A lovely old piece...I'd say have it serviced and wear it in good health for a long, long time (and if you ever get bored with it, I'll buy it!). As others have said, wind it slowly and carefully and enjoy!!
Isn't that the click or whatever the little metal piece is that keeps the mainspring from unwinding? It's like right next to the mainspring with a tooth slotted into it....it'll ratchet when you wind the watch...
Most of the cartel have very reasonably priced watches ($108 or thereabouts!) As for best...well, they'd require some modding but are not bad at all stock..mainly because the gen is such a simple and elegant model!
Hey man! Glad to hear you're back safe and sound! I'm sure the kids will love Chi-town... the young one still wearing his sub?
Great to hear from you!!
Do you have a gen IWC movement or Swiss 7750? I was gonna say...if you don't have a gen movement in there...that's basically all you'd need!!! Beautiful watch!!!!
Hey Zack,
Welcome. Check out the link in my sig. for some info on movements... the Asian 21J is a lower end automatic movement. The ETA Clones (Asia 2836s) are generally well regarded, as are most of the Gen Swiss ETAs (If you can still find them).
