  1. I had this kind of stuff happen with 3 reps I bought from Andrew....don't worry, he'll offer to sell you a more expensive watch at a bit of a discount. Don't fall for it! Make him straighten this deal out.
  2. I'm debating on selling most of my reps and starting over. My initial goal was to replace the two gens I used to have with reps since money is a little tight with the purchase of a new house and cars for the kids. Unfortunately I ended up with several reps that I'm just not interested in. My gens that I wanted to replace were a 5513 Submariner and a Bond SMP (2531.80). Now I have built a "decent" 5513 that I am happy with but still no Seamaster Pro. I did end up with a couple asian GMTs but I still miss my SMP. I wound up with a gen SMP bracelet and installed it on one of my GMTs but I had to drill new lugholes further inward to fit the gen bracelet to the GMT rep. Does anybody know if a SMP has the lugholes in the correct position for a gen bracelet?
  3. I'm down to this huge Hamilton Khaki XL. I've had it for years and it keeps on ticking. My Dad liked it so I found him one on eBay just like it.
  4. I worked on a Delbana diving watch once that had a movement very similar to this one (it looked identical but I'm not 100%) and I had to release the stem with the screw that is located where the release pin on the ETA movements we are all familiar with. This post has really got me thinking. My current project is a Tudor 7928 Submariner but I don't have a case that will work. I do have everything else I need though. I would love to get my hands on a case like yours but I think it is unlikely. I posted that I needed a MBW 1680 case request in the "wanted" section but I don't think alot of people read that section. Heck I'd even buy this case from your supplier if you have to return it, I ain't picky if the price is right . If anybody has any suggestions to help me out let me know. I hope it all works out for you. Darn shame the 7928 wasn't the quality it should be for the price. A vintage Tudor is a mighty fine piece.
  5. I'd send it back for sure. It would be a different story if we were talking about a $200.00 rep. The rehaut looks very good though, slightly conical as it should be. The dial looks pretty good in the pics and I've seen several different layouts as far as the "SWISS T <25 " or "T SWISS T" goes on gens. so that wouldn't be huge deal to me. The cgs are the main reason I would return it. If it was a $200 rep. (and if the case back would come off) the cgs could be evened up a little and still possibly look decent. I'm having to go about my 7928 the hard way, a refinished dial and a MBW 1680. It should make for a nice watch even though the rehaut will be wrong and the hands may be wrong (most of the 7928s I've seen have different hands, larger hour and second markers on the hands). Bottom line is this is a watch I think we will never see correctly rep'd so we have to take what we can get, but for $550 I wouldn't settle for the quality of that particular watch.
  6. I guess a MBW 1680 will be in my future. I just bought a Tudor 7928 Submariner dial but it is too small for any of the cases I have.
  7. I gave up on my rep SMP bracelets. I sanded and rounded till I thought it looked pretty good, then compaired mine to a gen and saw first hand how bad mine was. I got lucky and found a gen on eBay cheap ($100). Put it on my GMT but it required drilling new lugholes. Now it looks and feels right. If you really like the SMP (and who wouldn't) it's worth trying to find a used gen bracelet. I think I read here that some of the older reps had better bracelets but I'm sure it would be impossible to find one. Rep after rounding and shaping. Still thin and flat Gen bracelet. The gen has alot more curvature. Especailly thru the cross section
  8. Looks darn good to me. Maybe drill out the lugholes and gen springbars next???
  9. In a post like week regarding 5512/5513s, someone mentioned that Silix had an asian powered 5512. I looked and all I saw was the no cg style with a 5512ish dial. One thing I did see is a asian 14060 nodate. It is far from accurate (no lugholes and sel band as usual) but as far as I can tell the dial looks pretty good. It doesn't look like the typical crappy dial in most of the 14060s out now with the bad Oyster Perpetual fonts like the one Trustytime sent me last year that I immediately returned. I have seen another 14060 rep that has hour markers that are too big. They look like LV markers. Just wondering if anybody has one of the asian Silix 14060s? Anybody know of any other "fair" 14060 reps. with a pretty good dial. It sure would be nice to find a good 14060 dial that would fit in a Noob case.
  10. I guess I'll email them sometime and see if they do fit the ETA 2836-2 for sure. If they do, I may get a set of the white ones (they come in white or aged) for my franken Tudor Tiger Sub project. I haven't got very far yet. Ciborgman donated a Sub dial for me to rob the markers off of (thanks). I have a vintage and a modern Sub case that the dial will fit. It may turn out totally stupid looking but I was glad to get this dial so cheap. I like building franken Tudors, most watch guys just look and assume it's a gen....not like the Rolex "is it real" stuff.
  11. The topic has been posted here before. I'd like to have a set for one of Tudor frankens if I knew they would fit a 2836-2 ETA movement. I've bought 3 sets of Sub hands off of eBay and haven't got the right ones yet. I was in a pinch and PerfectClones sent me a set that worked perfectly.
  12. This is my pointy cg nodate the I vintaged the dial on An old Silix Sub
  13. Hold out till you can find a MBW 5512. Most of the nodate 5513s have yellow text on the dial. I like a nodate with white text so I converted my 5517 to a 5513 (remove the T, removed the fixed bars and changed the hands). It's good enough for me but the lugholes are a little larger than they should be but gen springbars work great. I'll bet that Sub pictured above from Trusty is one of the one that has a 27.5mm dial. The 5517 cases accept a 26mm and a T19 fits perfectly.
  14. Pretty funny but I like "I love you more" better!
  15. I'm out on the group buy (low on the $$$) but I sure would like to have a dial
  16. I found out what this dial is today. It is an incomplete Tudor Tiger Sub dial. It never had the markers installed. Now I need 3 triangle markers and 8 round markers. The dial fits my rep Sub case perfectly and I have a real swiss 2836-2 movement ready. This should be interesting.
  17. Ok, no Vodka for me tonight...just beer lol. But did I read that right? Pointy cgs with a 5513 dial that has marker surrounds? Wouldn't that be a franken? You need a nice 60s style dial for that case. I tried to do the same thing but on my broke a$$ budget (I mean the style...just an ETA for me). Pointy cg 5513 with a replacement Tropic 39 (but I like it).
  18. I've had to rob some of the ETA 2836-2s from my frankens. I was wondering, is there a source (site) that offers asian "Noob" movements, hands and plastic movement holder rings? You may gag at this thought, but I really don't wear my frankens that much.....they are just for fun and practice. I'd just like for them to be together but I don't want to go broke doing so.
  19. Yeah it ought to be interesting. I want to put in a modern Sub case but can't picture what color bezel insert would go with white. Maybe start with a Yachtmaster??
  20. I had to do some digging, but this is the one I like. A Tudor Jumbo with a racecar dial. (ever notice racecar spelled backwards still spells racecar? )
