  1. Check out some brands that aren't repped. If you like dress tank watches check out David Yurman. Oris is good for mechanical sport watches.
  2. Besides getting spammed to millions of people and turning up on page 1 of google searches for Rolex or Breitling now we have mainstream newspapers like the Guardian having banner ads for replica watches!
  3. I think I may go to guangzhou later this year, thanks for the tips on the customs...I will probably ship most of them back. This thread here is a great read about Guangzhou http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=15352
  4. You can change the settings under My Controls >> Options >> Board Settings I block all sigs and avatars, many are a waste of bandwidth and scrolling time. Some of the avatars are fun but too many are animated and annoying. Also many are inappropriate if you want to read the site at work.
  5. I've been wearing the Aquaracer for about a week straight...I'm not sure I want to take it off, but I might switch to another just for variety this weekend.
  6. I like all watches, rep or gen. I really want to get some unique genuine watches that exemplify that craftsmanship and detail of a fine timepiece like one of these.... I like my gen Seikos and my wife's gen Gucci. The Gucci is over 10 years old. Just had to change the battery once.
  7. Yeah it's funny how growing up sometimes we are conditioned to think that ballet is "gay" or that doing ballet is not a masculine thing. Then when you get older you realize if you do ballet you get to dance with incredibly gorgeous ballerinas in amazing shape and in very sensuous movements....I feel like a real dummy for going to basketball camp with sweaty guys when I could have been learning ballet I agree that Mikhail's movado has to go, but he has an endorsement deal with them I think I recall seeing ads with him wearing one.
  8. I was looking at a ceramic white Chanel watch for men and my wife said it was a little too "gay" looking... Something funny, when you type in "gay watch rolex" into google this thread is the 3rd link that comes up.
  9. You're talking about some wierd "royal" euros. I was having dinner a few years ago in Italy with a duke or something from Spain (I don't really recall as those titles are meaningless to me). He was cheap as hell and could not care less about other people's money. My businessman friend was paying the bill and this royalty guy ordered expensive wine and never offered to pay. He rents out his castle too, to get money. That is not USA style at all, totally different culture.
  10. Reminds me of a time I was at a gas station in South Florida and a man in Ferrari was next to me, I said wow cool car (I was driving a volvo rental car). He was the same style as the South Beach dude, "yeah thanks" and thats it.... Norwegian style is more reserved that average American. Who knows maybe he thought it was shallow that the first thing you noticed is the brand name of his watch (unlikely in an area like south beach where everyone seems to be showing off something)...or maybe he's a just a jerk. I noticed in that some wealthy people there is a tendency to not want to be bothered at all, some are just aloof. I bet some of the people who have a reps of that watch actually appreciate the design of it more than snobs like that tourist who can afford the genuine.
  11. I stumbled upon this old thread and found it interesting. I'd expect to see people looking down on Quartz watches on some of the more elitist watch forums but RWG has always struck me as a really "down to earth" group despite our obsession with a material item like watches. crystalcranium, check out the Citizen Campanolas and tell me these watches lack soul. A better analogy might be someone who buys an Infiniti or a Lexus over an less reliable German make (e.g. Audi). The German car may have more character and tradition built into it, but the Japanese car will be more reliable and will have flawless electronics (increasingly important on modern vehicles). Of course a lot of this is just image and marketing, since many of the parts are in fact manufactured for german cars in Asia. BMWs are made in South Africa, USA and Mercedes are made in USA....some of the best Japanese cars are designed in the USA.
  12. Yeah those Seawolf Titanium discontinued reps are going for too much these days, $400-$500. I would love to get one but for that much I'm ready to start thinking about a used gen or a brand new gen.
  13. What made you decide to get a genuine one? Did you buy it online or in an AD? I am thinking of getting a genuine one too. The Blacksteel one is really cool with a rubber strap, I have not seen it for sale anywhere though.
  14. Wow! What a tremendous piece of work, that is a beautiful gen that can be truly appreciated for years to come.
  15. Yes I agree those versions are better designs, too bad they were not repped.
  16. I just saw this rep is now available. Here are a shot of the genuine to wet your appetite along with the rep.
  17. I've heard India has areas that are disgusting with effects of the caste system, but it is a huge country and has a fascinating culture. If you have enough money to afford getting paid that little why not just sign up for the language classes yourself (probably cheap in China and you could select the schools based on which is best). Spend the rest of my time doing your own thing...it would be cool to Peace Corps or something like that. This reminds me of that episode of Seinfeld where Kramer starts Kramerica Inc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_Vl01EqsJA
  18. I'm pretty happy with my Seiko Samurai I agree these Seiko dive watches are a great deal.
  19. There is an great lume test in this forum. The Ball with tritium is amazing. http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=81978
  20. Went by an AD the other day and took a couple of pictures of the Portuguese.
  21. One of the most common things spammed in emails (besides viagra and porn stuff) is replica rolex and watches.
  22. Thanks doc, I was thinking the cyclops might cause some trouble. I'm just getting used to the anti-glare on two other watches I have, the subtle AR on the Tag Aquaracer and my Seiko sportura. I thought it'd be fun to mod this watch a little. Maybe I'll look for a gen dial down the road, those sound pretty expensive though.
  23. I was looking at my Explorer II rep today and I was thinking that it would be nice to have AR put on it. This watch appears to have no AR on it. Has anyone tried it on this model yet and is there any concerns with the Rolex Bubble. I realize the gen of this watch does not appear to have AR.
