So it sounds like you are saying this might work? I will let you know a price. I'm guessing around $25USD or less though, and probably better in quantity.
I don't know the equations to do the calculations, but originally you were saying FL would be 12mm for ROC of 8.4 but now you're saying it's 10.52-10.82... Why the discrepancy?
Another question... how is sapphire quality specified? I can try to get information about the sapphire if I know what quesitons to ask.
The prototype looks great. Very Lelloish, actually... but we won't go there. In any event, I will say that Davidsen has been and continues to be a great asset to our hobby, and he is continually striving to improve the items he brings to us. He really does listen to and heed our advice, so perhaps a new crown is in the works? I do know that he is addressing the recessed pin issue with his CGs and new logo dials are on the horizon... so who knows. It would be interesting to hear from D himself indeed.
Those that have worked on or are working on PAM cyclops projects, please let me know what you think of these specs for a 6mm cyclops that I have found.
Round sapphire, 6mm diameter.
Total height with edge 0.95mm
Central thickness 0.55mm
Radius of curvature 5.21mm
Magnification roughly 1.4x to 1.5x depending on distance.
Yea, I'd been thinking about filing one down, too... But the bevel would be tough without a metal lathe. Since I haven't purchased the crown yet for the 27a (or the 27a quite yet for that matter), I think the davidsen is the better choice. The retapping of the case should be easier than thinning and rebeveling.... in my mind anyhow.
This is the thread you want to read: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=14065
As it turns out, I have access to Tse's bags, and several of us are trying to track down the Korean super copies right now. Stay tuned.
I think I can provide one for you.... But, there's a minor issue. I have a couple VERY stubborn bezels that just won't pop off with the razor blade mathod. And the last time I forced one off, it bent. So if you or anyone has a suggestion for removing a very stubborn bezel (aside from purchasing a $200+ Bergeon remover) I'm all ears.
My thoughts are #4 would look the best on the 187 (assuming it has the blue 1000 like the gen on the dial to match the stitch), but I like #3 the best overall. Also, see this thread: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=7812

Private files... Pics not showing up. But, yea, I recall them being from Scotland and few moons ago. New pics would be cool, and a short description of lighting, wattages, lightbox setup, etc wouldn't be bad either!!
Nice stuff, I am sure.
Indeed. Hey TTK, a few years ago I remember you having a few pics of your macro photog setup. Is that still around somewhere? I'm particularly interested in your lighting and diffusion material.
Best of luck in Bali.... I like Paris better from the standpoint of having a much lower chance of getting blown up. But, then, Bali is paradise and in a few years it'll probably be even between the two locales.
