  1. IMO the bigger issue with the Noob 4130 watches is the case shape. The lugs' tear drop profile is not as pronounced as it should be. For some reason, without how anal folks in our hobby are, few people talk about this. I've had mine for two months now and absolutely love it. It keeps +-0 seconds over the course of a week. I was thinking about making a franken with mine, but have decided I am very content with it as-is.
  2. PayPal does not allow folks to carry out financial transactions relating to replica watches. A report can lead to frozen funds or worse. Forums like RWG and RWI exist, in part, to function as a mediation ground between buyer and seller in the event of a dispute so that PayPal doesn't have to get involved and no one loses money unreasonably. Going straight to PP with complaints is very noobish and can get lots of folks in hot water
  3. Your best bet is probably measuring the diameter of the hole and then ordering steel rod of that diameter online. Then, cut it to size & install yourself. Or, one of the modders here could do it. or, source a new bracelet entirely
  4. That sounds like it might be more of a problem with the dial having too small of a diameter on the dial feet...
  5. Nice job! What case & movt are you using for your 1675? It's disappointing that there aren't very many options for nice 4 digit builds out there. You really gotta reshape cases most of the time, even with some of the more expensive ones.
  6. The insert looks like it's made of aluminum. Is that the case?
  7. I do think it'll be a good while before we get another Noob refresh though, and they'd have to work on the case shape pretty significantly for it to look any good. If ARF goes for the clone movement and they take some thickness off the case, then it'll look good. But I'm not so sure about Noob sharing their movement with ARF; wasn't the SH3135 developed in response to the fact that the manufacturer couldn't get access to the SA3135? These points^ don't make you any less correct about Phong's quality being pretty hit or miss for the 1.5k that he charges. I'm going to see if I can find any cases of similar quality from another Vietnam source. If anyone has any leads I'd appreciate them, otherwise if I find anything myself I'll report back
  8. Thanks for all the info everyone! @sacsah1 yes, I'm trying to build exactly one of those. The only difference is that I might send my case out to get the lug tops brushed I'm ok with the dial not matching the case as I'll be making a fantasy build, as you pointed out. I'll also be outfitting the case with an exhibition caseback to give it another hair of personalization. It sounds like the case is good with exception of the SEL fitment, is that correct? Does anyone else make an 116520 case? I've been out of the game for just a bit - does MQ or Ruby have 116520 cases?
  9. No worries. No, the movement is a 1:1 (or very close) clone of the 4130 movement and has correct construction. I believe the balance is the only difference, though others may want to chime in. It was released by Noob a short number of months ago.
  10. I've had the idea of making the following fantasy 116520: - Phong case - Phong bakelite bezel for 116520 - Gen dial - Noob hands - Noob cal 4130 Can anyone comment on the shape of the 116520 case from Phong? The noob case looks like the Daytona and Black Bay had an ugly baby Thanks all!
  11. @JSebWC Is NDT back in business? I seem to remember from a good time ago that NDT was out of the game.
  12. What a nice watch, it'll look good with a nice aftermarket bezel. Post pictures once it's installed!
  13. Ooh, that's a pretty great post, thank you for sharing that. That doesn't seem that bad at all truthfully, it completely changes my opinion of the build. I suppose a vietnam dial is probably the best/most bang-for-buck vintage Daytona dial you can get nowadays; is that correct?
  14. Ooh, truthfully that is a bit of a bummer because I am looking to make a slightly higher end type of watch and I am a little anal about things like subdial position. I think I will save my pennies for a higher end build with a V72 or maybe build a nice 5 digit Daytona. It's a shame a proper 5 digit Daytona rep does not exist. Thank you for the information.
  15. What do you mean? Do you have to modify the dial due to the subdial position?
  16. The 6263 in question: https://puretime05.com/daytona-6263-ss-white-black-dial-black-tachymeter-bezel-on-ss-bracelet-venus-75.html# The goal would be to replace the dial and hands, for starters. Does this watch take gen-spec diameter dials & does it have the same hand dimensions as gen? Some quick searches did not turn up this info but I apologize if I have missed it somewhere. Thank you in advance.
  17. How do these cases compare to Phong cases?
  18. Looks pretty gen to me
  19. It looks like the website says the cases accept 28mm dial. looking at a few ebay listings (search "Rolex Datejust 1601 28mm Black Index Dial for 36mm Non-Quick Set Watch Models") it looks like the diameter on a gen dial is 28mm. If that is correct, then you are fine. What movement are you intending on using? If non-gen (eta 2836, for example), you will have to clip the dial feet and attach the dial using dial dots. Either that or modify the base plate of the movement to accept gen dial feet (this is notably more difficult). It's likely the 2836 will need a movement ring. Knowing raffles, the case probably comes with the movement.
  20. IMO gen crystals are only worth it if: 1) the crystal is plexi (the non-OEM crystal profiles never match OEM perfectly) 2. the crystal has a LEC or AR coating
  21. 14 months prison for $19k. What a stupid idea. In Singapore of all places - notorious for being aggressive on crime, especially with foreigners. They must have rep brains.
  22. That makes sense. I didn't think that the rehaut would really be that messed up. When I uncase this build I'll compare the TC rehaut to the JF rehaut and report back
  23. I'm a little confused then. If the JF takes a gen crystal then the top of the rehaut must be the correct diameter, right? Similarly, if the JF takes a gen dial, then that dial aperture must also be the correct diameter. If I'm right, then the angle of the rehaut can only be varied by differing the distance between the planes of the top of the rehaut and the bottom of the rehaut, no?
  24. Thank you! Here you go, just took this. It lines up very well; the bezel is a little rotated CW, so that is why it is not centered with respect to the dial. With this in mind, it suggests to me that the only way a JF rehaut could be wokky is if it is shallower than gen. That would also suggest that the case construction is not 1:1, as it would require the movement to move further forward in the case, and would alter the crown position. If I have this wrong, I welcome someone to correct me.
