Yeah, because the pictures I am seeing on the bay or trf aren't flattering. So bassically go gen if money permits. Like I said I have no experience with rep crown/tubs since my watches all have gen peices. Maybe I am taking that for granted, lol. I know I've read in a few threads that the 18k gen crowns tend to be much better in overall look and feel to their rep counterparts. Now would you say a used gen crown/tube combo vs new crown/new aftermarket tube (clark/WSO)? Both are priced within 10% of each other.
-
Just a vague question. Is there a ton of added value when upgrading to gen crowns? My two TC subs and BK YM all have gen crowns but I wonder sometimes if its worth the added cost. How about those 18k gold crowns, rep vs gen? Anyone with some insight and comparisons?

Pictures can be deceiving, that 34mm looks much bigger. Wear it in good health!

16520 Zenith Daytona..if you looking to build
ceocorona replied to concepta's topic in The Rolex Area
I enjoy all Franken and superfranken builds... But I really appreciate when people build these rare models. Fantastic build! Thanks for posting pictures and the build links. Good stuff! -
Any one have any experience fitting a gen dial, 20mm bracelet, or 703 crown/tube on a BP GMT IIc?
-
thats some serious wrist presence!
-
Yeah I also have one being built. Of course it's already "sold" with a new owner anxiously waiting, lol.

I keep reading about the trials and tribulations of building watches. I'm in the final stages of sourcing all my parts to build a Franken TT GMT IIc. I can only hope it goes without a hitch, lol. The Pepsi insert is really growing on my. Nice build and good build read. Wear it well!

Down but not out, lol. Time to update the website favorite with the new address.

Tis is true. I spoke to them little over a month ago and was told there was limited stock left. Worth a try if you can't wait till the end of the year. GL

I have never been of fan of the Hublot until these photos. Very nice

Looks like a small collection to me.. Everyone knows big collections start at 13. Haha. Nice set of watches

Great collection. I have a feeling you have a soft spot for vintaqge rolex's? Ha, I'll eventually have to build me one.

If the scratches are deep enough you may need to look into some extra fine sand paper; 800, 1000, 3000 grit. There are a few "how-to's" on this process. I'd check that section of the forums.

This is the GMT IIc that Sead and Andrew sell. I just purchased an "Ultimate" to build a franken out of. The BP sub from my understanding has the replicated gen bezel assembly therefore it can be modded with a gen bezel assembly. I believe Sneed12 has a few threads on the first GMT franken with gen assembly and insert. EDIT (link added): http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/157619-gen-bezel-and-crystal-gmt-iic/

I ordered what I believe to be a "Ultimate" BP TT GMT IIc 116713LN. Assuming the description and TD are correct this model has a replicated gen bezel assembly. If this is the case I'll start a new thread to document the Franken Build. More to follow.

GMT IIC Ceramic bezel/insert swap? More photos!
ceocorona replied to panerai153's topic in The Rolex Area
But as I understand you do have a gen bezel and insert installed on your BP GMT IIc case correct? I think I saw it in a thread Sneed started about this build? I could be wrong. -
See I thought I did not like the TT just based on pictures. But in the last couple of months my boss has purchased two TT subs. One blue and a black GMT... I'm sold. Lol. I need one but not just anyone. It needs to stand its own. He's not the type to take if off your wrist but the wrist presence is crucial. I did get a response back from a TD and they did not recommend I use their 1:1 rep for an expensive Franken build. While that's disappointing to hear I appreciate the honest. Kudos to the TDs on these boards.

Wow... This is THE build. Super impressed with how much work went into this gem. So I can further clarify. The BP GMT IIc version is the sub that with some TLC can take a gen bezel and insert? The BP has the assembly in place to pop in a gen bezel? If this is the case I just need to buy a BP then.......

GMT IIC Ceramic bezel/insert swap? More photos!

Bringing this back from the past, lol. Any updates surrounding the topics discussed here? -
That was my original plan. Franken 16613 Sub (black) and those pictures you just posted are a huge tease haha. When I calculated what a franken TT Sub build would cost and how close it would come to a gen (used) TT I turned my attention to the gmt. If the build was going to be as expensive might as well rep the more costly gen watch. Lol I just re-read your threads on RWI comparing the Noobfactory and MBK TTs. I find the more you read the less you actually know. Haha. And it just came to my attention that the gen GMT IIc use a ball bearing system for the bezel assembly. I have no idea and highly doubt that any rep uses such a sophisticated bezel assembly. Again I could be wrong. I'd love to document the entire build process of putting together a nice franken GMT IIc. I know Wiseguy1481 is working on a super TT 16608 franken. I just need a perfect base.... That's not asking a lot? Lol Ps. I did not realize the BK/WM9 came in black. That watch in your personal collection? If so congrats. That's a true gem.

Haha a Paris Hilton perhaps? I just sat next to a gentlemen on the plane who had a SS Daytona. We had some great watch conversation. Even the good ol' SS Daytona is a pretty blingy (without being in your face) watch. Can't imagine how rose gold would handle in person. My franken TC LV watch was also "inspected" and received many compliments. Lol true compliment to TC and the quality of his work.
-
Yeah... I saw that on your review and the other review you linked. That's a major bummer. The WHS does not bother me as much as the rehaut engravings would. My other option is to build a TT Sub using a TC Sub as the base watch. I just know that there are fitment issues when trying to attach gen spec bracelets, I could be wrong. Then the rep price to gen ratio is much lower on the latter build. I actually just sent him a PM inquiring about the build, opinions, etc. I am under the impression he has built a few of these GMTIIc. How do you like the overall build compared to a gen? I agree is there a thread discussing this build? Maybe I've read through it already and forgot lol

Looking to have a gen insert, bezel, crystal and WSO 18k TT bracelet. Thoughts?
-
I had plans to swap a gen insert, bezel assembly, and AR crystal. I also saw WSO on the bay has a solid midlink 18k bracelet that fits gen case. Hence my hunt for a 1:1 GMT IIc case And your article is actually what encouraged me to research a Franken GMT IIc. I originally was going to build a franken TT Sub but the costs add up close to a gen. Lol.
