  1. Cheers. I believe they may be in Hong Kong. Check out this post on Paneristi cause it looks like they are offering 15% off and $5 shipping. http://anonym.to/?http://www.network54.com...kles+on+sale%21 You may have to copy and paste it into your browser. The StrapWorks Vintage straps http://anonym.to/?http://www.strap-works.com/collection.htm also have a pretty good rugged look (I like the last two) as well and seem to be slightly more "finished" as it were. Might wanna check those out as well. Good luck. Hope it works out for you. Don't blame me if it doesn't. [edit] Think I should mention that I've heard that the SC straps are not 100% hand made. Not sure if that makes a difference to you and I'm also not positive on that information. [/edit]
  2. Fair enough. I actually like the rougher look of the SC strap. Don't know how it will affect comfort in terms of the more unfinished edges but my PAM 112H is totally going to be a casual jeans and t-shirt watch. I'll throw it on a black leather strap or oxblood or something for a more dressy look.
  3. Thanks lanikai. That's a pretty nice strap but I think it's a little bit lighter than what I am looking for. Also like the rougher look of the leather on something like this SC strap http://anonym.to/?http://www.strapculture....mp/scam554.html which is what I think I'm going to order. Price on the Toscana is much nicer though...
  4. Thanks The Zigmeister. So I guess that's something in favour of getting a winder. I spent about an hour yesterday reading old posts on winder vs. no winder. Very mixed opinions on it and I can see the point of both sides but it would seem that the less you have to fiddle with the crown to set the date/time, the better and a winder would certainly help there. Especially if an individual only has a couple watches. For someone with more, they'd be setting each one less times overall so the decreased frequency might make up for the increased wear in terms of the crown and clutch.
  5. Happy Father's Day to all the dads. Imagine all the gens you could own if you didn't have kids.
  6. This looks kind of close as well (or maybe I need to get my eyes checked). http://anonym.to/?http://www.strapculture....am551image.html SC has some HORRIBLE photos on their site though. Too much light bouncing off the straps IMO.
  7. Yeah, I was just looking on their site but the closest I can find so far is Aged Honey Brown that only comes in 26/26 and I need 24. I was pretty close to buying their Historic Brown #1 strap but then I saw this one and I think I like it more so doing a little research before I spend the money cause I only have enough budgeted for one strap at the moment. More will have to come later. Thanks for the reply though.
  8. +1 for thinking alike although I make no claim to a great mind. I don't much care for them. I like the simplistic look of the base PAMs the most; particularly the 112 or 176.
  9. Saw someone post this for sale on Paneristi. Can't afford that much for a strap but think it looks really good so wondering if anyone know of something that looks close to it. Thanks.
  10. Congrats on getting your watch. Glad to hear you're pleased. Looking forward to the day I have the spare cash to order another watch. And also to your pics as well. Hopefully you do a better job than RT in the OP. Just kidding RT.
  11. That is technically kind of unfair. He offers drop-shipping for a cheaper price than if he handles the watches himself and ships them out of the CONUS. However, given that he is in the CONUS it's easier for US buyers to resolve their issues without having to send the watch back to China like with some other dealers. This is what he states in his "Policies and Procedures": I don't think you can ask for much better than that (with drop shipping). I haven't bought anything from him but I would have no problem doing so. Or from someone else who does not drop ship e.g. Narikaa, TTK, Ruby, etc.
  12. Hope everything gets resolved to your satisfaction. I'm sure it will be. Been reading a TON of positive reviews for TWP over the last few weeks. Seems like an excellent dealer. Hoping to get a BCE myself sometime down the line. The VC Overseas is the next in my sites however. Looking forward to your pics and enjoy your new watches.
  13. That's pretty cool. You are lucky. Enjoy your new watch and all the others you have the opportunity to buy.
  14. Thanks for the response Micky. I wouldn't be worried about a gen watch; not even a cheap, mass-produced one like Fossil let's say. Kind of concerned about the replicas though. For example, The Zigmeister says in the Watch Basics FAQ: and Things like that make me wonder about the longevity of the parts in the replicas. I don't own gens so I don't know if the same would apply to them.
  15. Okay, I've read the FAQs and stuff as much as I can so sorry if I missed this but I'm curious since it seems like a fairly big deal (to me anyway). I saw where The Zigmeister said that it's literally impossible to overwind a watch unless you really try to force it so not worried about that. But let's say that I don't have a winder and have many watches (like some people on this forum) so they run down when I'm not wearing them. I therefore need to wind them before wearing to get them going even if they are automatic. As an aside, I've seen mention that you can just give the watch a little shake to get it going and then set the time and wear it (differing opinions on this from what I've read though). Alternatively, let's say that I have just one watch that I wear all the time but I travel a lot between time zones and need to change the time several times/month; related to this would be correcting the date for those months with different numbers of days. Is there a danger of damaging the watch parts? Something like stripping the threads on the crown or wearing down the clutch in an automatic movement from winding it every time it's worn. I guess that some movements would hold up better than others e.g. a 2824 compared with a 7750, the latter sounding like it's more delicate from my readings. Thanks.
  16. I've read that he wears a Timex with stars and stripes on the dial. Maybe it's just a joke about his taste in watches for such a wealthy man; US president and all that aside.
  17. I believe he wears a cheap Timex. Not joking.
  18. Yeah. For a woman.
  19. I would absolutely [censored] myself. That's amazing though. + the fact that you had the composure to take a pic.
  20. Agreed. I've said as much before. These guys aren't going to take all the risks, etc. just to make $10 profit. Obviously we're paying a premium mark-up for the service. I'm fine with that. The alternative is flying to China ourselves (or being lucky and having a local contact over there). Of course, some have much more of a mark-up than others. I recently bought a Tag Chrono from Ruby for $239 shipped via PayPal (I love her for offering this). +$10 for the PayPal included in that. The going rate is $250 at most dealers + shipping of usually $30. The smaller dealers need to have lower prices to compete. If Ruby gets as big as the others, then I'm sure she'd charge a bit more. In the mean time, she's awesome to deal with and her prices are great. On top of that she doesn't drop ship. Wow, I sound like I work for her. Anyway, based on my experiences with Ruby, I will be buying from her or The Watch Prince given that he has great service and is in the US so no customs issues.
  21. lol Thanks. I was actually looking into the Bergad Isoform as a cheaper alternative which has gotten very good reviews on many sites. Sorry to go OT but thought I'd reply. My sis has a Tempurpedic though and I slept on it for a few weeks recently and it was absolutely awesome so not just going on the hype. There is a difference.
  22. Thanks The Zigmeister. heh, so much for hoping that I could get away with a watch that's not worn frequently and is stored most of the time e.g. something a bit more dressy used on formal occasions. That wasn't the purpose of this post but it was an idea.
  23. Ah, now to just get a well-built one. Been doing a little more reading and it seems like oil will dry out over time on it's own. I admit that I did not know this. I honestly thought that it could just sit there forever if "unused".
