  1. There very few instances where we can say with 100% truth, but I think this is one: No one likes impoliteness. That's why I thought what we're discussing is a bit moot. Other stuff, like spelling, grammar, and overall presentation are not strong suits on the internet. That's probably what makes RWG.CC's members so special. The regulars and even the fly-by-night newbies seem to more well-spoken than others. THANK GOD. But at the end of the day, being polite is not something you can judge about yourself. It's what others judge of you. And total silence as a "reply", is just as rude, IMHO. As an indolent correspondent, I know just how much it is, with regret. If it's such a recurring issue, perhaps a .sig statement to the effect of, "I place great store in politeness in interpersonal communication. Do not approach me if you don't." Or words to that effect.
  2. That's curious. I have yet to receive any newbie PM that was nothing but polite, even to the point of deference, which makes me proud. Ironically, for a lady who places great store in communicating with flair, and loves grammar, I don't care if the person is a little inelegant. Like TeeJay, I would've probably answered the original PM. We're here to help each other, yes? BTW, here I'd like to take the opportunity to publicly thank Toadtorrent for "Over 8 Million Newbies Served" under my forum ID. That was his idea, not mine, and it was genius.
  3. Always liked it more than the 089! So much more versatile, Scoobs. Look at the braceleted version: Wear it in good health!
  4. After yesterday's double-fault, you go on to win the set with an ace!! Magnificent. My own Metta Catherina hide is arriving any day now, and I can only dream of having a strap look this way.
  5. BEFORE DISCOVERING RWG.CC AFTER DISCOVERING RWG.CC
  6. Boss-Key For the record, women much prefer a man to look at a photo of a man, than to be looking at other women, but hey.
  7. My favourite was the Mad Maxx Extreme. Sold USED for $350+10 S/H, within those 10 minutes. Ted Ammo straps are more restrained. Check out this one (worn by a lady!). Pricetag used: $250...
  8. Automatic = Cary Grant Quartz = Hugh Grant
  9. Wow! On the contrary, I love them. May I save them for future use? Personal Photo and all that. @Demon: Perfect. Another candidate for Kirlianation would be Frank's Espresso Club pic.
  10. TeeJay, just to note that people will suggest you coat the buckle with clear nail varnish. This past year I went through a highly allergic time in my life. I'm still in a critical moment, with many triggers. So I can say without doubt that the clear nail varnish only partially works. I'm sure with less allergic others the trick works, but I still have angry rep splotches where the buckle is coated. Looked this up online for you. Grade 1, Commercially Pure Titanium Composition Titanium 99.67 Carbon 0.08 Iron 0.03 Nitrogen 0.03 Oxygen 0.18 Hydrogen 0.015 So no nickel...the problem is, most rep watch makers cheat. Many Ti watches are hardly that. @TeeJay: Quite so, but I meant if you buy the Bund Strap, which would minimise the need for a full watch coating. ...I have a Bund strap. Looks hideous on me. So far the only woman I know who looks good with one is our beloved Megan Fox.
  11. +1 for Mrs. V.
  12. SATURDAY DSN 113H with OF Mario Paci Medici Tan. Did you know that in American restaurants, if you dine before 6 PM, it's two for one draught time? So I had a Sam Adams. Velvety rich strap this Medici. I quite like it with the white-dials! @Demon: I wish I had Photoshop! I just discovered Paint.net though. Very nice proggie. Your second to last pic is my fave. @UB7: What an exquisite fireplace! It's a true Americana classic. @Frank: Welcome back! Bbell6 was asking about touring Swiss watch factories in another thread. Maybe you have tips?
  13. There is something about the mechanism of a watch which must've alarmed human beings, back in the 1600s. Wearing them was a bit like having a stranger on your person, living alongside you. But it's also comforting. Tick-tock, like a human heart. Moving. Ticking. Winding. Springing. There is no Ghost in the Machine feeling with a quartz.
  14. I'm bumping this thread since I remember CT posting it, and it sparked my interest on buying the Fish. If he is a member of the forums, we're looking for a young Canadian guy. You can tell by his elongated pronunciation ('mawww-del' for model, e.g.). Hope his cold got better... As good as his analysis was, did you notice how his pearl is just a TICK misaligned, and he didn't mention it? Or is it my eyes? If his motivation was to tell the average person to watch out for reps, that really should've been the first "tell" to mention (misaligned pearl), whether or not his had it. From what I have read since two nights ago, it's fairly common. If he's a member of the boards, he would've known that.
  15. RWiki's article, "A common list of abbreviations" updated with that definition! http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?autoco...ticle&id=83 Tooth, if you haven't before, check out this article. It's a gold mine of rep watch info. @Tooth: LOL! That made me smile, Tooth, thanks.
  16. Picture postcard beautiful. No, not beautiful. MAJESTIC. I can't get enough of these birds, as Narikaa once said.
  17. You know when a Wristcheck thread is a really good one? When Page 3 is just as full of amazing photos as Page 1. Great shots, one and all! Even Pirvan's, which I can't see. GASP! Perfection. I think I have it, but it looks SOOO good on a gen PAM, Golfman! @Cronsell & Pug: Beautiful Fishes. I am happy to report that in SoBe, there are a lot more chances for me to see SFSOs. Or maybe, now that I got one, I just "see" more of them. (Cronsell, especially like the hommage shot) @V: Pix was right! I see that the Cali dial is much more versatile than I thought. @Omega: You don't know this, but you provided me with info on buying a Fish strap with racing "holes", in another thread. Thanks! @Cats: If you sell your MM, they'll be queueing up for days. Gorgeous watch. EDIT: Pirvan's just turned up! @PTOLOMEO: Hope you see this. Dude, is that the Simona blue? I do have it, good memory! I have yet to put it on any watch. I am saving it, for what I don't know. But we'll see, maybe a gen.
  18. Mods, Tom: Rather fey observation but it's been puzzling me -- Tom Hawkes' ID is the only one which has icons of all his ratings, to date, under each post. Is this a known glitch? EDIT: Actually, I have to correct myself. Even more bizarrely, the ratings reflect neither those given him, nor those he gave to others. If you click on the rating icon next to the ID, you'll see it. "List" is also ghosted.
  19. Precisely. It's been taken out of its pouch only once, for a Wristcheck. Twice at the very outside. Most of my straps have been worn only a handful of times. That's why I love buying straps from Risti, with patina achieved.
  20. Please tell me your friend is "McLovin"! This was my fave bit: Eww. LOL.
  21. LOL! Shundi, thanks for the Sarah Silverman comment. That must've been a blast for your chum. :)

  22. Ptolomeo, nice to see you here! And wow. Wallpaper, if you can! Is that on Tootall's British Steel strap? I have to get that strap.
  23. Thanks, Shundi! You made me so happy just now. The strap looks thick, chunky, but it has a wonderful, light feel to it. Stiff, as you would expect from an old ammo pouch. But like straw in parts. This strap is going to be "married" to the DSN Fiddy!
  24. I love these threads, Phaedo! Here's a repost from By-Tor's GMT Rolex and Explorer thread. My father's Rolex GMT Master II "Coke" version bought in a member trade on RWI.
