  1. Beauty. PM in bound about... B
  2. Agreed - and two very nice examples!
  3. Thanks, but no. I build all my own watches as a hobby/talking point. Another $1500 for a gen movement and I could buy the real deal from a AD and have all the advantages that a gen would have... B
  4. Hi guys, This is the culmination of over a year's search. Originally this was built with a gold dial, but the gold was too overpowering on an all steel case set. I finally found the perfect dial (for me). It's hard to tell the color because it varies by the lighting. It's kind of a creamy vintage, faded yellow, silvery dial with Gold indices. The gold hands complete the look and it matches my two-tone wedding band perfectly (OCD is an expensive disease). All Gen except the Swiss ETA. B
  5. Nice find. I'm willing to bet it would be just as expensive to have a machinist re-sleeve the thread than to just buy a new used crown. Unless you already have the setup and experience... @jmb B
  6. I actually looked at that one about an hour ago. Thanks! B
  7. Aware. Thanks. Just looking to see if this is worth the upgrade from a Yuki. I'm kind of stalled in my builds/mods and this will be one of the last unless there is a glaring error in the layout of these...
  8. I'm gonna see what they say. Apparently you don't order the same as other vendors. They have to contact you after an inquiry... B
  9. Hi guys, Probably one of my last purchases is an upgrade to my beater 1016. I think Ruby is the best value/quality option, but I really can't tell any obvious differences between 1, 2, and 6? Any help??? http://rubyswatch.com/Products/parts/explorer-i-ii B
  10. I once knew a puffer from east LA...is that the same as a fluffer???
  11. OP - maybe pick a new username and try again after contributing for a few years... B
  12. Hi Guys, Heading out to LA next month for a conference. First and probably only time I'll get to LA. I have a general list of things to check out, but was wondering if there's anything interesting that the locals might recommend? Mostly for sites (photos), and food (I'm a bit of a foodie geek)... In and out burger Pinks hot dogs Walk of fame Fat burger Melrose Ave Beverly hills area Chinatown Hollywood sign Hollywood bowl No suggestions too touristy or lame (as obviously reflected above). Thanks, B
  13. NICE! Thanks J ...aaand purchased! B
  14. I just looked??? Search term? B
  15. Best of luck! B
  16. Hi guys, I recently pared everything down and now have only one sub - a built from scratch 5513. It is supposedly a Cartel case set. I purchased a "Vietnam" bezel form a well-established member here. It supposedly had a gen crystal installed. However, fast forward to now and a broken crystal... I don't have anything that fits in the old tool box, so I ordered a couple of these from WSO: https://www.ebay.com/itm/PLASTIC-PLEXI-WATCH-CRYSTAL-FOR-ROLEX-SUBMARINER-5512-5513/310304848166?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Unfortunately, the crystal fits quite loose on the lip (crystal I.D. too large), and the retaining ring doesn't sit down on the crystal (too tight). Is there THAT MUCH variability across the makers or is this unusual? I don't mind springing for another gen crystal as long as I know it's going to fit. Is there a recommendation that seems to work better than others? Thanks in advance for any help... B
  17. Some ways. Depends on the severity and/or location of the leak... B
  18. If you're interested I can post an almost new ETA 2836 for about the clone price. I really need a 2824... B
  19. Sad to see that done to a JMB case- with all it's unbounded potential and all. But hey...whatever floats ur boat. B
  20. Show off...
  21. I'm sure I know much! LOL. But the whole chunky guards with the paperclip retaining wire is throwing me...? Bi-directional 11610? That little indent doesn't look deep enough for a spring and ball. Can't see a hole for any other click. Just seems "off" somehow...probably just not what I'm used to working with. B
  22. You sure? B
