  1. Yep, should've kept it. In 1995 the local used Rolex dealers around here had 5513s for $1500.00 area, that's what I paid for mine. Now what are they, $3500-$4000.00 on average? I wish I had kept mine. I just sold all of my reps but one. Guess which? I'm not abandoning the rep world, just getting away from the Rollies...the 5513 is the only Rolex I like anyway. Btw if anybody needs any project cases or dials I still have a few listed over at Repgeek and I just marked them down!
  2. Be patient when dealing with Silix. Very poor communications but they always come through. Nice reps and good prices.
  3. I'd say take the insert off, clean it and re-adhere it with something that holds better. You can see how good mine stayed on.
  4. Hide the credit cards!!!! Hey just noticed....post number 500!
  5. The Geek is back up I've got alot of rep parts for sale there....Daddy needs a new SFSO!!
  6. Now that you mention it, I think the only watch I ever owned that people complimented on a regular basis was a Chase Durer Abyss. A real bling-bling diver
  7. There is something about the Rolex name and fakes. When ever I see someone with a modern Submariner I instantly assume "rep". I'm sure Omega Planet Oceans will soon fall into that same catagory. Now a vintage Rolex is another story. A decently vintaged plexi Sub might make me think "hmmmm??" That is as long as it doesn't have bright yellow markers!
  8. I already did the UPO thing. I hit that brick on everything when I had it on. It's a cool watch just too big and heavy for daily wear to me. I sold it over at Repgeek and just listed all of my left over Rolex and Tudor stuff there. It will all be gone soon except for my vintage nodate Sub and an Omega GMT. Then I'll have to pick which road to go down next.
  9. Breitlings for sure! Superocean is on the list....black dial of course!
  10. I don't know what made me this way but I am totally burned out on Rolex reps. Maybe is all of the fitment issues that come up when you start moding the vintage Subs. You find a case you like and none of the dials you have fit. Lugholes being drilled too far in. Bad dial fonts. Odd sized crystals and the list goes on. The sad part is there really are no good vintage Sub reps out there other than a few of the MBWs and they have issues. I'm selling off all of my Rolex and Tudor stuff but 1 5513 nodate. I don't know whats next...but I'll probably just go with nicer reps (super reps) that doesn't require a bunch of mods.
  11. Come on, Nati Light is only $3.79 a 6 pack. Heck that's cheaper than a gallon of gas.
  12. Well here it is with the new insert. All silver this time. Chose to switch up a little and get away from that split tone GMT insert that it came with. The silver insert reminds me a little of the America's Cup Omega.
  13. I miss RepGeek. I go there alot but here most of the time. Alot more noobies there so I help when I can.
  14. Yikes! I spelled it wrong. COSTCO! Shows how long it's been since I've been in there! I almost bought my first gen SMP there but found a good deal on eBay. As some of you may remember me saying, I sold it on eBay and ended up buying it back a year later not even knowing it was mine. The seller and I both got a chuckle out of that. I guess I should have kept it but I threw it back on eBay. Now guess what my next rep is going to be? Yep a Bond SMP for old time sake. Thanks to the dropping dollar a rep is all I can afford right now
  15. Thanks By-Tor. I've grown to adore the pointed cgs and I really enjoy moding a case to have them. I remember the first time I read one of your reviews of a Sub that had really crappy cgs, I think you said they were horrendous. Well I have found one good thing about horrendous cgs, if there's enough crappy cg there you can make anything out of them. Thats a plus to those of us who own a Dremel...lol.
  16. I started out with 2 5517s and started moding them. They've kept evolving and now I have 2 5513s from different decades Based on an a 60s 5513 Sub...pointy cgs, vintaged dial and a riveted bracelet no flip lock. With a 70s era based 5513 Now I need a 80s 5513 with marker surrounds....hmmm. Maybe then start on a 14060. Man this never ends!
  17. I guess you guys would never believe that the greasy transmission tech where I work wears a gen Omega Seamaster to work every day. He's had it around 8 years or so. I see him wash it off with spray brake cleaner sometimes. Man it is rough but it is a gen. from Kostco. And I should add that I was with him when he bought it.
  18. I'm selling a few of my reps and I'm eyeing a Bond SMP. I plan on installing my genuine bracelet on it for now and maybe other mods later. I hate to sound like a total noobie but can someone advise me of a good source at the moment. I usually deal with Silix but the cgs look funny to me in their pics. Any help would be appreciated. I've done searches here and it seems the old factory stuff was the best.
  19. This was a good starting point for me but I just can't afford a MBW right now. Finally took a pic cuz I listed for sale on another board. It sells, that's ok. If it don't that's ok too. I've always wanted a Tudor Sub but I guess now's not the time.
  20. Yes it is..times are hard brother! Reps and cheap beer..lmao
  21. Well I had on my beater GMT today and when I got home, it looked a little different. To bad the insert was centered when I got it. If I would have centered it, it would have been adhered better and I wouldn't have lost it. I just ordered a replacement but since I really didn't like the split tone of the original insert, I ordered the all silver one. It may look horrible on the black dialed model (I think that insert was just used on the later white dial GMTs) but I'll give it a shot. BTW...what does the top of that beer can remind you of? It reminds me that I need a Bond Seasmaster Pro!
  22. Pretty boring but these 2 are about all I wear anymore. Just waiting for my new insert for the one on the NATO so I can vintage it. These 2 perform so well I just don't want to wear anything else. I do smell a SMP in my future though when I sell my UPO.
  23. I ended up with one of the 2 Tudor 7928 Submariner dials they had. If I can't find a MBW Submariner case pretty soon I'm gonna sell it.
  24. It's been awhile since I've worn my NATOS so I popped the riveted oyster off of my vintaged 5513 with pointy cgs and threw on the NATOs. Black Olive Skunk (the darker model) Yikes, purple! Yep I like the nodates
