Are you starting to get the winter "Blues"... I am...
omni replied to RWG Technical's topic in General Discussion
Although it is a gen..........(cough-cough) "quartz", I'm still proud of the Zig's fantastic precise blue lume artwork on the Luminox tritium tube dial. Highly recommend sending your watches to Zigmeister. -
When he wakes up, for my fellow longtime co-besotted posting friend Demsey. I repost my personal home shaker. Here's to you bud!

"Most men know what they hate, few what they love." - English author Charles Caleb Colton, quoted in Forbes.com

I always took the opportunity for spending on experiences & events in my life that defied economic explanation at the time and never regretted the decisions, except when it was purchasing things. Inanimate objects will never replace experiences, use the money to invest in yourself, not some watch that will temporarily satisfy. There is no safety in the justification that you can always flip things. Its artificial, I'm in real estate, I oughta know right now, the economics have my future shaky and in the toilet. Don't keep going down the same path and use the means that you have to dig out of the darkness. Shopping is not one of them, been there, done that, it don't work.

Bought mine online, have never seen it in a store yet. PCVOnline.com DirectCanada.com eBay.my cgi.eBay

Beautiful, watch out, the love may lead to a gen.

Thanks for the compliment, but he's way better looking, accomplished, smarter and "sniffle" younger ................................but I have more watches, nothing like your collection though, I'm dying one day to meet and view Lani's personal watch vault one day. As you said, will fill up the back of a truck pickup bed.

And we are so blessed that you are still around and getting back to the gym.

Thanks Doc, much appreciated. Stirred deep nostalgia for the first half of my life's upbringing in & around California & the Sierra Nevadas. Hope we can hookup next year.

Patek Philippe Nautilus... Am I right to be suspicious of this watch?
omni replied to robsa's topic in Name & Shame
Its a fake alright, take a look at the crown in the 1st & 2nd pictures, it should be half that size in height and should be recessed much further into the case. Review any genuine Nautilus model and you will see what I mean. Here's a picture of gen. to illustrate: -
Why does this thread remind me of every thread in RWGRG (That's RWG1.1 for fans) RG = Regurgitated. I know about the "Bored" thing, even RWGRG is so slow; its that way as drama has sorta driven all the ones who created the drama away. There is now a thread where everyone is posting pictures of themselves instead of watches, now that's interesting. All watch talk can get sorta dry. No problem, I drink, I fall down, my throat is no longer dry one way or the other. Good for PT4GTR for stirring the pot of irreverence. Here's some irreverence, me last month while traveling. I'm trying to fight off the inevitable at age 62, (suck it in, arrange my hair instead of combing, wear all black, its slimming) this won't last long I know, but the wife liked the shot. Take your best shot P4. Lanikai, not sure I can add to your P4 virtual bachelor party but I'll take a look....................ahem.

Yes Lani, here's a quick shot. For RWGer oldtimers, its not quite in the league of Jetmid legend status.

Only one in collection, chronograph pocket watch conversion.

Oh so ditto.

When my immigrant family moved into the neighborhood I grew up in 60 years ago in California, even though my parents were both professionals (doctor, chemist) a neighbor circulated a petition not to allow us into the expensive all white professionals enclave. That was racism felt first hand, the one neighbor who signed the petition eventually apologized a few years later. My how attitudes have evolved just in my short lifespan, that we as Americans have homogenized the races over the years in ever increasing numbers and making it acceptable is commendable. It is really a melting pot when you consider the greater population in the US eventually gets absorbed within all the others. My wife is considered white, but is a mixture of immigrant backgrounds; Irish, French, Spanish, Norwegian. I foresee the same mixes for my children and children's children. That we see racism as getting more intolerable than acceptable today, even though it will never disappear, is refreshing. The fact that it can be discussed thoughtfully, joked about, even on a worldwide replica watch forum says volumes. Proud of my heritage, having been raised in the US, I'm a proud American first. My white wife, who used to rail against the country's attitudes, was forever changed by quite a few trips to other countries where prejudices are even more prevalent. I've often asked her if she saw me as a different race and the answer is "No, just a tall guy with a great tan!" Agreeing with Lanikai's mantra of Education, its the fear of the unknown that harbors racism. Yeah, we all have to put up with some uppity people that feel their race/religion/country deserve more, but that's understandable for some who want equality without waiting for social attitudes to come around over generations. Poverty encompasses all races in the US, just currently black poverty is more prevalent but as the new immigrants keep coming to the US from other places, that will eventually change. Look at the Irish in America at the turn of the century, they faced extreme racism and the impoverished Irish reacted in the same way as blacks do today.

For the Omega fans, was walking down 5th Avenue in New York City last week while on vacation and snapped these in the display window of the Omega Store. Was thinking of you guys. The 40th Anniversary Apollo 11 edition in presentation box and the Solar Impulse carbon fiber dial in titanium case and bracelet. Enjoy!

Not much now, semi-retired in me 60's. Wife & I planned this trip for a year. We visited my cousins in Sydney last year and they gave us a great new acronym to live by. We are SKINS (Spend-Kids-Inheritance-Now). We are trying our best to be totally monetarily irresponsible in this bad economy by infusing cash stimulus into the system, I think its working.

I just happened to arrive here in NYC the day before Obama, Gaddafi & Ahmadinejad address the UN General Assembly this morning. Traffic is a mess and lots of visible security in central Manhattan. Just saw Obama's speech on TV. Lots of demonstrators outside of the UN Building, think we'll avoid and visit the MOMA. Was just checking in as been traveling in Italy all month, as nice as that was, its good to be back in USA. Just a shot from our suite at the Mandarin Oriental. By the way, all the watches on Italians and in their shops are really huge, if they are fashion forward, that should tell you that big watches are here to stay for a while. Laters.

The fact that we still post after 5 years is something to be amazed at. I'm viewing who has responded to the bump of this ancient thread and its all the contributors of several years, all camaraderie. Therefore where RWG still has its popularity. By-Tor is correct, even the newb can now get a near perfect inexpensive rep as the asian have evolved refinement in manufacturing and marketing, and they will only get better. Now we see acceptable "sterile" homage type watch sections popping up on gen watch forums, which is just the rep. manufacturers going legit "under-the-legal-wire" of asian movements acceptable without the problem logos. Same cases, same movements, same factories, just no license problems....................And Reader's Digest has just recently filed for bankruptcy protection.

With the right strap, it would make a snazzy belt around the waist.

Great story! Classical music on the street will always perk my ears and peak my interest before contemporary anyday, and that is still from an aged musician's standpoint from the hippy-dippy era. Its so like being carried back to another era in realtime where it WAS played in the streets, but now is rare. My only real experience where this happens all the time is in Vienna, Austria, its still there. Its all music, but classical is always, classic. Too bad my youngest son is so far, of the headphone computer generated electronica zombie drone persuasion. I envy that you can share that with your progeny. "Roll over Beethoven".

This question has come up several times over the years and I've been on the boards since 2004. I've never read any post from any member where they were busted for having replicas when they went through customs...........................which means you will be the first that it will happen to.

Henrik_6: I will be in Roma Sept. 4 - 10th but I'm from Hawaii. (Anybody there at that time, drinks on me!) Rome's good anytime, but the high season, at least for hotel rates is concerned is considered through September. That would coincide with the temperatures. It should still be plenty warm through September, starting to cool down in October but only to sweater weather in the evening. I read that you will start to get some rain in November. Remember, you are in southern Italia so it will be warmer than say, Florence. Now to hopefully hear from the Rome members.

I'll have you know that in my travels I have worn Texas nose pickers in every one of those cities, including bumfuck, never felt out of place. If you look at Anthony Bourdain on his travel show on the Travel Channel, that's about all he wears all over the world, good for him, good for me. However, a lot of time you'll see me in Ecco shoes of various models during the day when not in jeans or long pants. Seems the boot scooters just don't go with shorts unless you're female or of that persuasion.
