I'm telling you...unbelievable. It's the prop watch of CHOICE! Check out the Paul Newman as worn by JASON BATEMAN (hello, 80s hearthrob) in the wry, hip teen comedy "Juno". It's a smart film which I think you will like, if you haven't seen it yet. It was just nominated for several Oscars today.

I'm glad to see your watch, nice and big. That's the classic Wristcheck shot at that. @Tazzman: Great photo!

How "much/long" do our reviews/fanfare affect pricing?
Victoria replied to Daytona4me's topic in General Discussion
I think By-Tor's reviews are above reproach, for one. He gives you the good and bad of every watch he reviews. So does Pix, etc. And frequently, members review each other's items where merchant provenance is never mentioned. I don't mean this harshly, but there is such a thing as being too cynical, with respect. -
Correct. E.G.: The "8 Days" Panerai has an 8 day power reserve. Like the Lange models, you can actually see it "count down" to let you know how much time you have left. But, Mseanschmidt...I am reminded vaguely I PMed you -- and you replied. I hope I answered you, as I recall it was before RWG was upgraded! If not, please let me know what it was you needed.

How "much/long" do our reviews/fanfare affect pricing?
Victoria replied to Daytona4me's topic in General Discussion
On the one hand, By-Tor's reviews, Pugwash's reviews or Pix' reviews of their watches makes me WANT TO BUY a watch, sometimes even one I never thought of previously. On the other, if it is true what you say, and we are exploring the topic -- we come again to the problem that some people expect these Chinese businessmen/women from not behaving like any other businessman. Of course high-demand items will remain high-priced longer. That's the whole point of the free market system. I don't see anything wrong with that, honestly I don't. I wish someone would sit down with me, and tell me why they think this shouldn't be. It's mindboggling. It's like folks expect merchants to OWE us cheaper watches, somehow. Guessing it's some kind of psychological component that a rep watch shouldn't be outlandishly priced, seeing it's already a copy. It smacks of unfair play, is that it? I think the forum reviews are invaluable from sorting out the good from the bad watches. And they prevent many a person from buying a "version" of a watch, until it comes out. It's like buying a watch yourself, by reading a review and determining if you like it or not. E.G.: Several excellent reviews on, and I still haven't bought my dad or boyfriend a "Super" Sea Dweller. -
Barbosas I am so happy for you, congrats! You got my dream watch - the 005. Well, I was waiting to mention this tomorrow, but I am about to buy one from Davidsen! FINALLY. I'll have more news tomorrow, once he sends me the pics. For straps on sale I recommend http://timeconnection.biz/page/timeco/CTGY/Special. Please post pics on the Wristchecks, as there is nothing more beautiful than your 005.

What a STUNNING romantic photo. I can feel the log fire and the champagne on ice from here. @Scoobs: Thanks! I like the idea of the two-toned strap Raymond mentioned, though I'm sure it's just a lovely mocha brown. @Ylfig: Ahh, allow a tip? 1- Go to Image Shack 2- Tick/Check Resize Image 3- Choose size (640x480, or 800x600 work well) 4- Browse to photo, upload 5- Go to the bottom to "direct url" 6- C/p link on your post 7- Use second green-button on top from left OR type [ img ] ... [ / img ] around link 8- Good luck!

MONDAY My new Casio Baby-G Shock "Sweet Poison" in white! As shown in "Wearing Reps to the Gym". TUESDAY The very gorgeous Silix Rolex Datejust with Roman Numerals.
-
I have to be honest, without the ratings I feel less motivated with the Wristchecks. Mmm, nice, Raymond! Some very nice wristchecks in general today. Jsmith11, that photo of your Navi World on SS is gorgeous. Ylfig, your new Ingy chrono too!
-
Everyone likes the SS bracelet on me. In a Cuban cafe last week, the window lady brought over the other ones to show them my watch. "Mira mira!". The PAM bracelet is a show-stopper. But I don't like it on me... @Xyphis: I couldn't agree more. The 111h I have is a DIFFERENT watch visually, with the bracelet. Only reason I keep one of the two I have, on it.

I wanted to share this with you... My first ever watches
Victoria replied to V's topic in My Collection
Wow! I remember that one, V. Great write-up, too. Like Predfan, my first real watch was a Mickey Mouse one. And hey, I am Olympiakos too. -
Magnificent. That was THE "it"-place in 2007 (along with Beijing and Rio). And thanks for not going to Cuber, like so many Canadians. Honest and true. Best part of this holiday is that these are awesome, unusual watches to have picked up. The strap on the Hamilton is STUNNING. Congrats and welcome back, Jawo!

Beautiful, Helmut! I get some PMs about StrapCulture straps sometimes, and I direct them to forum members who like them. I will keep you in mind, if that's okay with you. What is the background? It looks like a yacht's helm, although I see a famous chef's name there too. EDIT: Ahh, I betray my age. Is that an old victrola?

Have you ever had an argument with a woman? We never forget. Ever. Scary. (We didn't have an argument of course, though!) It's a shame you couldn't find work in Austria, Viennawatch. I see that though your great love is the Middle East, when you went to get a forum ID, it was the Vienna that called to you. And why not. I love the USA and have emigrated here, but when I registered in one site once, I chose BritishVic as my ID. WHEW. I realise some areas are more liberal than others...but that's s big nono. Reminds me of that old joke, "What is the difference between adultery in the West and Middle East?" "In the Middle East, you are stoned after you commit adultery. In the West, you get stoned before you commit adultery." Good luck, Viennawatch!

KEN!! WELCOME BACK! :yahoo:

"Miss Search" strikes again, SD4000. BTW, V never did give out a prize. What's up with THAT?

You sunk my battleship!! *hidden answer here*

LOL! I know the ones you mean. OTOH, have you seen the amount of fat bald schlubbs who buy Panerai and Rolexes? Wonder who they are trying to kid. This is a much-needed peak at a place I didn't even know existed -- Santee Alley. Thanks, Doc! I wish someone would post their cities' backstreet counterfeit areas, although in non-metropolises in America, it's hard. In South Florida, there are parts of Westchester and Hialeah where you can find knock-offs, but that's under-the-counter merchandise. Nothing like this place in LA or heaven forbid, Canal St. It doesn't help that we have no Chinatown at all. Toronto has two!

Karate, Karate HA HA HA. You're an SP, Jon Fort. P.S.: Glad you enjoyed it, Cornerstone, Jot! The original IS SCARY GOOD.
-
By now, everyone has watched the Tom Cruise Scientology Video "They didn't want you to see". But have you seen Craig Ferguson's?
-
Zypher, great watch!! I guess there is no way to say this, but out with it -- as you have read, that is not a Crazy Horse strap. If someone sold you that as a Greg Crazy Horse, they lied. This is what a Crazy Horse with black stitching looks like. But the hide is the important bit. EDIT: Hope he doesn't mind, but this the Greg CH with white stitching by Hoochman. @Tutima: Good catch. The strap also looks rubbery to me. @Zypher below:Thanks so much! The 177h is a great favourite of mine -- from Andrew/Trustytime, FYI.

The vintaging is SUPERB, Rolli. If you ever go into the professional modding business, let me know. I'll get you to do my dial. BTW: This background photo reminds me of Isabella Rosselli, or even Louise Brooks. One of those strangely modern-faced types, who look best in mannish clothes.

Rating: Gold Star. By-Tor, I personally have never bought a Sub, but I have for my father. He's got the "So-Called Perfect" Sub, a Coke like you, and an LV. He's like so many men -- he considers them the quintessential timepiece. Not sure I believe this "story" of yours, though. Your Pepsi and Coke must have flaws and you still own/love them. Why not the plain Sub??
-
Hmm. I'm not sure what to make of this story, but it's good to know Steve and Ali's son name is Chad. Such an American name, don't you think? If I were a more suspicious person, Mediawonk, I'd say you were planting a story on a replica site, for a future write-up.

How To: Read & use the markings on your bezel.
Victoria replied to gioarmani's topic in General Discussion
How many times do I have to read a Gioarmani post, and think, "Dang, this guy only posts useful stuff". So many times! Thank you so much. I love learning from your accomplished reviews.
