  1. Being the tightwad I am, I don't really want to spend big bucks on this, as it's just for a fun little project I'm dreaming up (No need to get worried, this one will be as close to 'factory stock' as possible ) but I think it'll be the icing on the cake. Any recommendations for sources in terms of price/quality? Thanks in advance, amigos :drinks:
  2. That and the CGs would be my only bugbears as well. As you say though, a spot of weld on the CGs and a T19, and you'll be good to go As for not being a big dome fan, they do grow on you
  3. Very nice, I'm especially liking the bead-blasted finish
  4. Sorry I missed it till now, but that's a really nice build
  5. Love it, awesome list I've never felt the need to shove a watch up my ass to get it through customs, but I have often wondered "Are they going to say anything...?" when I put it in the plastic tray to walk through the metal detector Also made me think of the display of rep goods at Narita, which included a pretty shocking Sub, but some very nice bags What I was wearing and carrying got no attention whatsoever
  6. Thanks for posting the link The 6200 is definitely my favorite of the vintage subs, that 3-6-9 dial is what does it
  7. Wow. That's just a bit Wish I could sell a cardboard box for $90
  8. Looking good, that dial certainly does grow on you
  9. Oh man, I was thinking about making J an offer on this myself, but in the end, I didn't I guess I'll just have to try and track one down online, but, if you do get sick of it any time soon, do let me know
  10. Love it I was just thinking which would attract less negative attention on a student's wrist, and vintage is certainly one way of flying beneath the radar
  11. Hmmmm... Not sure what's going on with that one... One of my favorite watch dials though
  12. I tried on a gen SOSF, wasn't at all impressed, so never bought the rep (which I do now somewhat regret). I guess what I'm saying, is as you have one of these, I would hang on to it, as it's now a rare watch (in the rep world) and as above, a shiny DSSD might will look out of place on a 'broke student'. If you really want to go with an 'R Word' watch, stick to the more vintage pieces, as they'll attract much less negative attention than the modern pieces At the end of the day, it's your watch, so wear what you're happy and comfortable with, but I wouldn't get a DSSD just for the sake of having one, and certainly not at the expense of the SOSF
  13. Now that, is a good reason to keep the spelling
  14. Not a lot's been heard about her for a while, hopefully she's getting herself together There're some depths to which even I wouldn't stoop To be fair, I did emphasise 'a bit' like Nina, not a 'sounds just like'... I like Amy's voice, it's just a shame her life's such a trainwreck
  15. Amy Winehouse, a British singer/crackwhore. (Sounds a bit like Nina Simone)
  16. Awesome The one with the three dudes and the courgettes, I suspect is from www.419eater.com, a website devoted to scamming scammers
  17. A truly awesome watch, enjoy
  18. I must admit, I always read/thought it as 'Ply-fender', but in my defence, I went for years thinking 'Hermione' was pronounced 'Her-Me-Own'
  19. I used to play the keyboard, but haven't done so in over a decade

    Homeplate

I guess it's just a case of 'finding the fun', as for me, it's the same as drawing/tattooing/other building projects which involve focussed work They're never exactly a laugh a minute, but there's a definite satisfaction which makes the process worthwhile Thanks for the photo, it'll definitely help I'm thinking that if I can ever get hold of one of the Quartz Heritage chronos, I could remove the existing metal-outlined baseplates, cut some new baseplates from white sticky-back vinyl, stick them in place, lume them, then use some matte varnish spray to 'pull it all together' It certainly wouldn't be perfect, but I think it might work

    Homeplate

Out of curiosity, does anyone know the dimensions of the homeplates? ie width at the base, width below the triangle (they appear to taper in slightly) and length from base to tip? :thumbsupsmileyanim: Reluming is fun Very nice work indeed
