  1. Ok after the last scalpel passage and the pearl reattachment with a bit of 2 component epoxy glue, I've done. A suggestion to whom is going to do the same mod, not already mentioned in the original post on RWI is to avoid using a pointed scalpel. If the point ends up in the engraving you will probably ruin your work. Much better to use a curved blade like on the surgery one I used. Also always try to proceed with che blade so that it has a 45° angle respect to the engraving shapes (not speacking about the angle respect to the ceramic insert): for exaple it may seem easier to do the [] (0) with the blade 90° to the vertical part of the number -moving it straight/radially from the crystal to the bezel-, BUT you may end up with the whole blade in the horizontal part of the chyper _ and damage the job... Here the final result: Hope you enjoyed
  2. Just give a look here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/331091347329 and then here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/221029101454 40$ vs 528$ Com'on Bergeon... Let me just to show you what I got from eBay after I bought the cheap one. Well I actually got this "Swiss made" tool: Look carefully at the biggest sticker (not about the fact that they are cut: I opened the device to reposition a led) and at the box... Tested this evening on a couple of normal (big enough to work on motorcycle engines) screwdrivers: it works PERFECTLY! Well in the end is a Bergeon Have to say very good value for money!
  3. Ok, so this evening it was scalpel and lacquer time. First I removed carefully, with a couple of little screwdrivers and sharp tweezers, the glue residue in the hole of the pearl, so that I will be able to glue it back properly at the end. Then, after some surgery scalpel job: And here you can already see the color differences of the engravings based on light incidence: And then up the transparent lacquer (here freshly applied). You have to be careful because the thinner of the lacquer tends to dilute also the already dried enamel: Now other 24h to let the lacquer to dry To be continued...
  4. SO I have this nice Noob V3 green Sub-C that I got m2m on the other RWG some time ago. At the beginning it gave me a lot of troubles, because the seller (if I have to believe his words) didn't notice the fact that the date wasn't flipping at all with time (only quick date set was working). Also the dwo was very bad with numbers definitively too much on the left. After the good SSteel gave me for free a well shaped 2836 gold main plate, and after I tried a BP GMT2 dw that I had around which was a lot better than the Noob one, I serviced the movement, replacing the plate and dw, and it started working properly. But still I was annoyed by the off-white color of the ceramic bezel engravings (I am a kind of perfectionist...). Some time ago I read a post over RWG of a guy that followed this guide http://www.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php?p=1118432 on his blue Sub-C with very good results, so I gave it a try The part I was mostly scared about was the pearl removal: if you don't follow the correct procedure there is the risk of bezel crack... Definitively I didn't want to end up in that other trouble... But again, following the instructions of the previous link and using a welder for electronic to heat the pearl all went fine: Then I prepared the 1:4 diluted Testor enamel and this is the result of the first application: Now have to wait 24h to move on with the rest of the procedure. To ne continued...
  5. Lovely with that strap! I am also waiting mine (brushed not pvd)
  6. Hi CJ: not really (I have already seen that site months ago). Mainly I am interested to get how to adjust Asian 7750 without the etachron (if possible at all), to get if the bergeon etachron tool fits the Asian movement where that system it is used (like 2836) and, finally, if there is around a not-crazy-priced bergeon compatible tool or if Bergeon are the only one producing this thing. Thanks for the reply in any case!
  7. Hi All, as I'm quite new to this world, I'm not really aware of the various evolutions of the movements. One of the things I noticed, because I received a partial 7750 from MBK on RWG (thanks again!) to use for spare parts, is that there are different balance co:ks and hairspring studs & regulator systems around. a. Can someone tell me something about them? Second shot of questions: after I've read this: http://www.timekeeperforum.com/forum/threads/adjustment-and-regulation.21105/I discovered the "EtaChron" system and that these things needs adjustments. b. Do the bergeoun etachron tools fit the various eta Movements like the 2836? c. Do they work in the same way? d. And how to handle these regulation with the a7750 that have only the etachron stud (if it has it at all!)? For example this is like the one I received, no etachron at all and different co:k shape: Then there is this (etachron stud, not etachron regulator): And finally the supposedly gen eta (is this a gen? It's on wiki, but those blue screws...) completely etachron. Thanks!!
  8. This thing is a bi_t_ch!!!! I managed to take out of the way the balance and its spring, putting back the hair spring stud holder on the co_k is easy, but the coarse and fine regulator rings are BAD to put back around the jewel holder... REALLY bad, they are!
  9. No problem Alex. Quite often I also have your type of reaction within my real job
  10. Great advice CJ and POTR. As soon as I will have some time and I will not be [censored] tired from office I will give it a try:)
  11. Alex, this is a test movement: partially assembled, got for free from a member of the other RWG. I needed to unassemble the stud and regulator to take out the Inca spring that I need for another (good) 7750 that has a broken lyra spring. No, couldn't just swap balance assembly as the co_k is different and doesn't fit in my other base plate. Now, before going to work on the good one, I want to learn on this test one. Cheers, GenTLe (Alex too, that's my real name)
  12. Hi guys, is there someone so kind to tell me how the heck is possible to put these pieces back together? Thanks!!!!
  13. Taken from the other fora (RWI). Old but still gold I think this sums up the worst customer's habits all togheter
  14. Just to make this lighter with an OT: What guys do you have all with the double/twins letters? Toro = Italian word for "bull" ToRRo doesn't exist at all. Like with my name: Alessandro (similar to English Alexander, isn't it?). My foreign colleagues do mess it up with Allesandro, Allessandro, Alesandro and all sort of [censored] :-D :-D
  15. About the AliExpress watches, you'd better to give a look to this thread : http://www.rwg.bz/board/index.php?/topic/93772-This-is-what-I-ordered.--What-do-you-think-I-will-actually-get?-UPDATE!!! Probably there is better around but still...
  16. That's feasible! For me too! And I believe there's something similar here in Milan too (where I actually work) Need to search a bit
  17. Lovely Ceejay! I'm wondering... You wrote you are doing an horologist course... How old are you and how do you manage to fit it in your day, imagining you've a work too? I'd like to do something like this too, but struggling to get the time!
  18. Uhm, I thought this situation was in IT (or Greece) only... Meantime in Germany...
  19. For 25$ you may do our guinea pig and report back
  20. They are! The Louis Vuitton ones are a bit too big in my view. Also the Rolex ones are on the big side, but still usable. The best (as shape) I think are the Hermes yellow gold, the Cartier SS, the Montblanc SS and the Bulgari rose gold with black enamel. Also very valid as little present: they comes all around 8 - 12US$ free shipped (to Italy at least). My boss that has a gen Montblanc wallet, has been very happy about the SS Montblanc I gave him
  21. Maybe I have a little bit exaggerated... Now I have to buy some cufflinks shirts to use them, because I don't have any Shipped on 16 arrived today. 16 December I mean =:-o Got them from here: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/group/Cufflink/1036374_253465221.html
  22. Thanks Panny ! Nice review and nice watch. Still I think it's a robbery at that price...
