  1. Great review with pics. I've seen these come up on TZ from time to time and have alway been interested.
  2. That totally sucks, and had you been the type of person who would have sat there and carried on for hours causing a scene, I'm sure they would have honored the price. I would move on to another shop. By not honoring the price they probably lost a customer for life. Had they honored the price you probably would have made future purchases there and may have forged a relationship. The short sight is the manager or owner who made the final decision not to honor the price. I would not go back. What about car dealers in the states selling cars for above sticker? Obviously this isn't a problem now, but a couple of years ago when the vette z06 came out you couldn't get one for sticker even when the dealer had it on the floor with the sticker in the window. I also never understood how that worked. I guess they know that people may not sue.
  3. A lot of work and a great end product. I guess the sum is to each his own. This watch is probably 99% gen and serviced to boot. The work that goes into these pieces is truely art to say the least. Wear it well knowing all the work that has gone into it!
  4. Welcome. Nice collection to start and yes you can learn a lot on this website. Most topics have probably been discussed so use the search feature and if you can't find it there just ask.
  5. Gen and rep both are possible, but you may not be happy with what you see. The movement on a gen 005 doesn't have the panerai bridgework, swan neck, or high decoration. So you would be showing off a movement that really isn't meant to be shown off. You would also have to source a rep or aftermarket caseback which I wouldn't bother putting on a gen. On the rep you would most likely have the wrong movement as most will have the swan neck and or incorrect bridges making the watch even further from the gen. Your best bet would be to buy a 111 gen or rep if you want to look at the movement.
  6. Looking good. Who supplied the balance wheel and burst gears?
  7. Sweet watch and a great deal. I've seen people asking more for used on TZ.
  8. I think that people were taking the Ultimate 111E and swapping a 001B caseback to make a rep that is very close out of the box. Add a T 45 crown and superlume and you'd be very close. Beyond that I'd think you would probably looking at some Jimmy Fu parts which are going to get expensive quick.
  9. What's crazy is that until this post I never even realized that the backs were different. I knew my was gen as I purchased from the orginal owner and respected TZ member who had all docs. I love that you learn something new everyday on this site.
  10. I attempted to get some better detail on the movement, but my camera is a cybershot from '01.
  11. Here is a dirty pic of my PAM. I'd go for the 111, but if the other one has box/papers that could be a consideration. I have a higher res pic if anyone wants, I tried to size this one down to post and it was taken in my bathroom so no need to tell me how bad my photo skills suck.
  12. I can probably take a pic tonight. I'm at work now.
  13. I have a gen F series 111 and the caseback is the same as the one pictured. Mine is 100% gen. Could be a case of the watch was sold without box and papers so the seller picked up a rep box on the bay or somewhere. Maybe he even thought it the box was gen. I agree better pics are needed, but the spacing on officine panerai is okay.
  14. Nice work. I have a deal I'm trying to work on for a gen, but if I can't get it done, I'll build one like this. Nothing like a little help from The Zigmeister to make a work of art.
  15. Wow! Nice project. Is the blue on the crystal from the background or AR? Maybe strip the AR off the crystal? Other than that piece is looking awesome!
  16. Hey T, The crowns look great either 60 or 48. I've seen many pics of the 60 tooth installed and it is a huge improvement over stock rep. I appreciate your efforts in making this project happen. Please don't let a few bad apples ruin more projects like this. With anything you will always have a few cry babies who are always looking to get something for a discount or free. Personally, I think anyone asking for their money back is pretty low considering all the work you put into this.
  17. Hey All, The screws/tubes on my Ajoesmith 03-92 are done or at least one is. Has anyone used the 24mm pam spring bars? Otherwise I guess I could just buy a cheap or broken Bell & Ross and take them. If anyone knows the spring bars will work or not, please let me know. Thanks! Aaron
  18. I bought at used gen a litttle over a year ago for $1k on craigslist. It was the black face chrono on a bracelet. It was easy 90% condition and kept great time. I sold it for $1600 a few weeks later which was still a good deal for it.
  19. +1 I thought that your items for sale were reasonably priced. I have a gen and a rep PAM and have always felt comfortable on this board. In fact I spend more time over here then on the gen boards. I think that the information that is provided by you and the other members is actually better and more correct then the info on some of the gen boards. Don't let it get you down.
  20. I agree. This rep is great out the box!
  21. I think the Korean dial is much better than DSN. I'm sorry, but to me the font on DSN's dial is just not correct. His A bars are too low and the L SWISS L is off. Never the less it is a nice dial with what appears to be great lume.
  22. Nice work The Zigmeister. As always you don't dissapoint!
  23. This movement doesn't have the dagger on the regulator. Again all these are either a mix of asian/swiss parts. The only true 100% swiss movements are the ones with square bridges. Just go with what you like the best.
  24. Very cool watch. A woman I would with who is from Russia, has a boyfriend who collects Russian watches. He first showed me his Vostok diver a couple of years ago. I must say it was very impressive. I loved the display back and movement decoration. He told me that they used to print Vostok Russia on the face, but a few years ago in an attempt to reach a larger market the started putting Vostok Europe on the faces. This is what I was told and I have no information to back it up. I know that I have seen some great deals on these over on TZ from time to time and they make a great looking product. I look forward to seeing a review on this new model.
