  1. Modded 112E hands down. It is pricy, but you will not see many of these around. Custom built and a piece of art!!! To be honest I really don't like DSN's 112 too much. Give the DSN to your bro, buy the 112E and remind your brother how much better yours is everytime you wear them
  2. Looks good. The white really pops now. Are you planning on aging that as well?
  3. Your woman has excellent tastes! Rolex is nice but the PAM is where it is at!!
  4. Buy a gen. It's worth it. I bought one a couple years ago on the bay. Paid $1400 or something. Came on a strap, but had an unused braclet. The strap and deployant was actually Breitling. I put it on the bracelet and sold the strap and deployant for $150. I later sold the watch for $1500, but it was an awesome watch. Probably got more compliments than anything else I wore at the time. Well worth the investment if you can find one resonably.
  5. +1 As I have said, yours is a very nice rep and to be honest you won't be seeing the back unless you take it off at an AD anyway.
  6. It is a very, very nice movement, but the finish is still not the same quality as the gen. I'm not sure how else to describe it. It is not the pics, the lighting, or the camera. You have the nicest movement that has been made to date, but still not good enough to fool a wis or AD.
  7. It's not x-ray vision. And I'm not talking about the version with cote de geneve. Gen left yours right. As I said in my first post the finish and engraving is not the same quality even with the blurry photo. Of course if you put two blurry pics next to each other it will be hard to tell. If I blur a pic of my girlfriend enough she will look like Jennifer Aniston, but guess what she's no Jennifer Aniston Any pics that will show some extra detail? Anyone who knows on this board will be able to tell with a detailed pic. On a side note: You can also tell rep from the gap between the crown and crown guard. That being said you have yourself a nice watch, which out of the box will fool 99% of anyone you will probably ever meet. Bottom line swiss or asian I don't care, you will not be fooling any AD who knows their stuff.
  8. Finish meaning the engraving of the word "Panerai" over and over again on the bridges and surface of the bridges where "Panerai" is engraved on all Pre H Series movements. The gen has better deeper and shaper engraving. Not even close in the detail and quality. Go look at a pre-h preowned and get back to me. I think anyone who has seen a gen and the new rep will agree and no you don't have to hold them side to side. I'm not trying to make anyone mad. No the normal person on the street will not know the difference, but claiming an AD will need a loupe to call out your rep is probably the best laugh I've had today.
  9. An electron microscope or anyone from 3 feet away. An AD with a loupe not being able to tell the difference? I'm sorry, but I have to call this as BS. Anyone on this board can tell the difference with a half decent photo. No offense intended but you have never seen a real PAM movement if you think the finish on the new rep[ 111e compares to a gen. I don't care if you go on the risti site or not. If you don't believe me go post a pic of your watch on any GEN website and say your thinking about buying it. I'd give it 5 minutes before it is outted as fake.
  10. I think what they are saying is that the parts are not interchangable for ETA and Chinese in many cases. Most watchmakers cannot order parts for the 100% asian movement that beats at 21k. I can also dispell that the movement in your 111e is identical to a gen 111e. Maybe in a picture, but the finish on the gen is 100x better than any rep I have ever seen. In the hands on any Risti the finish will be a dead giveaway. I agree the bridges, ingravings, beat, and shock protection are good, but no way the finish on the bridges is identical to gen.
  11. Thanks Pug. I found the movement. I guess if the woman doesn't return my cash I can replace the movement for about $18. The movement model was stamped on. I was just too lazy to pop the case open until I found a source for the movement.

  13. Okay here is the story. I bought a used gucci 1900l for my girl. I was going to give it to her for Valentine's day. I met the seller and the watch looked like new. She said it had a new battery. I set the time and left. I pulled the watch out when I got home and the time was totally off. I popped the back and the movement is ETA marked "v8" and had a new battery. I just went to the jewery store and picked up another battery. No dice. After 1 hour the hands have moved only 10 minutes. Any idea what could be wrong? I'm gonna try to get my money back, but you know how that goes. If I can't should I just find a new movement and drop it in? Anyone have a link to where I can buy ETA quartz? Quite a shame, because it is a really nice watch.
  14. That DIEVAS is pretty sweet. I'm usually not into the hommages, but it looks solid.
  15. Either one when properly serviced will work great. Buy what you like better the money difference isn't that much.
  16. The photo above is not a 6497-2, but a base Chinese movement. If I remember that thread correctly the seller was trying to sell those as 6497-2 but they were not. Gen 6497-2 have the standard ETA bridges and cannot swap over as illustrated earlier in the post. These movements would probably be best in base models with closed casebacks or maybe an 036 as it would be the correct bridges.
  17. That looks great. No worries about the AR, that can always be done later. Any other pics?
  18. I personally don't think that the value of the gens will be hurt at all. In fact I went from reps to gens. If I like a rep enough maybe I'll actually buy the real thing. I've done that so far with Panerai, Omega, and Breitling. (not at the same time)
  19. I have a Seiko Black Monster on bracelet that I picked up from a guy locally last year. I paid $50 to use it as a beater, but it actually gets quite a few compliments. I'd also hear that the movement may not be that accurate, but mine was within 30 seconds after a week's time. I highly recommend them. The Samurai is sweet.
  20. Looking good. The lume looks awesome as well.
  21. Ouch. I got out bid on that ebay case. Of course me and anther ebayer were sniping at the last minute. I hope that a member here at least got it. I contacted the maker directly. All the cases have been sold that were made, but good news they will be making more next year.
  22. What kinda cigar is your favorite? PM me info on what kinda cigars he can get. I maybe interested, but only if they are the real thing. I may wear rep watches, but I prefer my cigars and liquor to the authentic.
  23. I think it looks great! As many others have said Porsche Design designs many things. I have a vintage pair of Porsche Design Aviators from 1987 and I drive a Jeep. I don't feel like I'm a poser when I wear them. People in the know, know about this brand from high end magazines and the net. That being said, I wouldn't mind a 993TT to go with my aviators.
  24. Looks great from the front! I think the word ultimate is being thrown around way too much by the dealers. The movement in this one doesn't have any swan neck at all swiss, chinese or hybrid. To be honest it looks like a 1st gen chinese movement from 1.5 years ago. This is a great movement which should keep time just as well as a swiss movement, but I don't see how it can be ultimate. BTW: That Greg Stevens is killer!!
  25. You have found a temporary solution, but it doesn't help what is wrong. I looked up a pic of the back of your watch, but I cannot see the rachet. I have a ETA PAM and the easiest way to find it will be to watch the gears as you wind the watch. One of the large gears most likely has it attached and it lets the gear spin as you wind it, but when you are done winding it the gear will not go backwards. I'm not sure if yours is the same, but either way it sounds like you should fiind a good watchsmith to look at it.
