  1. Its a crap shoot. I just posted in another thread that i've yet to even purchase a chrono rep. Might have to pull the trigger soon. SMP chrono is excellent, as is the new skyland.
  2. Definately. I've yet to even purchase a chrono rep. Such a shame. Its hard to stay away from, but I will pluck the less complicated mvmts for now, who knows what the future will bring. Look at the superocean steelfish in ETA. gen ETA or not, you should have very high quality rep that should treat you right for a lifetime with proper servicing in that watch.
  3. Thanks Zig. I'll email you when I'm ready to get moving on this, if you would like the job. I don't care about washing the dial, but whats the pros/cons of finding the "Omega" emblem thats missing and putting it back on? There are two holes in the dial where the posts from it went. The tritium on the hands has nice patina. I don't want to replace anything, but a polish of the case and crystal would look nice. Apparently the Turler marking is a good thing. This is essentially Tiffany's & Co. in Switzerland. From what little I know these are rare dials and thus collectible. CW, thanks for the link. I'm going to spend some time looking around on it in a few.
  4. Very nice, wear it well!
  5. I like this watch for a girl, and it looks nice on her. Good choice, enjoy.
  6. Was helping my father sort through some of my grandparents things, and I came across this. The rest of the family must've missed it. "Omega" must've fell off of the dial at some point. I noticed it right away and am now the very proud owner. It's funny, because i've really wanted a genuine SMP (222080), low and behold... Thanks Grandpa. The Seamaster started to beat when I picked it up, and still keeps perfect time. All of the other automatics I found would not work. I will have to get it serviced soon. The Zigmeister? Suggestions for a new strap, whether to fix the dial, history, approx value, and all other comments are welcome. My how watches have changed; the case is so small. Blue strap is not staying on the watch, no need to comment on that.
  7. Chris, first, thanks for the reply. -No noob movement/Asian 2813. Copy ETA has correct beat, ability to swap gen ETA in (hands will fit), and it is more reliable than the A2813. in general this you would agree? -The concern with the bezel: The bezel insert doesn't hold the pearl, the metal bezel ring itself does underneath, and protrudes through the insert. You cant pull the insert off and align the pearl correctly. Common problems: -He valve position -Hand size -crown guards Do you have any SMP versions readily available to you with copy ETA? If you do, we can just take it from there even with a quick head on photo. Here is a Gen 222080 for comparison for you in relation to those common problems:
  8. Glad you are though, i'd miss the [censored] ass ex wife comments like this.
  9. Thank god man.... Eyepatches would probably prove difficult to coordinate with your timepieces.
  10. Pretty interesting revalations. If Kings bezel pearl is fixed into the metal bezel ring, then i'll assume jandrews are as well? This is a huge gray area on a very popular watch. Are we possibly dealing with a new version across the board than SMP's seen up to now? I would like to have some more information on these, maybe from our collectors. Someone. I have yet to pull the trigger on one of these myself. Maybe Chris or King could help sort some of these developments? I think i'll shoot a PM to Chris and see what is available to him and give him the link to this thread.
  11. T.. TT.. [censored].. I don't know, just messing with TT a bit I guess. Wasn't a lot of thought put into it. You know I love you all equally. T/Admin T/A, T&A.. Pattern developing again. Anyhow I think I got it sorted. It is T putting ads in the back of TT magazines. ..I know, should have let it die
  12. Ive asked her about the exact watch myself. In my email, I didnt even ask about ETA, I outwardly stated "Im ok with copy ETA". I left it open ended and just wanted an honest admission about it. She swears its a genuine ETA movement. Maybe it is, I do not know. I've never ordered from King personally. I would like to, but I'm afraid of getting burned by the same questions. I'm VERY cautious with any future purchases I make. Simply put there's cheaper alternatives if I want a "gray area" purchase. The whole algorithm about the bezel is a turn off now as well. If its affixed in that position, the watch, the review of it on this board, the alignment fix.. its void.
  13. Theres going to be some heated conversations in the 'ol Breitling boardroom at this rate. The lume at 4 and the clasp stamping issue... 9/10ths of the way keeps the CN Army away?
  14. The watch gods were kind to you afterall! I'm glad you got them Dani. I'll keep an eye out for the pictures of this infamous watch.
  15. Idol is a scam site. You'll find your spam box will have a bunch of scam rep site links if it doesnt already.
  16. 2 books? This from a guy you can't convince to watch one damn movie. (was trying to get him to watch "into the wild")
  17. Nothing is more important or valuable than time. (not quoting Mr. Hawking) Could be why we have watch fetishes.
  18. It's working as intended, which is basically to stop working in 1-10 days. This is just my personal experience with 99% of the ones I've come across though. Very nice gesture of Chris, i'd personally opt for his 2nd suggestion- DG4813 upgrade.
  19. I'm not reading all of this (again). But i've skimmed, it's all I feel is necessary to get the gist. TJ- we've been members about the same length of time. I understand your crusade, but it's moot. What does it all boil down to? Goods and services. And Sometimes you can't beat the devil at his own game. Please, read on. I'll break this entire thing down to you in one paragraph, from the way I see it: Imagine the child labor, sweat shop conditions, and god knows what other dimension of hell someone has suffered to feed their family and make what you have on your wrist right now regardless of who you got it from. Now, stand here and crusade about who's morals should really be in question. Your a good guy, but get real. I appreciate your ambition but I also know that even with the best intentions what your crusade is and always has been. We all do. You can't force everyone to get the big picture. Let yourself off the hook, its OK.
  20. great info, thanks guys. Any recommendations on a particular grease? What does the master use, KY warming? Zig hope your eye is doing better man.
