@champagne-communist Yes ! I have idea to make that. Tiffany & co, or better a Serpico y Laino. Even if these inscriptions are white not gilt as they are printed later by the seller. I can only do gilt. And I think to make a custom with my real name too :

First I bleached the dial few minutes. Will say 4 or 5 minutes. Don't know exactly. To achieve brown color I heated it slowly with a kitchen blowpipe. Be careful to not burn it !

Nice ! Similar lume recipe for me. Lume powder, varnish, acrylic white paint, Terre de Sienne. House made dial.

@tomhorn The dial is not a problem. I can draw and print it on decals. I could start from a 16000 and found a bezel. Is the datejust crown is the same as explorer ?

@tomhorn Thanks I will read it. I want to built an explorer for my lovely wife. She's not interested by watches, but she's following my experiments and build with attention. She didn't wore a watch for yeeaars as many people. Last week I show her a 1016 and a 6610, she love it and ask me to build one for her. I need case, crown, hands and movement. I'll draw a nice gilt dial.

So if I choose to make a 1016 I can start with a 16000 datejust.

Ok I'm started to search information for this build. Is there many modification to do to this case to reach 1016 or 6610 ?

How do you shave CG ? Diamond file ? I already shave the inner side of CG on my Cartel. Do you think it's still possible to achieve PCG on it ?

@hologramet Thanks but not perfect at all. The insert is the cheapest I found on cousins. Sold as a 5513 replacement but the pearl is bad and the hole is very big. I need to buy a better one from wso or yuki. Agree for the pearl. I will order it soon. Any advice between Athaya, wso or yuki pearl ? I'm satisfied with my nato's French dealer Esprit-Nato. The quality is very good and they are G10 compliant. Will see Timezone.

Over bleached Cartel insert replaced by a cheap cousins insert. Not very accurate but nice enough for the moment. And the same insert bleached and heated.
