  1. If pulling the crown to the handset position isn't actually hacking the movement or adjusting the minute/hour hands, then I'd think that there's a problem with the keyless works...
  2. I haven't tried the chrono variant of the Planet Oceans, but I'd definitely say that the Aquaracer sits further from the wrist than a regular Planet Ocean. For me, that was just a watch which I simply wouldn't wear at all, so I just appreciate the photos
  3. Cost wasn't even an issue with this one, I simply didn't like how high the thickness of the caseback set the front of the watch from the wrist when I tried it on. The link positioning, I would liken to wearing a Sub with the bracelet 'inside out'... Awesome in the photos, just not for me when I tried it on It's very possible, as long as you can track down a dial Might be worth going with a no-date variant to avoid alignment issues with the datewheel, but I'd definitely recommend it as a project As long as you're happy de-casing a movement, and removing and replacing the hands, it's probably a 15 minute (if that) procedure The result, a watch which looks every bit as nice as a Submariner (and is still branded as a Submariner), but, as it lacks the R-Word on the dial, it flys completely under the radar
  4. Swap out the dial for a Tudor dial, and you get total anonymity in public
  5. For me, it would be the Tag Aquaracer. I love how it looks in photos, but when I tried one on, I didn't like it at all
  6. If it's anything like his 'extra for waterproofing', I'd steer well clear...
  7. I quite agree, Tag especially I just couldn't resist the chance to relive that movie moment
  8. This is the only one I have at the moment (and even that is disected ) but fear not, plans are afoot
  9. I can't advise on prices, but if you really want a custom piece, I say go for it My view on watches matches the Burger King motto
  10. If you're dealing with people who 'know watches', and you don't want to be noticed, then keep it simple, ie Rolex DateJust, Omega Aqua Terra etc. Don't wear something which will stand out
  11. That doesn't need to be on the list, bro "Rolex?" "OhMeeGuh." "Beautiful..."
  12. I'm sick of hearing this "don't get reps wet!" myth. I've had one rep fog up under an immersion test (104) and the replacement was quite happy going underwater The only time I actively keep a watch out of the water, is if a ) it is on a fabric or leather strap or b ) I know that the rear o-ring is not in place, having removed it for another watch Can watches flood? Of course they can. Do the majority? I would say 'no'. People can get unlucky, but I do believe that it is simply a case of bad luck rather than a flaw inherent to reps... Who remembers the photo Pugwash posted of a fogged up Seiko? So much for 'gen waterproofing'
  13. That's a fine watch, an excellent build indeed Wear it well
  14. Ahh, I was curious as I believe I've seen a post before where someone used shoe polish to achieve the look
  15. The GMT now looks like this... Such is life
  16. No problem, amigo A lot of the watches on the site have the look of the Russian dive watches with the 'grill' over the crystal, and U-Boat style dials and crowns Not entirely to my taste for wearing, but an aesthetic I seriously appreciate
  17. I feel the same, and am not a fan of the square B&R watches myself, but there was something about the artificial horizon which I liked the look of
  18. It's funny you should say about the half lumed dial, as I really like that Different strokes for different folks, I guess [Edit to add] I forgot to say, I think the PVD watch would look the business on a B&R velcro strap
  19. I came across an ad to the site on Myfacebookpartyspacesite, really liked the look of this watch, and thought I'd share
  20. How did you get that 'melted Cadburys' effect for the dial? This was the effect I achieved with mine by baking the dial for about 30 seconds
  21. The profile shots of this MilSub would seem to be the crystal you require
  22. I would acknowledge that they are not of the quality CWP produces, but in terms of salvage, they are still parts which could certainly be re-used somehow for something. At the end of the day, hands are hands, an insert is an insert, and those parts, could easily be useable in a project of some kind, even if just as 'temporary parts' for future upgrade
