  1. I would definitely recommend the counter sinking if at all possible. But the problem with some cases tends to be the downward offset of the case tube hole. So you might break through the bottom edge of the case when you do your countersinking.
  2. Nice indeed. But if you really want to see a beauty, check out the VC Malte Grande with guilloche dial. I don't know if it is still in production, but it was around 5 or so years ago.
  3. Probably the best dial they've done yet. Nice piece. Enjoy!
  4. I've always wondered about the thought process behind starting threads like this and have concluded that it can only be an extreme lack thereof. 16 emails? Wow. I would have started filtering them out after 5 or so. And, you know, now it dawns on me why Bob Frei has gone completely insane!
  5. Yea, I heard about him on a gen board a while ago... Old-school European also. Must be the same guy.
  6. Looks like some sort of Omega / Rolex hybrid actually... Awesome.
  7. Oh well. What are you going to do... Maybe Francisco will think of something!
  8. Nice work, R! I the newly assembled one housed in a gen case? I detect slight differences between it and yours. All three are knockouts though!
  9. Ditto. The original description doesn't really make sense in the first place.
  10. I once had rodico lift the dial print off a rep dial, and off of a gen 2836 ETA date wheel. As far as the glass, I'm not sure it would leave a clear surface or if it would leave smudges. So I don't use it on the glass either.
  11. I've heard of a guy in Union Square who is said to be excellent, but supposedly only a couple years away from retirement. No personal experience with him, but if interested, I could probably dig through some archived forum posts and find his info.
  12. The only surprise there is that you actually found someone to take the other side of the bet.
  13. And in the West, as well, by god! Oops I posted again.
  14. While this will be my last post in this thread, having tried unsuccessfully to refrain from posting in the first place, I will simply say that Corgi is absolutely correct at least in his characterization (not necessarily in his prediction). For the political junkies such as myself, who followed this one very closely, what happened on November 4, 2008 was nothing short of a pop cultural coup d'
  15. Nah... Partisans would say something like, "DOW 7949: Change we can believe in."
  16. Yea, seriously. Give me a purple president if he or she is THE most qualified to lead.... And here we have Obama unable to even recite the oath of office coherently without a teleprompter. Just sayin' And it seemed the only people making race an issue in this election are/were the Obama campaign officials and/or supporters.
  17. Why not humor us? Send a couple emails directly to Bob Frei asking where the rest of your stuff is, and post his response(s) (and possible threatening voice mails) here...
  18. Man oh man... can't believe they're resurrecting the 28. That 332 is great looking though!
  19. Thanks, for the update, RG. A good reminder to all that this is, after all, a HOBBY. Your knowledge and abilities are appreciated and valued to the extent where we sometimes tend to go overboard in extracting from your expertise, but with that said... 50 emails per project. No excuse, folks!
  20. You could try to get some sort of spacer between the dial and movement to work assuming longer posts for the hands are available. But then you have to deal with a sunken date wheel in the date window. In the end, I would guess it either wouldn't work or wouldn't look good.
  21. No sweat, my friend. Not your fault. Your guy must not have told you what he actually did (i.e. swap out the rehaut rings). In any event, I'm now trying to borrow someone's V2 rep dial so I can take a measurement of its thickness with my dial calipers to compare to the thickness of a gen... I'm very curious to see what the real deal is with the V2s as well. And I'm REALLY hoping it doesn't turn out to be more of the same with all the 1:1 V2 swap stories out there.... We will see, but at this point I'm not holding my breath.
  22. Cross posting the final answer to this one, for future reference....
  23. Done and done!!! Much thanks, The Zigmeister. I'm glad we now have the truth staring us in the face!!
