  1. Bravo!!! I would be interested in one of each style - to start with.
  2. I'll be following this with interest also. (hey, where did the popcorn eating smiley go?.....)
  3. Yes, I would say so, it does have a certain Paul Newman-like look to it. Its maybe one of the reasons I like it so much, its seems to have a retro 1960s' quality about it, which is kind of cool since it was produced in the early 2000s'. Also, my appreciation goes out to folks like By-Tor, Lanikai, Pugwash, Stephane, et. al. for their reviews. They are the inspiration for this and for those who have never done a review, you will never appreciate the time and effort it takes until you do. I got this watch last year (Nov. 2007), and it took life this long to let me have the time to take the pictures and put the words together. Still, the effort is worth being able to share a great watch with the community. Happy Holidays RWG
  4. Welcome, and enjoy your stay. As others have said, this addiction is a slippery slope indeed.
  5. BTW - the picture of the gen and its caseback in this review is from the Antiquorum Omegamania catalog. Must give credit where cedit is due.
  6. REVIEW OF THE OMEGA SPEEDMASTER SCHUMACHER LEGEND DECEMBER 2008 BY: SOUTHCOAST68 I decided to do this review on a couple of points; 1. A review had not been done yet and 2. I really think that this rep needs to be recognised as it is really good. Often, a rep would go largely unnoticed if it were not for someone telling of their experiences with it. Also, it gives me a chance to give back to the community a bit. THE HISTORY Omega has put out many commemorative editions of the Speedmaster over the years and this one was part of the "Michael Schumacher Legend" series. Originally released as Ref. ST 178.0031, and made in a limited edition of 6000 pieces to commemorate Michael
  7. Does the real deal really have a 51 jewel movement??? Sorry for being a bit green, but APs' have only recently been of interest to me. Edit - Just been to AP's website, and I guess a lot of thier chronograph movements have around 50 jewels, I guess you learn something new everyday.
  8. Here are some of mine; Dead Tritium dots And, of course my signature photo too
  9. Either a gen, or a nicely modded rep. Either way, can I have it??
  10. Same here, can't find it on the net yet. If it is true, this will be one of the saddest days in music history
  11. On the top picture, its kinda cool that the AR on the cyclops makes it look like there is a hole in the crystal. Once again, nice collection, thanks for sharing. Cheers
  12. Youre good on those photographs, even to the point of making sure the hands on the GMT are set so that it is hard to determine the handstack. The photos are just enough in size and lighting to make it tough, bravo. I going to go out on a limb and say that NONE of them are reps for the following reasons; GMT II - The lighting is just dim enough to not be able to tell the coloring of the numbers on the bezel (reps have darker siver numbers), but the rehaut engraving does not look "printed" like many of the reps do and the cyclop has the signature AR coating on it and it really stands out to my eye. So based on its overall looks, I say its a gen. If this is a rep, its had the cyclop AR mod done to it and it is very well done. DAYTONA - The bezel is the giveaway, it shows up much "flatter" and less conicle than what the rep has. I also can just make out the ROLEXROLEXROLEX rehaut engraving, and I do not beleive any Daytona reps feature that yet. The hands also appear to be the correct size (many Daytona reps have hour and minute hands that are too thin). If this is a rep, i NEED to know its source. MILGAUSS - I'll say gen again based on the dial. The dial, from what I can make out just looks too good. The coronet at 12:00 has the "flatter" bottom and even the most current rep of this has a coronet logo that is a bit too round on the bottom. The Milgauss name on the rep looks a tad bigger than the gen and yours looks about the right size. Thats my guess, I stared at these for a few minutes and I do not see anything on any of them that would tip them off as reps. In any case, real nice set you have there, wear them well. Cheers

Picture posted is a Dodge Power Wagon, not a Chevrolet, FYI.
  14. Could you imagine popping 10k for a phone, going out on the yatch for the day and accidentaly dropping it over the side while showing it off ("check this out, just got it, it has real titanium and saphire and...oops.....ah....oh no.......sploosh...................blub blub blub.........") Well, thats probably what would happen to me, thats why I stick with pay-as-you-go phones.
  15. I am no expert either, but I do beleive that early GMTs' did have "roulette" date wheels (alternating black and red numbers). There are a couple of things I don't like about the dial, the Rolex fonts looks weird (the "O" looks abnormally wide) and the white outline around the date window. I am not saying its not authentic, just that its like nothing I have ever seen before on an early GMT. Other than that, everything looks the part. I'll put it this way, if someone were to offer it to me, I'd be glad to give it a good home
  16. If this was brought on by Rolex, I think it is a pile of crap . Why would they care, especially if we are talking about parts and watches that they manufactured year and years ago. That would be like me going on Ebay to buy a used engine part for my old Mustang and Ford complaining of copyright infringement, it does not make any sense. Well, I guess it makes sense if Rolex (or any other luxury watch maker) really wants to proove just how much of a [censored] they can be. I remember asking about a replacement bracelet for my GMT, I was told by the AD that they would have to send my old bracelet back to Rolex, I guess you can guess which body part of mine they can kiss. Rant over...
  17. Sounds like a plan, I hope everything works out well for you.
  18. 3 Monte Carlos' Nice, thanks for sharing!!
  19. Someone sticky this, well done!!!!
  20. I took notice of that because I need a modern Sub case with lugholes to build a 16800. Anyway, to cht, does the winding stem/crown line up with the case tube so the crown screws down nice and smooth? If not, the movement may be a little twisted inside the case. If you are confident enough, remove the caseback (a wad of sticky tape or rubber ball works great for this of you don't have the propoer wrench), there are two screws holding down small metal tabs against the inside of the case, these are the case clamps. With a jewelers size screw driver, just slightly loosen the two screws (don't remove them), and sligtly twist the movement until it aligns better and then tighted up the screws. Be careful on your selection of screwdriver, make sure the screwdriver fits the head of the screw properly and be careful on getting any lint or dust in while the caseback is off. If the movement is straight in the case already, I suspect that the factory tried to compensate for the date wheel not aligning in the window by slightly rotating the dial a bit, this would make it more tricky to fix. I understand why you would not want to send it back since it is always a crap shoot when sending these watches to another country, and you already waited awhile to get this on in the first place. Although, if you feel uncomfortable in fixing it yourself, don't try, contact Chris to see what you can work out. Good Luck
  21. I recognise that watch , glad you like it. The numbers between the lugs on most rep Rollies are etched, not engraved. Only the high dollar Vietnamese cases sold by NDTrading and Jewelry & Watch have the numbers engraved like the geniune. As far as engraving it to be more gen like, I don't think it would be worth the trouble since you would have to remove the movement from the case and find a way to engrave over the exisitng numbers with a dremel tool and engraving bit of some sort. Still, maybe some of the other Rollie experts here will chime in, maybe someone out there has the ability to do this mod easily. Cheers
  22. Oh, well maybe its just my eyesight, but I don't see where the dial is that off, not that I doubt you, it just looks fine to me. The scratches on the bezel I thought was some lint. Goo gone would probably get the whole pearl to come off (no biggie, just glue it back on, with less glue), but I don't know if the goo gone would hurt the finish of the bezel insert, maybe someone else can testify. It may be more feasible to just replace the insert with an aftermarket one from ebay (wholesale outlet) and a pearl from ebay (watchmaterial). This is a common mod many do to improve their subs. Anyone else for suggestions?
  23. Anyone else see what I see...LUGHOLES. I thought this was supposed to be a rep of a current model 16610? Other than that, I think it looks real good except for the oozing glue around the pearl, and that can be cleaned up. The crown guards look a little too thick (common sub rep issue again), but that can be fixed as well. The clasp just sounds as if it is stiff from being new and would eventuall wear in. Considering this was your first rep purchase, you did real good IMO. Enjoy your new toy. Cheers Edit: I just noticed you got this from Eurotimez (I thought it was from WM9), and I remember seeing subs' on his site that have case lug holes (exclusive to Eurotimez apparently).
  24. The one without the gasket is Rolex.
  25. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I beleive Domino's gave them as awards to store managers who exceeded a certain sales quota.
