  1. That's a rough one, I would try to look at it as a fun opportunity if you really love the watch you can fix it up, or you can get a newer model that is similar. This is a good excuse to get a new watch with different colors. If you decide to fix it maybe use it as a chance to upgrade the movement or do something like get AR done to it when you're getting it fixed. Another option of course is get a new one, these are reps so not a big deal when they die...but still the sentimental loss is disappointing.
  2. Still kickin' it with the Seikos this week, this time the Sportura....making sure I'm not a 1/5th of a second too late with this chrono... ...love the anti-glare saphire crystal on this one.
  3. This is an old article but it is an interesting read. http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/for...75455/index.htm
  4. It really is too bad the Portuguese is so unreliable , otherwise that would be my first choice of an IWC replica. With the horror stories of stopped seconds movements all over the forum I can't justify the purchase.
  5. Unless the thing is made of a precious metal that is absurd to pay that much for a replica in my opinion. You could get a really nice Gen for that much, like a Breitling Seawolf.
  6. With all the health concerns coming out of China and Chinese products I have thought about this when my "little box of SARS" as my wife likes to call the boxes that the replicas come in. It has crossed my mind that this is probably not produced in the cleanest environment, but I figure sticking with basic stainless steel reps is safest.
  7. I read this story in the New York Times recently regarding replica bags and replica luxury goods. It definitely is a thought provoking piece. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/30/opinion/...amp;oref=slogin
  8. This week I'm kickin' it with the Seiko Samurai.
  9. yeah that is pretty funny. I want to go over there and check out the fjords.
  10. Yeah, I love the super strong nylon they use and the strong stitching. I thought there might be high end reps because they make the bags in Vietnam and maybe some of the designs and materials snuck out from there and some disgruntled employee decided to start making their own. Right now I have mostly swiss army luggage and bags which is similar quality to Tumi, not as cool looking though.
  11. You shouldn't have anything to worry about, they are more worried about drugs and terrorism than a few watches. Just curious what part of Norway are you from, one of my friends is staying in Haugesund for the last month. I wanted to go visit but the timing wasn't right.
  12. That is the funniest thing I've seen here. Hey if it sells why not....but it's $16 for CK rep underwear? That's the same price as Macy's website Ken, can you get Rep Nikes or Rep Tumi bags? I'd like some Tumi luggage and a some Nike Air Force Ones.
  13. Do you ever feel kind of bad taking their time and trying on the watches if you don't intend to buy them? I have done it a few times and I feel a little bad but I always plan to buy a gen in the future.
  14. Don't worry about it, just get it replaced under warranty. Electronics are like disposable items now, as long as your songs are backed up on the computer you can transfer them all to the replacement ipod.
  15. Use the macro setting on your digital camera and make sure there is plenty of light. Can't wait to see it!
  16. I went into a high end watch shop today and browsed the watches. Looking them over, I remembered By-Tor's guide to the Breitling reps and decided to try on a few of those. I was drawn to the Titanium watches as their muted colors and matte finish are demure in comparison to the other flashy Breitlings. The Aerospace Advantage with the Quartz and digital was awesome in person, I may actually buy one of these gens as this watch has a uniqueness that I really enjoyed. I recalled that the Avenger Seawolf Titanium was one of the best reps By-tor mentioned he'd ever seen and tried it on. I was really impressed by the style, it was big but being Titanium it wasn't too heavy and after wearing a Tag Aquaracer chrono it didn't feel any bigger than that watch. I decided to come home and order it and figure out where to order a rubber strap since that was how the one in the store was outfitted. As I did a little more research on the forum it appears to not be a wise watch to purchase. From what I have read, the rep that is available on Perfect Clones is actually not as good as the one By-Tor and others raved about. The only way to get that version is through a collector who decided to part ways with it and the prices are jacked up due to the demand. Seawolf Titanium Is the reason it was stopped due to the difficulty in sourcing titanium or forging titanium? I'm disappointed but I may use this as an excuse to save up for the gen Aerospace with the digital, which I have found two good photos of below.
  17. It probably won't be that hard for you, I'm a newbie at this stuff, so I'm sure a more experienced watch person wouldn't have had as much trouble as I did, I think that this watch is a bit more difficult than most though, the Rolex I have were so easy to adjust, took 10 seconds and no ridiculous amount of force needed to adjust.
  18. I used to live near Walter Reed hospital in DC and I saw many of the disabled veterans. It's really sad to see these young guys with no legs and badly burned. So many damaged soldiers from this war too. Hopefully they don't end up homeless one day too. I had a few times in the past where road rage type of situations affected me. Mostly it was just the stress of being stuck and impatience of being stuck in traffic, not rage at other drivers. I live near subway and avoid rush hour, it's too stressful. Unfortunately for many people live in sunbelt cities like the ones Florida where you need a car to go anywhere, really means your stuck in your car more and more.
  19. I got an Explorer II recently with white face and I really like it, it is perfect size and shape for my wrist. I like it but it has been overshadowed by the Tag Aquaracer that I also got but I think in the long run I will wear the Explorer more over time. Do you guys know how to manual wind this watch? I tried turning it clockwise after unscrewing the crown and it didn't start the watch movement.
  20. Doesn't sound like the ipod died, sounds like you can't get it to show up on your computer. It plays ok, just doesn't sync with your PC? Try reinstalling latest version of iTunes.
  21. I agree, I don't like that logo below the Panerai.
  22. The 42mm Aquatimer looks great, the size looks more balanced and appeals more to me than the big Jacques Cousteau Diver. The more I study the IWC designs I'm really starting to like the IWC aesthetic. There are a few others that I may get in addition to the Aquatimer, what are your opinions on these, I see am excellent review of the Pilot here Here's a couple of shots of some of these favorite IWC Gens for comparison: The St. Exupery doesn't appear anymore on the IWC site, I have heard only 1630 of these were made.
  23. What do you guys think of the Bell&Ross 03-94 that is being offered with Quartz Chrono movement by PerfectClones.
  24. Solid tips and screenshots jiro! I'm surprised by the technique and professionalism of some of the photos on this site, it amazes me the passion behind the posters hobby here. Really shows the appreciation for the design and artistry of the watches. I hope not too much Photoshop is done in the reviews, only in the sense that we need some journalistic integrity to not cover up the flaws. This isn't Cosmopolitan or playboy where all the pictures need to be altered. Things like removing glare and dust I think are good to do of course like jiro shows here.
