  1. I use rubber gloves, (surgical gloves) 99% of the time and it works perfect. AND, they leave no scratches. tape is less effective, it works, but it leaves sticky glue on your watch. Surgical gloves. GET SOME.
  2. Laz, manuel is one of the good guys. manuel, i have no pm from you.
  3. manuel, I used the same retaining ring that was on that watch. I just added a gasket under the crystal and some glue under the retaining ring. I have a 1680 I bought from Luckyyy, that I put a gen crystal on myself and it was a [censored]. Something needs to be trimmed down either the inside of the retaining ring or the outside of the crystal, because its very hard to do without.
  4. I had the same experience. Nothing. No email reply and no date wheels.
  5. Thank you Pug. Very nice. Good of you to use your time to do this for us. I have saved this for a later date.
  6. Somewhere on here or TRC there are tips for installing crystals. I say this because every mod I have ever done I owe many thanks to the people here that take time to share the tips they have learned. I am moving along nicely on their coat tails. I used glue and the gasket under the crystal, loc tight blue on the crown tube, and gaslet lube on all the rubber. I filled the sink with water and emerged the case. I moved it around and looked for bubbles, so far so good. I shook it and so far so good. So............... I took it deap sea fishing and a quick dive to cool off, so far so good. I took it to the pool for a swim, so far so good. I took it to the beach, played for 5 days with the wife and kids, NO Problems. I know this was not the RIGHT way to do it, but it is my watch and was my risk alone. I was willing to take it and i am glad I did. I can see me taking my dive watch just to splash around in a pool. I need to buy a camera so i can share with you guys. Thats my next purchase when $$ allows. I have never taken too many photos, so I am sure I have a LOT to learn, but its time to give back to those who helped me build a watch that I am in love with.
  7. Manuel, ha ha, I think I have that watch now and just spent a week at the beach with it. It's' been in the pool and the Atlantic ocean. I did not take it to any depth maybe 6' - 8' but no problems AT ALL. I love this watch !!! The guy that sold it to me was not too bad either. I believe the problem you had was that there was no gasket or glue under the crystal. Either add the crystal gasket or put some glue under it. (or both) Lube all the gaskets, put some loc tight blue on the crown tube and swim away. I have tried to mail you for some time now, but your in box was full. Nice to see you have VIP now. Take care my friend.
  8. Rolex Explorer - simple and beautiful. She will love it, and will never get called out. Hell I love it, but it looks like a womans watch after wearing Panerai and some of the other 43mm + sizes.
  9. I take a razor blade and scrape the paint off the old wheel then glue the new one to the bare metal on the old one. the first time i did this i glued it right to the old wheel and had the same troubles. after I removed the paint it worked perfect.
  10. 1.3mm screw driver. my keyless works are now safe.
  11. Thats funny. Wouldnt Rolex give them a free watch if they needed one? Its an advertisment for sure. Why use that POS? Oh , because no ticks - its authentic. Who trys to impress strippers?
  12. thanks guys. I had those hands bookmarked, but was not sure as i have only seen these alone (not installed) thanks again you for your replies. I trust both of your opinions. Broaching would be best, but could be risky with expensive genuine hands. I think I will take your advice and purchase the hands from Clark. Thay seem to be a step in the right direction. Lance
  13. Hey guys. Can anyone in the know point me to a source for decent set of hands for my 1680's. The MBW hands are just too small and look out of place. Both watches have eta 28xx 90/150/25. Maybe Tudor hands? But where? Broaching genuine hands seems a possibility , but I know nothing about this. Its hard for me to judge hands by just looking at pictures of hands only. Does anyone have Tudor hands or aftermarket hands installed on a MBW? If so please post some pictures. I want to have my dials lumed, and would like to send hands with them at the same time. Thanks in advance.
  14. very nice. respect. These frankens keep getting better and better. Keep up the good work.
  15. Excellent pictures ! Excellent watches ! Thank you for sharing. I need burn the easy share and buy something worth having.
  16. as the others said, very nice, the best I have seen. You would not ever be called out on that one me thinks.
  17. I cut small pieces off of the sheet and put the big piece back in to the bag then inside a ziplock. squeeze the air out of it, an it will last you a long time.
  18. I goofed my keyless works up and used Bazz pictures to fix it. Thank you by the way, Bazz. At the time I was heart broken that I had just broke my watch. No worries now. It was not very difficult and I had zero experience, so Bazz pictures and instructions must be pretty easy to follow. In fact I thought I was reading it again. So thanks to you both. If you feel comfortable removing the dial and hands, Go for it.
  19. I agree. The square has not grown on me.
  20. I have a swiss 118 and it's well over a year old. I cant get it off my wife's wrist. I love this watch and may just have to get one that I can wear. Yours looks WAY better than mine tho. Very nice.
  21. Very impressive watch you have there. I love that it glows. What did you use? This is your best one yet. Thank you for sharing. Is it just me, or has everyone turn things up a notch lately?
  22. I am going to say genuine. this one is nice, even tho the crown guards do look slightly off, they still have some things i dont usually see in modified rep guards. Like how the guards fit behind the bezel except on the corners. that date wheel, is not a watchmeister. i have one of those and it looks fuzzy. this one looks nice and clean. too many things look right for it to be wrong. i am most likely very wrong. That dial should be mine, give it to me. nice watch. wear it well.
