  1. Uh? What's that Kernow? Looking a bit with google, basically it's a chinese rebranded watch... Practically a kind of homage to the PP fantasy one. Naaaa... I dedicated some time to read and found a great post about the history of Venus 175 and Lemania calibers. So I finally I got why the reps are not good: they have Venus 175. The PP and VC and a lot of others have the Lemania 2310, which has the pinions of the subdials placed in a different position. Practically only the Breitling Chronomat, few Maurice Lacroix, Golay Spierer used the Venus. None of them are actually repped. So, currently, the only one to get with such movement is the re-issue of the 1963 Chinese Air Force chronograph reissued in the later mid 200s by Tsinlien Sea-Gull HK (which hat too many colors between dial, hands and indexes, for my taste...)
  2. Of course it can be fixed. Easiest way is exactly to do a good service (so a proper disassemble, clean and oil with the right ones - 2 different oils and 1 grease just for the movement, not considering the main spring barrel which needs another couple of products too - ) and to replace the main spring barrel with a new one (around 10uk£), or eventually open and properly clean and lubricate the original main spring barrel (which is an hassle to do without pretty expensive dedicated tools...).
  3. Me too. And being Free from Apple commercial chains adds so much value for me that I'll never step back from this decision...
  4. 22sec/day after a full service (and only 22h reserve) is not ok for me. 2 weeks ago I serviced, with appropriate oils and cleaning machine, my 1st caliber (an Asian 2836) and, BEFORE putting it on timegrapher machine for fine tuning it was like 19 sec/day and running for 2 full days or more... Sorry i cannot help in finding a good guy there (I'm in Italy...)
  5. What if a meteor lands in the postal area: http://youtu.be/SMnZr5DDRlA (LOL)
  6. Hands UP for Angus, if he'll commit. And sorry to made you point to Ofrei or Cousins: for whatever reason I thounght you was speaking about an Omega...
  7. FANTASTIC post! Finally I got why I couldn't get a rep PP or VC with correct dial: the reps all have Venus 175. The gen PP and VC and a lot of others have the Lemania 2310, which has the pinions of the subdials placed in a different position. Practically only the Breitling Chronomat, few Maurice Lacroix, Golay Spierer used the 175. None of them are actually repped. So, currently, the only one to get with such movement is the re-issue of the 1963 Chinese Air Force chronograph reissued in the later mid 200s by Tsinlien Sea-Gull HK: (not exactly my taste with all those colors between dial and hands and indexes)
  8. Hi Gents, I lost a lot of time looking around for a "super rep" of an old PP or VC, chrono with the well known and reliable Venus asian clone. I'm not getting anything out of this research because it's pretty hard to compare the reps and the gen because the gen are really old (PP gens like the model 130 or are from 1930-50 for example)... So asking for your experience: is there any super rep of watches like them (not limiting the choice to PP or VC, I just like the style of them)? I.e. this one is wonderful, but really can't get if it's fantasy or not:
  9. Uhm... Carl, not to defend Ken, but the first 2 entries in the TD list (Bergies and Bergies acc.) are his ones. So he IS a TD here.
  10. Noooo, I'm not referring to a gen strap. 300$ for it is pure craziness. Custom made straps are around 100$ and good ones, not custom made, are 40 -> 80$. Give a look to Panatime site. I'm getting a real java rock piton strap for ~40$ from them
  11. There are 2 things to check: 1st that the 4th wheel pinion is ok and not snapped 2nd if the gen second hand has a similar size. If the hand is fine had the snapped part is the 4th gear pinion, then you may make it to be serviced having the gear (if ETA or clone) or the whole movement (if it's a cheap one) replaced and MAYBE the horologist can reuse the hand. If the snapped part is the hand you may buy a gen one (ofrei or cousinsuk) and, if the size of it's tube is similar, have it adapted to your movement. Or even combine the 2 things...
  12. Maybe you can swap it for a series 9 Miyota. It has to be checked.
  13. It's a clone. Gen ones don't use fancy coloured gayish pipes and mixed stckets. Moreover gen techs don't go around these objects with red shorts
  14. If I was you now I'd put the gen on a side in case you want to sell the watch in the future, and get a good crocodile aftermarket to wear it everyday... If you can find one with that strange lug system...
  15. Just to let you know http://www.pure-time.com/product/pam382-n-bronzo-zf-11-best-edition-on-brown-distressed-calfskin-strap-p9000-v2a/ http://www.torobravos2014.com/index.php?route=product/product&keyword=382&category_id=0&product_id=1154
  16. Automatico, give a look to the movie "The Motorcycle Diaries". You may change the idea...
  17. And so a new model has born, the INfamous Drunkmariner:
  18. We trust guys with names like 张伟 or 刘伟 or 李强 that I can't even write down and fake american names living 8 time zones far from us... I'm not saying to put it in the trusted dealers, but at least if he'd like to have some new customer, then here it may be welcomed
  19. Ezio, tell him that he could do some good business with our forum members (here and in the rwg.bz ones) if he's able to do good AR treatment. So far in EU there's only Sunnydale now He just need to join here
  20. Matt, this was my concern too, but Ken explained that she "started out as my sales rep and I still call her that today but in reality she is my business partner. We draw a certain amount from the business each and in fact based on what she was earning before working for me she actually does better than I". So it's understandable.
  21. Fair enough for me. As from my conclusions, your offer is ok, in my view. Maybe, from now on, warn the customers about the problem humidity can cause and tell them in advance to put some dryer in the shipment + warn that if the item will arrive damaged because of lack of such (provide a list of to do and not to do) cares you'll not refund. I'd even prepare a sheet with suggestions on this and on how to keep the leather in good state for the future, like the real brands do, and put it inside the package.
  22. As far as I know, only Sunnydale from RWI, but he's in Finland and does only like 100 pieces each time (and one batch has been closed like 1 month ago)
