for practicing luming, is to lume the letters of magazine covers and flyers
  14. That's an awesome job, it's looking really good Once you've done one dial, it just gets easier and easier. Well, not exactly easier, but once you know what you're doing, it gets a little less nerve-wracking PS Do you still have a link for the seller? For $8 I wouldn't say no to one of those
  15. Alligoat beat me to the punch Both fine watches, just pretty much a matter of the fine detail between them If I wasn't wearing a 79190 Tudor, I would probably be wearing a 1680, but that's just me
  16. Awesome result I was just looking at the straps, and there're some really nice ones there Shame they don't have any in 20mm
  17. Vintage is definitely an appreciation which creeps up on you I guess it depends what era you're considering 'vintage'... Personally, I love the watches of the 1970s, so the 1680 is one of my firm favorites, but, for true Rolex vintage, the no crown-guard Submariners (I forget the model numbers) are also fantastic. The cases are slimmer and curved on the side, so none of the hard edges to the case of the cases from the 70s and onwards... I guess it's all just a matter of personal taste I really wanted a 3-6-9 dial, but since I got one, it hasn't spoken to me as much as I had thought it might. That's not to say I don't like the 3-6-9 dial, I just don't like it as much as I thought I would
  18. I wouldn't consider myself 'old', but I agree entirely. Tits, ass, they're just like balloons: Once you've seen one, you've seen them all The mystery keeps things interesting
  19. That's looking tasty, I can't wait to see how it turns out
  20. On budget reps, the GMT bezel is not bi-directional, so it would still be safe That's certainly the plan I'm going for with my 'long-term project'
  21. If you read between the lines, he's still effectively getting canned. They're 'scaling back' his use until he decides to return to the center stage (assuming he ever does) Of course, it could be that if/when he returns to the limelight, they will increase his exposure accordingly, or, as might also be the case, by that time, there may be a new 'flavor of the month' to help promote their goods
  22. That's fantastic, thanks for checking I was comparing some rep dials earlier, and on the Maxi Dial, it appeared as if the baton markers were slightly larger, but that's good to know that they're the same size Thanks again, it's much appreciated
  23. I wouldn't like to say which would be more suitable I take it you plan on welding it into the lugs to get the fixed bars?
