  1. Honestly, I have to agree - to some degree, in the fight for trying to get something right on you can wind up with headache and heartache unless you engage those that are masters in the craft... I think probably the best vintage sub-homage I've seen, feel free to disagree, is the Steinhart Ocean One Vintage I will be buying one of these!
  2. I really want to get more into modding cases an such myself. Really the only way to get perfection!
  3. Always jealous of guys that can buy off the rack, my body is disproportionate haha - short legs, long arms, barrel chest, broad shoulders I've been a fan of Cohen suits out of Canada. Union-stitched and you can get a gorgeous custom suit for about $700, sans fancy labels
  4. Oh okay - then you're fine - As Luc said, Andrew's is okay as long as your caseback engraving paint doesn't rub off haha... then some tester's black enamel and a tiny brush or a replacement from Andrew are necessary. Other than that, his rep is very close to genuine. Cheers, wear it in good health! Toro really should be taken off here as a trusted-dealer if his rep's are that far off...
  5. Which one did you buy? If you bought the standard non-blue model then the only issue you'll have really with the dial is the fact that the lume-markers appear to be an overlay instead of a sandwich dial as per genuine. That is until you flip it over, and the most obvious flaw is that there's no Planet Ocean on the case-back of the genuine model - the engravings are all wrong. Did you read my post and click the pictures? Also, Toro's pictures for those models are TERRIBLE...badly out of focus on the case-back, as if he's trying specifically to hide the flaws.
  6. I contacted him indeed. I definitely need one of those balls. I'll order one.
  7. Not a totally different model in the sense that there's a corresponding Omega... it's like, a rep of something that doesn't exist...
  8. Dial is very wrong, case-back is extremely wrong. Totally different than the gen, not sure what that's all about. The "blue" model is Titanium and is WAAAAY more subtle - see here It's hard to tell in pictures, but in this video you'll clearly see it's a sandwich dial and that the lume-markers are recessed below the dial, not like Toro's watch at all. The case-back is completely WRONG. Here is genuine - in this picture The rep's are missing some details, the movement sort of passes muster but the balance is way off, and so are the bracelets as they are missing quite a bit of engraving. All in all, the rep's are a good beater, and this watch will undoubtedly cost about $2,000 on eBay in 2-3 years as Omega's tend to not hold their value... that said, the TorosBravos rep is WAY off. Do not buy. I'm beginning to seriously doubt a lot of Toro's product.
  9. I got mine from Andrew at Trusty and have a problem with the paint coming off the back
  10. Knowing that guy, it's gen - a friend of mine has seen him buying many watches in Tourneau's flagship shop in NYC I wonder how many mm that gap is though, and if Domi could close it... hahahaha sorry, terrible.
  11. Dbane883 and CC33 I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE those watches. Seriously two of the nicest on the forum, and awesome to show the glamour of vintage AND modern Rolex. Great work guys
  12. Normally I don't wear this as it's kind of a family heirloom and is a bit too small for my wrist - but I do love it Genuine 1603
  13. I agree about Patek, their ad states it all - not ever owned, just looked after for the next generation. Just glorious watches, my Grandfather had one, don't know what happened to it. Sad. I'd be curious what my below listed collection says about me
  14. A young guy there (mid to late 20's ) had what he said to be a genuine Panerai on .... I couldn't tell or examine it - he was fixing up some shelves with presumably a $9k watch on.... He said their discount was decent and he was paying for it over time. Pretty wild!
  15. Looks fantastic - I really do like the blue! I had the genuine double-green for awhile, great watches.
  16. Saw this over at vintage rolex market... Can anyone shed any light? http://www.network54.com/Forum/207673/message/1420467476/FS-+ROLEX+9315+bracelet+w-+280+ends+12+links+super+nice+condition+%282+X%29+....+USD1180+each
  17. Vintage Genuine Datejust, still good for about 7 seconds of illumination after hitting it with the iPhone flashlight.
  18. Divine! Really exceptional piece and truly something special. I'm jealous
  19. Happy wife, happy life... Great choice man, she'll surely love it!
  20. Honestly, the ones that get relumed lol... sorry, just the way it is from what I've seen. Some Noob Rolex's might be okay, but relume jobs are the best way to go if you want it bright.
  21. I have a friend that saved up to buy a hot new watch, he got a Panerai Ceramic - he loves it and there's a few other guys in his office with Panerai - almost same # as Rolex... this is NYC though.
  22. I seriously look forward to the day when someone has the stones to *try* to call me out on some Franken and I can tear them to shreds :)
  23. Very thorough flaming from absentee poster... kind of makes you question the merit of the post...
  24. Anyone else having an issue with the black paint / ink on the rear of the watch "Seamaster 300" or any of the other lettering wiping off??? I've had to repaint mine 2x already for words/letters disappearing... pretty annoying to have to do this after only a couple months of occasional (non-sweaty) wear.
