  1. But I guess it will be a starting point for a weird looking franken once I get some markers installed. 27.5mm so it could even fit in a Noob case.
  2. Yeah I've wondered about those also. I figured they are just redialed old Tudors but there is always many listed. I don't think people could get their hands on that many old Tudors. Smells fishy to me
  3. I'm completely happy with the transformation from a 5517 to a 5513. I think it's the way to go if you want to mod a vintage Sub. I have several vintage Sub reps and this is by far the easiest one to mod. It is the only one I have that accepts a Tropic crystal.
  4. Too funny. I have a bunch of gen pics I have saved. Yes, your's is more than Ok!
  5. That's it. Love the watch and love the story. I lost the link I had. I wish someone would post the story here.
  6. At least in my opinion. Here's a few examples: Ok: Cool: Ok: Cool: Ok: Cool: Ok: Cool: (ok that 5513 is a little rough but it is still cool!) You get the idea....just my opinion
  7. TMG has my favorite Tudor, the nodate Sub. It's the 5513 Sub of Tudors. The sad thing is that a few years ago when I didn't care for the Tudors, they were affordable. Now I love them and the prices have skyrocketed. All I have now is a franken rep Tudor. Maybe someday
  8. Terrible news, I'm sure he would have had a terrific career. I really like the movie he was in with Billy Bob Thorton, "Monster's Ball".
  9. One thing I remember from being a kid was looking forward to going shopping at our local TG&Y store. Why? Because Mom would give me a few quarters and the first thing I did was drop them in the NFL football helmet machine. Sometimes it was a new one, sometimes one I already had. Now that I'm all grown up I can buy all the toys I want. I've been looking around awhile and finally found a complete Victor 77 with the NFL helmets. A great addition to my game room.
  10. I still have my first one. An old Bradley Mickey Mouse watch. The 1 jewel movement is still going strong.
  11. They are a little larger than gen but they're not that bad. They actually look larger when you look at the ends of the fixed bars when they are still in the case. When one of mine came out a light bulb lit up over my head. Gen springbars work well. If I can sell my brown dialed Sub I'm going to order another 5517. Here's another side view:
  12. Very nice! I had never seen one of these so I looked them up on eBay.....2 listed around $24,000 each. Yikes!
  13. Thanks. I'm not big on dressy watches. No gold or chronos for me. Just good ole stainless tool watches!
  14. My guess it has no real purpose other than name designation. They call this model "Red Point" or "Red Dot". I've always liked the old Sea Wolfs and I found this NOS dial on the Bay and got it for around $10.00. I think these were quartz but the date and pins aligned up perfect on the ETA.
  15. I ended up changing it up a bit. This is one of those $%&! cases that have the lugholes drilled way too far in like the Silix no cg Subs. They usually arrive with springbars that have been bent terribly to get the band on and they are nearly impossible to get a band back on. I ended up having to grind about 1/8" off of the end of the endlink with a Dremel to get it in far enough to get the band on without bending the springbars. I threw on an old bezel off of a Silix Sub I parted out for a vintage look.
  16. Where the heck did all of my NATOs go?
  17. Well my collection has changed a little after my September post. I starting working on them a little more. I've parted out a few and sold the Sea-Dweller. There are a couple more I may get rid of and a few more I'd like to buy. All and all I'm pretty happy with what I have. They all work well and at this point I don't have to worry about product quality with new watches near as much as I used to. If I get a screwed up watch now, I just fix it. (back to front) Rolex 5513 Submariner with a chocolate dial Omega GMT with gen band Franken Zodiac Red Point Pro in a "not so good" Submariner case and a Timex solid Oyster with a ETA 2836-2 (my beater) Omega UPO Rolex 5513 Submariner that started out as my 5517 (my favorite) Omega GMT on a black NATO Franken Tudor Hydro that also started out as a 5517 (it may get a cyclops and Sub hands soon???) Silix Bond Submariner on a skunk NATO
  18. I guess my only funny story is about my old gen SMP. After it became the "Bond" watch, I had to have one. I was surprised to find that they carried them at Costco and they had thr cheapiest price so I bought one. Eventually I grew tired of it and in early 2002 I listed it on eBay with a buy now of $850.00. It sold and I just couldn't find a watch that I was satisfied with so after about a year, I said screw it and looked on eBay for another Bond SMP. I found one buy in now for $800.00 so I bought it. When it arrived it looked just like my old one..I mean just like it! The insert scratch near the crown. The nick in the bezel at 6. I went into the other room and dug out my eBay paperwork to see who I sold my SMP to. Guess what? I had bought my watch back from the same guy I sold it to. I emailed the guy and he got a chuckle out of it to. He said he just never wore the watch and it sit in his drawer because it felt too big on his wrist.
  19. Of course mine would be my franken Rolex 5513 Submariner rep. As for 5513s, I like this pic (remember the story about the fisherman loosing this one on his boat and finding many years later) Here's mine:
  20. Cgs look like the early pointed style to me. Like the early 60s models with gilt dials.
  21. This one today And I'll probably work in the yard this weekend with this one
  22. Build a beater of course. I hope this doesn't seem off topic but I have quite a few left over "sub-par" Submariner rep parts. So I desided to build a beater. A 2836-2 movement, a junky case (no need to mod the cgs), a NOS Zodiac red dot dial, a decrowned crown, a NATO and misc other parts. The big surprise is that the lume is excellent.
